Ara Broker Reputations  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: r41
by: altelulex, Aranarth, vikingking

Version R37 and later has been tested with Classic, BfA Retail, and the Shadowlands Beta.
You only need R37 or later for all your reputation needs.

This data broker plugin keeps track of your watched faction and displays a Blizzard-like faction list: colored bars in tree view mode that show standing (ie: Honored) and switch to raw numbers (ie: 2400/12000) when mouse hovered. You can access the config menu by right-clicking the block.

It does pretty much what Broker Factions does with the following additions:
- Can represent the watched faction with an ASCII bar.
- Can sort by reputation level (thx to Neorgia)
- Can watch hidden factions.
- Colors are editable.

It has been designed with efficiency in mind: fast and lightweight, yet feature full.

Click a header (white entry) to expand or collapse.
Click a faction to "watch" it. (Alliance Vaguard and Horde Expedition are special cases and require a shift+click to be watched.)
Middle-Click a faction to move it to actives/inactives.
Right-Click a faction to copy its info in chatbox.

Collapsed headers are saved across session (with the exception of inactive factions that are automatically collapsed by Blizzard at login).

This plugin supports AddonLoader (delayed loading), Skinner and SharedMedia (limited).

***Update***

Issue fixed, similar issue to an old faction tracking addon, in the Ara_Broker_Reputations.lua file, anywhere you find ChatFrameEditBox change it to be ChatFrame1EditBox and it now works with no errors.

Also how do you "unwatch" a faction. I dont mean by "watching" another one, but by not "watching" any at all?

Right now, you have to do it from the Blizzard's faction panel (uncheck "Show as experience bar").

In next version, clicking a faction will toggle its watching state, so you will be able to click the watched one to watch nothing (don't forget to uncheck the auto switch option if you don't want to watch anything anymore).

Any reason for that need ?

EDIT: you weren't using the latest version at the time you posted

I love your addon so much, it's very useable, but I found a problem that it can't show chinese words.
Every traditional chinese word is "?", just like this.

Wish your job will go nothing wrong! Thanks!!

ASCII colours on the Cata beta

Aranarth, just a FYI that the ASCII colours don't seem to work on the Cataclysm Beta. No error report, and all the information is there like current rep, rep to go, session gained, etc.

The display just reverts back to the bland Blizzard colours, no matter what I check in the options.

In other random news, ever since finding this addon, it has been my Broker rep plugin of choice since WoTLK, as in BC I was using FuBar stuff. You have done an amazing job with this, and thank you!

Without changing anything, it works fine on 4.03a live, so maybe it was just an issue on the Beta.

As you noticed on 4.03 live, it works fine. Not sure why the Cat Beta made it weird, but now it doesn't matter.

One small request

Ever since BC I've been using FactionsFu, but with the 4.0.1 release, FuBar finally died. So I've been using this time to switch over to Data Broker stuff and found replacements for pretty much everything.

This addon is perfect, (here it comes ) except for missing one feature of FactionsFu. In it you were able to mark factions to watch depending on what zone you are in. I really liked that feature and wondered (not sure of the difficulty involved) if you could try to add that to your addon.

Thanks

Found this addon from this year-old thread: http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=29304

I've been desperately holding on to FactionsFu, terrified it would die beyond resurrection with no hope of me finding a fix or a replacement. Thank you so much for making this practically perfect addon. And it's LDB to boot! Fits right into ChocolateBar with zero hassle. What more could a rep-grinder want?

If you ever happen to implement the link-faction-to-zone bit (preferably on a per-char basis), that would be a plus and I would definitely use that feature. But even without that, thanks a hundred times over for making this \o/

A suggestion, if I may.

I would love a simple (?) addition with regards to guild rep tracking.
Tracking the weekly cap of the guild rep, would it be possible to add an icon to the Ara Rep display which changes based on reaching the weekly cap, eg. green light icon while guild rep is gained, then turns red till rep is once more earned..?

Might even be worth just making a separate addon for guild rep tracking, now that I think about it.

Repo not updating?

Thanks you very much for your perfect addons! I use almost all of them. And they all are work fine, except this one.
I don't know, why, but it doesn't update reputation "on-the-fly" on the LDB bar. For example, after I've turned some quest, that gives repo, I don't see changes in the broker bar. I can see correct information in faction list when I hover mouse though. But to change data for tracked faction on bar, I need to turn tracking this faction off and on again.

Where am I wrong?

This addon just doesn't work for me.

As it, it does not display anything.

I'm missing something and it has a prereq? Or what?
