LanguageCycle

Version: 6.0.2a
by: Halya [More]

This mod will toggle between the faction neutral (Common / Orcish) and the Racial language.

The functionality to automatically translate Guild/Party chat into the neutral faction language has been rendered obsolete by Blizzard's changes. Racial langauge is now nothing more but a prefix for these channels.

I am not the author of the original mod, full credit for that should go to previous authors who have since disappeared from World of Warcraft or did not want to continue updating this mod.

Mod Authors: [email protected], updated by Nhani of Earthen Ring EU

This mod was just too convenient to give up on and since nobody else updated it I decided to have a go at it myself.

The mod also includes the possibility for a key-binding to toggle spoken language.

Options are set through slash commands. See /lc help for detailed information.

LDB support has now been added.

6.0.2a
- Toc update

- Due to changes in Blizzard's API the translation option has been depreciated. Guild and Party channels now force to display text unaltered (as typed) with only a racial language prefix. Only /say and /yell still use racial language.

- Button UI adjustment to remove checkbox for translation toggle

5.4.1
Update in function: GetRealmName()

This should resolve the init failures.

5.4.0
Toc update

5.3.0c
Updated lib calling and lib content

5.3
toc update for patch 5.3

5.2
toc update
updating version to correspond to new patch for ease of use

5.1.0
New LDB feature: active language is now displayed iso the addon name.

5.0.4.a
fixed for patch 5.0.4

4.3
toc update

Addon to the best of my knowledge is still fully functional.

4.2.2
Code fix to make minimap button behave as intended.
New slash command to control the minimap button visibility.

Note: addons like SexyMap overrule minimap button positioning. Not much I can do about that, you will need to use the features of those addons to contol positioning and visibility.

4.2.1
Toc update
Added basic LDB support

4.0.1a
This release fixes the UI portion of the mod. Thanks to Xenovieva from EU's Argent Dawn for the code fix.

4.0.1
Depreciated code usage fixed and updated toc

3.2
Toc version updated. No functional changes.

3.1.0
Mod is still fully functional in this latest patch
Updated toc version and descriptions for all the purists out there, now it should no longer be marked as outdated.

3.0.3
Updated Toc version
Updated some descriptions and readme file

3.0.2d
Along with a little help of my friends... the UI native button is in working condition.

Rejoice, clickers of WoW ;-)

3.0.2c

Wait, what?

I thought Blizz disabled racial languages years ago?

@Tonyleila

The addon that can do that for you is called Tongues. It will however only work if the person speaking also has that mod installed.

This particular addon only does as Terranell describes: provide an easy way to toggle racial language on/off and prevent racial language from being used on guild or party channels if you so choose, so you can keep talking in your racial language in /s while blabbering with your guildies and not be forced to toggle each time.

No this doesn't translate chat (as far as I'm aware you can't translate racial languages other people use at all - each language has a small amount of 'words' and everything someone says is attributed one of these words of equal length, so if you're horde and you see a human say "uden" that just means that've said a 4 letter word, it has no correlation to what word it is that they actually originally said).

The mod allows you to quickly change the language that you are speaking from your racial to your faction common language (ie troll to orcish) and vice versa. It can also automatically change your language to your faction's common language (human/orcish) when you speak in party/guild chat.

So will this AddOn translate Racial language i normaly can't read? E.g. if I'm a Orc and an Undead Player speaks in his Racial language will it be translated?

Can't believe no one comments on this great mod. Even if you didn't build it, you still keep it updated for codeless gits like me.

I've always liked the UI Button. It's attractive and simple, makes it really easy to RP the switch naturally.

Thanks for putting out the update!
