LFDAutoJoin

LFDAutoJoin automatically joins ready LFDs. It's very lightweight and has little customization.

LFDAutoJoin has a polite AFK behavior: if you are AFK you will still auto-join the instance, but after zoning you will print a friendly BRT (be-right-there) message to /party (or /say if the party wasn't initialized yet--e.g. latency). These AFK messages are configurable in the LUA file.

LFDAutoJoin will also play a custom sound when a LFD is ready, one more noticeable (possibly annoying) than the default. This sound is optional/configurable. You can also choose to only play the sound when AFK (default).

Toggle enable/disable of LFDAutoJoin (saved per account):

Please use LFDAutoJoin with respect to others. Heroics are repetitive, people are impatient; don't let them wait for more than a minute.

When they get kicked out of the Group because they are afk, its their own fault, no one likes to wait at one player for a quick Instance run. I mean, why search for an Group when you know you have to go AFK? Or when it is something you don't know before, that makes you go AFK, you Just don't klick on join...

My suggestion: This addon should not Join Groups while AFK... just my Opinion....

I considered this, but it's too easy to modify the few lines of code in this add-on to remove that restriction. I could add it as an option, though.

This add-on should be used respectfully. When you are AFK and hear the loud sound this add-on makes when a LFD pops, you should realize there's about 30 seconds to get back to the computer before people in-game start getting impatient.

DPS have to sit for 15 minute or more queues. People like to go AFK during this instead of waiting at their computer twiddling their thumbs.

My suggestion: This addon should not Join Groups while AFK... just my Opinion....

It would take someone that knows Lua to locate the code to remove, even for those people, it'll be easier for them to write the code they need themselves.

I could add it as an option, though.

I'm thinking another developer would notice the simple exclusion, copy some code, release their own add-on. I'm taking the GearScore philosophy; use the add-on responsibly.

How many people do you think would enable the restriction?

The idea would be impractical in the first place. When people go AFK they usually start their AFK at the zero mark--when the game starts counting idleness, not the 5 minute mark when the AFK status appears. In other words, it's no guarantee someone without an AFK flag isn't really AFK and just hasn't hit the 5 minute flag yet.

I don't believe it's the general public, but a minority--sure. For those people, there is vote kick.

I usually just do dailies, quest, or chat with guildmates... or perform some addon testing.

It's more for multi-taskers or those who prefer not to be glued to the monitor at all times. Between queues doing some laundry, preparing dinner, brushing teeth, feeding the pets, talking with buddies, etc. etc.

Maybe you should have it target the nearest player and set them to autofollow as well because you know it really sucks when a group leaves you behind while afk and it sucks for them as well waiting for you to catch up when you do return.. There are tons of things in the real world that ppl abuse everyday, yet we do not "ban" these things because a person takes it upon themselves to "abuse" them. All it really comes to is this is a moral issue. On one hand, there's the wait time in queue to get into a group. I agree, it's annoying when I miss a LFD ready check. On the other hand, from the perspective of the group of other people including DPS who have waited as long to get in, it takes 10 mins before you can vote to kick and hardly anyone is willing to wait that much longer to get a group going.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but I'm just laying out the issues at hand that might catch unwanted attention from Blizzard in addition to grief over irresponsible people using this tool. A simple "Use this responsibly" would not stop them.

I'm merely stepping in with the predictions of such people being irresponsible.

While i understand your point, mine was simply, the tool causes no harm if a player never misuses it.

and just because ppl misuse a tool, does not make the tool bad.

the tool here is a wonderful tool when used as intended.

This addon will auto save you to an instance already in progress. This includes Voa, ToC, IC etc etc. Was unable to do a 10 man IC this weekend, because this addon auto saved me to a bad instance.

LFDAutoJoin only interacts with LFD, not raids. What you're saying is unrelated to this mod. I would not think the event LFG_PROPOSAL_SHOW would fire once zoned into a saved raid, nor should LFDDungeonReadyDialogEnterDungeonButton:Click() affect the dialog window asking you to save yourself to a raid.

If you truly think it's this mod, do this: Disable this mod, then zone into an in-progress raid. When the window pops up asking if you want to be saved to the raid, type this in the chat box:

/run LFDDungeonReadyDialogEnterDungeonButton:Click()

(I'll try to test it myself when I get time)
