oUF Lumen

Before I used oUF and started writing my own layout and small addons, Pitbull, Grid and ClassTimer were a big part of the functionality of my UI. Since then I tried to cut down on the number of addons while trying to retain its functionality. oUF_lumen using the power of oUF tries to accomplish this by creating a customized set of unit frames tha replace Pitbull, Grid and ClassTimer while being light and functional.

Compact config: https://i.imgur.com/34Yilqx.jpg

If you're interested in my UI it's here.

This is a PERSONAL Layout. What this means is that most of the functionalities will be implemented because I need it. I can eventually add some features If I see the utility in them, but I will never change the layout radically or add unnecessary and complicated features just because. The beauty of oUF layouts is that there are plenty for all tastes and it is easy to customize if you want to dwellve into code!

- Features

  • Minimalist design
  • Standalone (oUF and several oUF plugins embedded - Experience, Reputation, Smooth...)
  • Layout works for all type of roles (damage, healing or tanking)
  • Feature complete (All frames supported, including Boss and Arena)
  • Complete support for class specific power (Combo Points, Chi, Holy Power, Insanity, etc...)
  • All frames supported, including Party, Raid (TBA), Boss and Arena frames
  • Movable frames using /lmf

- Feedback
  • If you have any question regarding the layout please leave a comment in the comment section of this addon.
  • For bug reports and feature request please use Github.

I saw the comments below and as it seems it has been fixed on later versions, I still cant enter the command when I hit enter. Its not like it registers the command the text just stays there like I didnt hit enter....

And also making some changes on the config files. Such as I use another castbar addon which I customize so I generally disable your frames but after the 9.1.1 when I change the below part nothing happens. Cant figure out what I am doing wrong

Tried directly editing the defaults.lua , tried copy everything to config.lua and change there. Tried clearing my cache WTF folder etc....

Code:
castbar = {
            enable = false,
            pos = {
                a1 = "BOTTOMLEFT",
                a2 = "TOPLEFT",
                af = "MultiBarBottomLeft",
                x = cfg.frames.main.height + 4,
                y = -4
            },
            color = {5 / 255, 107 / 255, 246 / 255},
            width = (cfg.frames.main.width + 2) * 2 + cfg.frames.main.margin -
                cfg.frames.main.height + 8,
            height = cfg.frames.main.height,
            latency = {show = true, color = {1, 0, 0, 0.4}}
Hey mate, no need to thank me, part of the fun in WoW for me is coding my own UI! xD

Yeah that is a bug, I never actually tested that since I don't disable the castbar, but it is very easy to fix. I will release a fix eventually but since it is small, not worth doing it fast.

Just go to elements > castbar.lua

Then on line 91 change the and to or and enabled to enable.

Or just copy this to line 91.

Lua Code:
  1. if not unit or not cfg.units[unit].castbar.enable then return end

Should be like that.
After that your setting will work fine in config.lua, no need to change the defaults.

Have fun!

I figured out my problem: I was using your latest code from GitHub, but I misread the .pkgmeta file and had checked out master for each of the embeds. I realized it said "latest tag", fixed my embeds, and it works.
Cool man.

I updated the addon last night, might be worth to get the update.

Do report any problems, I'm leveling but I will try to fix it ASAP.

Also, still some Class filters to update and such for AuraBars and SpellWatchers for the classes I don't actually play, but I will get there slowly. Open to suggestions.

Also bugs, do please use GitHub. Thanks and have for in Shadowlands!
Thanks for the update even on launch day.

Sorry, better wait for the next release, this version here is missing loads of changes.
Still finishing adding more class filters, but once I get home I'll finish and release it in time for shadowlands.

There were some bugs in the Party frames yeah, they are fixed now.

I'm having some weird issues. Well, "issues" since BugSack addon is not throwing errors regarding some custom settings. However, it is throwing 2 errors after downloading the newest version from GitHub repo:

1)
Lua Code:
  1. oUF_Lumen\elements\spellwatchers.lua:9: Cannot find a library instance of "LibCustomGlow-1.0".
  2. [string "=[C]"]: in function `error'
  3. [string "@Ace3\LibStub\LibStub.lua"]:23: in function `LibStub'
  4. [string "@oUF_Lumen\elements\spellwatchers.lua"]:9: in main chunk
  5.
  6. Locals:
  7. (*temporary) = "Cannot find a library instance of "LibCustomGlow-1.0"."

