ShieldWatch

Version: 1.0.4
by: guyofgarithos [More]

ShieldWatch will add a bar to your screen displaying the total amount of damage you can absorb with spells such as Power Word: Shield, or Death Strike's Blood Shield (examples, covers any shield buff with a fixed absorb amount). It can be locked/unlocked as well as resized. It gets shields by reading your buff tooltips, very lightweight.

ShieldWatch commands:
/shieldwatch - show help
/shieldwatch [lock/unlock] - sets bar's moving state
/shieldwatch setwidth (50-250) - set bar's width
/shieldwatch setheight (16-80) - set bar's height

Sadly I will be taking a break from WoW, so I will not be able to update my addons. I hope to be back soon, but until then, anyone who creates addons, please feel free to take over it.

1.0.3 - Sunday, May 15
Added shield timer to right side of bar, displaying the remaining time on your shortest-duration shield.

1.0.2 - Tuesday, May 10
Added a shield count to left side of bar, displaying the number of shields you have up.

1.0.1 - Thursday, May 5
Call me stupid, but I was under the impression there was a maximum of 16 buffs. ShieldWatch didn't read any buffs past the 16th. Increased this to 40.

When it is glyphed, the tooltip of the buff only sais : Absorbs Damage.
The number is only displayed on the description of the spell after you glyph it (spell tooltips change when you glyph the spells).

So the way the addon works, it cannot display the shield for stoneclaw unless blizzard fixes the buff tooltip.

Edit:
I made a post on European forums for it (http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/2098312334). If someone whould be kind enough to make a post on US forums as well for a chance to get more attention.

Also asking here too. If someone is on PTR and the tooltip is fixed please let us know.
Ah, I see that now. I misread it as being the tooltip for the buff. Sorry it won't work for the stoneclaw totem, but the update should keep it from giving an error.

Great addon idea! I plan on trying it out later when I get home. My only question: why are you using fuzzy logic to extract absorb values out of Buff Icon tooltips instead of using the combat log? Aren't tooltips fairly unreliable? Otherwise, keep up the good work.

The reason for that is that I don't really know how to read the combat log, and reading buffs is easy enough. It works for most of them.
