Ferous Media Pack  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.6
by: Ferous [More]

Ferous Media is a collection of Textures that I have made from scratch. Alot of it is inspired by alot of Authors, including Delsim, Ishtara, Duke, Amenity, Freebaser, Halcyone, Dawn, and pHishr for the idea! If I fail to mention your name, please inform me and I will add it!

Looking for ButtonFacade: Svelte? Click Here.

Looking for ButtonFacade_Shadow? Click Here.

Installation:

Install and go! Works with other shared medias as well, so no need to disable if you want to use someone elses shared media.

If you're going to use this pack in your UI, please give me some credit. Thanks!

Any questions, comments, suggestions, etc., can be reverted to the Comment tab above. Thanks!

Ok I have a question that I'm sure many others have as well. What is the reason for preferring rActionButtonStyler over ButtonFacade?

And how do I clean out my SharedMedia!!?!?!?!!?

You would have to delete the files in addition to deleting the lines in the SharedMedia.Lua if you want to clean your shared media out.

First question: I don't prefer rActionButtonStyler over ButtonFacade. I just put it there as an option If you want my BF skin, its ButtonFacade: Svelte, here on WoWInterface. I only made it available for rActionButtonStyler in this package as none exist for this 'platform' so to speak yet

edit - Here is the link to my buttonfacade svelte, if you prefer it over rActionButtonStyler.

Yeah after I wrote that I clicked the "more" link and found it, but pHisher's media pack is still only rActionButtonStyler, which is sad. Not that I need all these options, but when my OCD hits and I just have to have a new looking UI often the easiest thing to change is just the visuals. I think I might check out the BF wiki/tutorials and whatnot and see if I can port pHisher's over to BF for my own use (if he's ok with that of course!). Thanks for your answer! I hope you've found a nice late-night guild (don't freak out, we used to play on the same server; its Mosrael if you didn't remember).

So for SharedMedia, I just need to go in and comment out the files I don't use, as well as delete them in the SharedMedia folder? Is having all these files in the SharedMedia lua taking up memory if I don't use them, and if so, does deleting the actual files in addition to commenting them out actually make a performance difference (even a slight one)? Like any addict, I'm looking to fix ancillary problems rather than tackle the main issue head-on: I most likely have too many damned addons. Thanks again!

I'm pretty sure it will make a performance difference because it takes a long time to load all the textures if you have like 500 statusbar textures :P

Oh and I do remember you I am still on Hydraxis, but I'm alliance now :O

I probably am going to go back horde soon, I miss it

ruh roh!

Have you had any comments/complaints with SharedMedia not showing your files here as of late? I installed a clean copy of both SM and FM and it's not showing your files at all. It's right where it needs to be in the addons section and I'm wondering if I'm missing something. Any suggestions would be great!

Loving these textures!

Nope, I haven't had any problems. I'm still using this as well, with my Shared Media. It works with my Old Shared Media as well as the newly updated Shared Media on Curse.

edit - I also haven't had any reports of it not working either. You throwing it into your AddOns folder and not the Shared Media folder? Make sure its not anywhere but AddOns folder, like any ole' other AddOn.

LoL! I totally forgot I made this post. Yeah I couldn't figure out what was causing the issue either. Both the SharedMedia and this Media folder were in Addons and were up to date. It still wasn't seeing the media files from yours so I cheated and just copied the lua and files to their respective spots in the Shared media folder to be in just one spot.

Re: Re: Re: ruh roh!

Oh hmm Idk lol. It works fine on mine. This copy is actually my media pack with amenitys code, so it works nicely stand alone now with no shared media dependencies needed

New version

Just fyi, you don't need all of that code in your .lua file for this to work. If any addon still uses SharedMedia-1.0 or LibSharedMedia-2.0 (which was really an unauthorized fork) then they desperately need to be updated, are broken, or abandoned. SurfaceLib hasn't been touched since before WoW 2.0 (BC), so... yeah.

.lua changes...
You can remove everything from line 2 to the -- borders -- line. Then, either change Media:Register() to LSM3:Register() or change LSM3 on line 1 to be Media instead (less replacing that way).

.toc changes...
You can remove the "coded by Elkano" part, since you're not copying his code anymore (SharedMedia is All Rights Reserved btw, but even that code has been removed from SM for quite some time due to the first paragraph above), you're only using the API given to you. Then remove all the old libs from your OptionalDeps line.

Finally, remove LibDataBroker-1.1 from your folder and the .toc file. You're not using it, and I'm not sure what you would use it for anyway.

----

Oh yeah - one last thing. If someone chooses not to download the fonts (I, for example, am not a fan of pixel fonts), your .lua file still registers the fonts with LSM whether they exist or not. This shows the font names in the options for every addon that requests a font list from LSM. There is no way to check to see if a file path is valid, however, before registering something to LSM. I suggest removing that portion of the code from the .lua file and leaving it in the font readme to copy in by a user that wishes to use them (the fonts).

/edit: oh yeah! And to use your action button skins, one doesn't need rActionBarStyler. rActionButtonStyler is compatible with Dominos and Bartender4 as well (since they reuse the blizzard bars)
