GathererDB WoWHead  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.0.2013-06-15
by: Esamynn, dinesh, MentalPower, Nechckn, Norganna, norganna_uploader

WoWInterface is happy to announce that we have teamed up with Wowhead and the Norganna's AddOns Gatherer team to provide you with an exclusive downloadable Wowhead database for display in-game by Gatherer.

This addon will provide you with all the information currently in the Wowhead database showing all known locations of herbs, minerals and treasures. Now you can simply load up Gatherer, plug this database into it, and know what can be found in the zone you are in, without having to discover them yourself.

Wowhead will be providing regular dumps of their database to the Norganna team, who will then update the GathererDB Wowhead addon exclusively here on WoWInterface.

How it works
The import procedure is simple and painless. Once you have installed the AddOn and have reloaded the game, ensuring that both Gatherer and GathererDB_Wowhead are activated. When you finally log into the game, follow this procedure to import the new data into Gatherer:

  • Open Gatherer's configuration dialog.
  • Click on the red "Database" tab on the left-hand side of the dialog.
  • Click the import button in the main panel.

Make sure to add GathererDB-Wowhead to your favourites list here on WoWInterface and check back periodically to see if it's been updated, or get an email sent to you whenever they update it if you have those notifications turned on. Any time they update it, just re-download GathererDB-Wowhead and update your local copy.

Help improve the database
If you want to contribute your data back to Wowhead to continue expanding the database, please download and install the Wowhead client (available for both PC and Mac) and just follow the instructions on their site.

About Gatherer
Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.

The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining, or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on the minimap.

When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations clearly marked on each zone's map.

About Wowhead
Wowhead was created with one sole intent: to provide World of Warcraft players with an extensive database and tools to enhance their gaming experience. This website is our contribution to this wonderful game.

Our user community is a big part, if not the biggest part, of Wowhead. Almost all of our information comes from our users, through data uploads from the Wowhead Client, comments on database entries and screenshot submissions! The site also features forums, where users can ask questions, discuss important Warcraft-related topics, recommend and share favorite addons, and much more!

Updated to support Gatherer 4.0.4.

19 DEC 2010 Updated the node list and have included what data is available for the gigantic changes seen in WoW 4.x.

09 DEC 2009 Updated to the most recent set of nodes and updated TOC for WoW 3.3

18 FEB 2009 Updated to the latest nodes, including those recently renamed in 3.0.8.

29 DEC 2008 Corrected some inconsistencies between GathererDB and Gatherer. Included more node locations.

05 DEC 2008 Corrected issues in the script pertaining to Icecrown, node IDs, and a few more nodes included in the DB.

04 DEC 2008 Corrected Icecrown naming, items should now appear in that zone.

03 DEC 2008a The correct, expanded DB file and other changes.

03 DEC 2008 Added yet more Northrend and other WotLK node locations, formatting of file, et cetera.

Arrow GathererDB_Wowhead_2011NOV11 Released

Folks,

Quite sorry for the delay; as noted, things have been rough, with very little time for WoW-type things.

In this release:
More nodes, still all specific to Cataclysm's reconfigured zones
Updated TOC

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

The file is just fine. Everything is working for me.. was very happy about that comment, since there was no update over here.

Re: Re-parent Gatherer's Icons to new Minimap

Zasurus,

When next you are in the Norganna IRC, look for either Kjasi or Esamynn, who can assist in the use of the icons elsewhere. *Unfortunately, have not dove into the inner workings of Gatherer itself in a long, long time - and, even then, clodgy did not begin to describe my understanding.

If memory serves, you also had need of some other information regarding a library, so we can try to get that cleared up, too.

If neither are around, send a PM there and will attempt to get you hooked up via other means.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

I own MiniHugeHUD (http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/minihugehud/) and wanted to include Gatherer on the HUD for users that like Gatherer. I have managed it with TomTom, GatherMate2, BreadCrumbs and the standard minimap icons so wanted to start on Gatherer.

Thanks

Krytikal,

That is the file from our main site - is that actually working for you/everyone? If so, we can get that posted and have things rolling again.

There are a few back-end issues keeping us from concocting a brand new file, but that will get us way closer to 'up to speed' than the one we have up now.

Thank you,

Nikk

But for those of you looking for more of an update the latest one I can find is from 4-28-2011, it is alot better than the 12-19-2010 update that was last posted on gatherers main website and one on here from wowinterface.
This one I know has alot of the updated nodes on it from cata as I chose herbing and mining again on a couple of new toons and it took me right to them even after all of the areas have changed like down in Tanaris and thousand needles, Northern and Southern Barrens. I have given the website to all of my guildies and out of 307 members no one has found anything new to where gatherer would collect the node location for me.
Here is the site I mentioned.

I can be wrong but I think the main problem with the database is that it still contains nodes that were at the good location for wotlk but not for Cataclysm anymore.

So, I tend to think that this whole database is corrupted with bad nodes/data.

Wowhead or Nechckn (authors of this database ?) should upload a new database, started from scratch since Cataclysm release date.

Cata Update?

Is it possible to get an update with data up to and including the Cata expansion? There are outdated nodes in this set of the DB that are from before the vanilla revamps. Most in those areas are for nodes that have been moved or items has been flat out removed from the game. So it is almost next to useless for that section of the game.

I'd prefer to update my in game DB with this add-on more because of the trust with WoWhead that the data will be complete and uncorrupted.

Thanks

Same as Zimraphel. Import stops at ~90%, between 14k and 15k nodes are imported but only a few actually show up in the world. Cobalt nodes in Borean Tundra and Howling Fjord, Giant Clam in Northern Stranglethorn along with some chests. I didn't check everything everywhere, but that's what I saw.

Not Working Right

I have followed all of the instructions on the main page, but when I try and import the DB the import cuts off at 90% and ends and never loads the data. I have re installed both addons several times. There also seems to be a multitude of graphical errors appearing on my screen when I relog after a failed import. Disabling gatherer makes the error go away, and this only happens after I try and import the database...

just wondering

i use the db to get my actual farming route and there seem to be a lot of useless nodes marked on my map from gatherDB, is it possible to remove all but the nodes you have actually farmed yourself after you imported all the data from the db?

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone's heard any word from the teams working on this for a database update?
I've seen people's many posts regarding their personal databases but I would really like an official update.

Unless anyone has a REALLLLY good database that has all the Cata zones built on top off the WoWhead DB? 8D

Thanks for any help
