QuietCopter

Version: 1.3
by: Sepioth [More]

Silences all Flying Machine sounds.

Extract zip to you \WorldofWarcraft\Data folder.

If you want to get certain sounds back you can delete any of the sounds in the \World of Warcraft\Data\Sound\Ambience\Creature\Gyrocopter folder.

Enjoy!

1.3

Added a few more sounds to silence that I missed.

1.2

Checked for 3.3 compatability. Still seems to work just fine. Also changed the file path so extracting it into your DATA folder actually works. Though I already fixed that.

1.1

Fixed a file path error. Thanks to littlebuddha79 for doing the testing.

Don't worry about tooting yourself it's perfectly normal.

Now I don't have to figure out where the sound is and test it to see if it works.

and your welcome mornaistar. Glad you like it.

@mornaistar

Consider it done ... i'm uploading it here after i post this. The name of the addon will be QuietCannibal. Assuming it gets approved it should be up shortly.

@Squidbeard

I'll look into it and hopefully post one for you too. Give me a day or two and expect it to be up.

haha *nomnom*
U just have to find out which sound file it is. Download a program to open .mpq files (there are a few ..e.g. WarcraftEditor ..hm no, i forgot the correct name sry :>) and then create a sound file with no sound - replace it with the org. by just creating a folder like u see in the .mpq
Hm this description sux.

Interesting.

That's what I get for assuming what the problem was, when the "gun silencer" mod wouldn't work for me - even though the sound files played fine via VLC.

Thanks for the info.

I'm not 100% sure where WoW gets installed on a Mac but if I'm not mistaken then the default install path should be "/Applications/World of Warcraft/"

If not then you need to find the World of Warcraft directory. In there there should be a "Data" directory. If not create one. Extract my addon to that "Data" directory.

It is possible that the problem you have is the same as what everyone others here had.

Try my latest version I corrected the directory structure to make the addon work again.

Probably.

I had the same problem when trying to install the "gun silencer" mod to my Mac...

If you look in the Data folders on our macs, you'll see we don't have the directory structure PCs have - we just have a few "xxxxx.mpq" files - with .mpq being a type of archive Blizz uses on Macs [started with Diablo for Mac?]

Used to be some MPQ editors when I played diablo 1 & 2, but haven't seen any which would work with WoW on Macs.

I believe the .mpq files have checksum values which would detect any changes from Blizz approved files, anyway.

The addon directory is apparently the only directory on Macs which aren't based on MPQ files - which is why we can use addons that are "cross-platform".

I've downloaded it and put it in the directory shown, but copters are still making noise. I love my engineering toys, but can't stand the noises sometimes. Any idea what the problem could be? The only other sound mod I'm using at the moment is one that makes Hunter's guns sound like they have a silencer on them.
