This addon does not work anymore, sorry guys! GearScore no longer shares information through addon channels.

FakeMyGearScore is a small-ish addon that will allow you to set a custom gearscore and average item level for yourself. The addon will sync with other gearscore users in your guild and tell them that you have <selected gearscore, 1337 by default> and <selected average item level, 101 by default> while naked. Yep, naked. Amazing, right?

It will sync when you login to your guild.

The only gearscore affected is your own, it is advised you run this addon without the gearscore addon so that they don't fight over what your gearscore is, lol.

Type /fmgs for a list of commands.

If you don't like this addon because of what it does, then just think about all the people who don't like the gearscore addon because of what it does. This is basically just to give people a little bit of choice about if they want to be gearscored or not. I'd call it a privacy addon, while being fun at the same time. It's best not to fight in the comments page though, they'll probably just get deleted.

Edit: typo

GearScore 4.0 requires you to actually inspect the person to see their GearScore.

Also, it should be noted that GearScore 4.0 has no communications and as such, the limited effect this addon has on GS 3.x will be removed.

If a person complains, I would assume their skill and role/class knowledge are low enough that they cannot evaluate gear type/gems/enchants on their own, and it's a great filter to not join their raids. I wish there were a way to trick the GS add-on as easily as the fake achievement links can fool people, so I could quickly find what criteria people use to judge my gear. Even something to block someone from calculating my GS in game would be nice, whether in inspect range of me or not. If somebody chooses not to invite me to a group because they cannot see my score, that's alright with me. Note: For angry people, I'm not saying break GS. If you want to use it, fine. Players who are actually skilled always have great gear anyway and don't mind being gearscored. Players who complain about Gearscore never seem to have very good gear because they aren't skilled enough to get it. And the few really sucky players who have great gear don't complain about being Gearscored either, in my experience. Conclusion : Complaining about Gearscore flags you as an unskilled player.

Good idea, I wish you had come up with this sooner! It's a nice concept. People swear GS = Skill. The most accurate addon to messure people's wits is skill score. However there is nothing like taking the time to look at ppl's talents/gems/enchants and i guess gear on the armory.

Nonetheless, too bad this addon was created a bit late when GS itself is being broken by blizzard. (finally)

Provide serious raid leaders with a "tool" to help them gauge the potential and or quality a player may bring to a raid? And in the end wowheroes can do the same thing and there is no avoiding it that players and raid leaders will try thier best to seek out as quality and experienced a players as they can. It is very sad that folks let a helpful tool become so misused and misunderstood and whats even worse is "FAKE" authors trying to slam those who put alot of time and hardwork into quality mods by creating such a mod as this to mis inform and lead the community to look down upon and not use gearscore as it was intended. IMHO I dont think gearscores author meant for his add to ostrisize and out cast players but that is how people have twisted and misused it and you sir....are helping that mind set with this waste of time. Just my 2 cents and I hope the mods allow this post to stay in hopes that it makes people rethink and educate themselves on proper use and interpreation of add ons and their roles in the community.

GearScore has been updated 17 times in the last year. The previous versions of GearScore that used the request API and would transmit message outside of guild was banned by Blizzard because of a security hole. So anyone who uses the addon must have the the version which is immune to FakeMyGearScore.

Your free to create a GearScore faking addon, I'm not opposed to such a thing. If people want to rely on the 4 digit number instead of the plethora of other information the addon provides then they deserve to be tricked.

However, your addon doesn't work as described so I don't think you should get people's hopes up by stating that it does. Maybe state that it will only fake your GearScore to your guild members?
