Skada Damage Meter  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.8.2
by: zarnivoop, funkydude, oscarucb

Skada is a modular damage meter with various viewing modes, segmented fights and customizable windows. It aims to be highly efficient with memory and CPU.

Usage

When you first start using Skada, there will be a window created by default. This window can be extensively customized in Skada's configuration panel; click the little cog icon to access a menu, and then click Configure. Depending on your user interface, there may also be a minimap button allowing quick access to this menu.

Skada supports multiple windows. To create a new window, click Windows in the addon's configuration panel. There are three built-in types of windows - Bar, Inline, and Data text. Bar is the classic damage meter window, and is very customizable. Inline shows the meter in a horizontal line, which can be useful for integration in custom user interfaces. Data text shows just one item at a time, and can also be displayed by any LDB display addon, such as Titan Panel, ChocolateBar, or ElvUI.

In the normal Bar window, you can left click on specific items for more detailed information, and right click for less details. At the very "top" is the list of all saved fight segments. Some data modes have several detailed information views. In this case you choose alternate views by holding certain keys pressed while clicking. For example, in Damage mode, you can Shift-click a player to see what enemies the player caused damage to. Tooltips will display how to reach the different views.

You can also use window buttons for selecting fight segment and mode directly.

Scrolling in Skada is done with the mousewheel.

Plugins

Skada is very easy to extend, and there are many extra plugin addons out there that add functionality, such as:

There is a forum thread for discussion on Skada.

"Skada" is Swedish for "Damage".

Scrolling please

Like the idea, works quite nicly
tried it ad noticed a few odditys.
You cant hide the minimap button, nor can you scroll down.
if you right click to go to the settings, I get sent to the settings for the LDB. Might be a carouell+Skada problem.
Also, would be nice to be able to show and hide mobs (like drake on malygos)

More to come keep up the good work

Re: Scrolling please

I've also noticed that after installing this, standing in org after about 10 minutes, everything starts to get jerky. This didn't happen before I installed it, and my computer is no dinosaur. Still testing to make positive it's your mod. I like it alot, I hope it's not.

Re: Re: Scrolling please

Looks to be your mod that is causing the issue. Is there any memory leak or anything?

I know this is a work in progress, and I'm really looking forward to the final product!

My initial observations:

I have the mod set to flip over to threat in combat and then back to damage out of combat. During combat the meter was showing my partner (the tank) at 100% threat and was not showing me (the dpser) on the threat meter at all.

Regarding dps: My partner was running Recount. According to it I was doing 214.6dps and my partner was doing 78.4 (we're on our level 52 alts). According to Skada for the exact same period I am doing 84.7dps and she is doing 34.6dps. The total amount and % of damage done between the two of us is very similar between both addons.

I know there are different standards for measuring dps, but Skada seems to be reporting significantly lower than Recount.

Looking forward to watching this mod grow and mature.

Edit: The ability to report to different channels would be greatly appreciated as well.

Just found and fixed a leak involving pets (on a summon event, the pet and owner was always stored, even if the owner was of no interest to us). It could potentionally have caused this.

The minimap button can now be toggled on/off in the configuration.

There is a slight difference in how Skada and Recount divides fights into segments currently. Skada is a bit quicker to do so; when you go out of combat, unless you are dead. So there will be a difference in numbers.

Added the report feature to the to-do list.

I'll test the mod out again and see if it still causes the same issue. Thanks for being so fast, I'm not fond of any of the other dps meters. I miss my assessment.

Hi there. Something I noticed, when I gave this a try. When Shift-left clicking the minimap button to reset, the entire Skada window disappears off of screen.

Seemed to have great potential for a damage/stat meter after just some dummy testing. I loved Assessment with it's navigation and data displays and this was similar.

Skada felt very quick and I really liked that it showed icons for the different damage types I did.

Reporting and other stuff I like to see is already on the to do list.

As for suggestions:
1) Currently Skada is a dynamic window created by the number of bars. Personally I would like a static window size as in Assessment using the mouse wheel to scroll up/down if number of bars became larger than the window. Why I like that is because I think it would make navigation easier as I now found myself left clicking to enter a display then right clicking to move back, but my right click was outside the window because bars where fewer and therefore not doing anything. But it might just be a habit from old Assessment so I will do some more testing to get used to it.

2) A way to reset (without the minimap button) and also pause data collection. F.e. /skada reset and /skada pause commands.

Edit: Getting the same problem as syrupk. After 10m or so, WoW gets very "jerky".

The thought of "Assessment-reborn" makes me drool.

Assessment was by FAR the best. It's menu navigation, the way it combined different elements into a single multi-segmented bar, it's minimalism while still being detailed (not needing a huge detail screen like Recount), everything.

(edit)
Yep, getting jerky too - and it's not a memory leak, memory usage is all low. Stood in Dalaran fishing, and after ~12-13 minutes my game started having mini-freezes for 0.25s or something, every 5 seconds?

I suspect it's more like something ramps up the CPU usage slowly but steadily.

If you haven't already there are tons of 'fail' addons recently that measure/announce common mistakes in raids. I actually use 'Failbot' which just announces when someone does something, it's very accurate and if you are having troubles finding how to track specific things this addon may have some answers:

http://www.wowinterface.com/download...9-FailBot.html

BTW the navigation is very nice, it is sort of annoying when you go to a menu with less bars and have to move your mouse etc but I find that it's still easy cause you can use the top title bar to move back if needed. Don't think it warrants massive changes, ust a change of habit on users.

Yes - Skada actually uses a library version of this addon for data collection.