2)
Lua Code:
  1. Error loading oUF_Lumen\embeds\LibCustomGlow\LibCustomGlow-1.0.lua

3) Other issues. I can see, as I'm farming ICC rares atm on Paladin, only "Shield of Vengeance" buff and "Judgment" debuff correctly with the cool less-colored bartimer setup (which is just what I wanted visually, thanks). Weirdly, using the compact ui from config.lua file works, but anything else I add there does not (aura filters that is), nor do they work by adding "Crusade" with correct SpellID in the filters.lua file. I've not been able to see some of the buffs for some time now that I think about it. I am not sure why there are only handful of buffs/debuffs that are working, but adding more auras correctly does not. I hope you can shed some light in the upcoming days. Nothing crucial after all as Paladin, and Boomer rotations are not snapshotting!

4) After some more testing, "Shield of Vengeance" and "Divine Shield" auras are not always visible when out of combat.

For personal preferences I have disabled gradient health color, enabled class color, disabled fader function (in 2 places just in case, functions and defaults files), and adjusted cast bar location a bit in compact ui version, if these can somehow mess up with something. I do not know how the spellwatcher and playerplate will alter the auratimers and such tracking, if at all, but they are correctly hidden in compact ui mode.
Hi mate.

1) and 2) The addon is packaged with other dependencies which are retrieved automatically using a packager script, so only the releases on GitHub or the download here on WoWInterface will have all those deps. That library you mentioned is a new one to add the glows to the Spell Watchers, therefore the issue you are having.
I will be releasing it later today so you will be able to just download and use it.

3) and 4) I still need to update the config commented examples for the compact layout.

Still WIP, bare with me!

Think it is ready for release, at least Spell watchers seems now to be working properly, tried to squash as much bugs as possible. But I guess during gameplay some might pop up.

This is the current look of this iteration for oUF_Lumen.
I will also update the more compact config of the layout in the config.lua file (commented by default).

The only problem I've run into so far is that the player castbar is off the bottom of the screen. I use 0.8 UI scale on a 3440x1440 screen. Is the weird placement because of UI scale? Is the best solution to change the anchor via config.lua? What's it supposed to look like, out of curiosity?
I will be releasing the Shadowland versions this weekend, so maybe wait till then, I changed some defaults so might as well wait a 1 or 2 days and then setup your UI for the Shadowlands release.

There shouldn't be any problem changing the scale. But You might need to reposition some elements. Best place is to use config.lua yes. Save your file between updates too.

Also update on my spell watchers (kinda mimics what we see a lot nowadays people using WeakAuras, but since I kinda hate GUIs configs and having to write several different configs for each char, is all config based, but way simpler of course, just tracks a SpellID to had it to the "Bar", then can had the option to track a Aura for procs and set Glows on the spell. Two different kind of glows, the Blizzard default one for procs and a warning one, pixel like glow for when a resource can be used.

-- snip here --

Pretty close to releasing this First major version for Shadowlands, just need to go through all the classes and specs and understand what spells should be tracked.
Thanks for the swift reply!

I was thinking of a possibility of as custom as possible based on a name of target itself and/or using the NPC ID as criteria to check, much like with the spell filters. Not sure how feasible such thing would be, though. Then adding every now and then certain custom settings to config files would not be that much of work, but having that option would be nice.

I am going to be maining boomkin in SL and I still use the compact version of the UI, so I am not that much into action bar glows, as I try to whitelist things. Having the less-colored version for spell timers above player and target frames is something I am waiting for quite a bit! There are number of spells which I would like to be on the default filter list so I could keep the custom config to minimum. I see in that preview picture you playing a boomer so I think you have the spells covered from there, but in essence talent spells/buffs/eclipses with baseline dots are enough for the most part.

Ah, and thank you for keeping this project alive. It would have been quite a pain to find ways to update things to workable package on my own.
No worries mate. I have created this layout almost 10 years ago now, and I do intend to keep it going. Can't predict the future but after my long pause from Cataclysm till WoD, I think I will keep playing for the foreseeable future, at least keep coming back when new patches hit.

OK, that is n idea, I think it is possible to do something like that yes. Because trimming the name of Targets with multiple names without some sort of filtering might create some weird results like imagine:

Furious Fairy -> Furious!

So, yeah, I will try to find some sort of pre-set filtering solution for that.

I don't main Druid, but I have every class and spec (who doesn't nowadays?), I will try to do a round check for Aura Bars and the new Spell Watchers to try to at least set a baseline that works for every class / spec.

That is basically what is left and then I will release this, hopefully on the weekend to be ready for Shadowlands. Want to concentrate on playing the game and less coding!
