MyTextures

Version: 1.1
by: RonnieW [More]

About.
First of all, i made this addon mainly for my own use, but i decided to make it publicly available.
There are similar addons available most of them have some dependencies and i don't like dependencies for such a basic addon

This is a very small and simple addon that lets you add any texture you like to WoW.
I made this addon because i found that when building my interface the bar textures available by default were severly lacking.
I remembered using a few really nice ones but they were imbedded in an addon i no longer use, and installing an entire addon just so i can use the texture was a little over the top for me.
That's why i decided to write this small standalone addon. I've included all the neccesary libraries.

What i will not do is add a ton of different textures, just a few i like, there are a lot of texture packs available and it's really simple to add one or more textures (just read the howto).
I will always credit the creators of the artwork when it is clear who they are.

By default i have added a few textures, and there's a really comprehensive description on how to add custom textures in the "Howto.txt"

Feel free to modify etc etc, just don't claim the artwork as your own. Neither do i.

I'd like to thank: pHishr, Arrowmaster, Seerah, Kante18, richerich and ferous for letting me "borrow" the graphics.

Planned Requests.
-

Todo.
Add Fonts (if i feel the need for it, or if it's requested)
Add General Textures (for use with addons like kgpanels or such)

Changelog.
V_1.1
- Added 12 Custom Border Textures.(Requested)(Creators are credited in "MyTextures.lua")
- Added extensive How To for adding your own textures.
- Added "CustomTextures" file so your changes wont be overwritten on update.

- Added Recount bar textures.
- Added Empath-Textures bar textures.
Optional Files (0)

Just a thought

Most mods iv'e seeen on wowinterface credit contributors on the add-on 's main page, not buried in lua, not many even ck the code.

Good.

It's nice to see that you didn't take the critique the wrong way either, as I actually feared a bit.

I use StUF myself, I've tested it with both StUF and Pitbull and for me it seems to be working fine.

Isn't this like, mostly copied from the SharedMedia lua/libs/etc?

It's standalone, but you've used the code from SharedMedia and then renamed most of the things in the lua files so it'll look as if you've done it on your own.

Just, give credit to the original author of SharedMedia at least. Don't claim it as your own.

And if I am by any chance mistaken, I am sorry. It just looks sliiiightly suspicious.
I can see how it looks that way, i actually didn't find out about SharedMedia until after i made this ( i prefer wowinterface over curse ). The code i had a good look at was the stuff they did in Recount. It is likely they however took a good look at SharedMedia
(i wish i'd known about it, would have saved me a lot of work)

ps. you're right about the giving credit thing, so instead of putting it only in the .lua i've also added it to the description

If it's a specific type of border you're looking for, please let me know and i'll see what i can do.
