Balance Power Tracker  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.0.1
by: Copialinex [More]

Updated for WoD

BalancePowerTracker is an addon designed to provide a highly configurable bar to track Lunar/Solar energy, Eclipse direction and Peak buff.
It also can fire wanrnings when you gain Eclipse and provides energy prediction.
It's focused on using the CPU strictly necessary and no more.

PREDICTED ENERGY:
Predicted energy analizes your current cast/GCD and adds its cast time to your current energy, so BPT predicts where your energy is going to be, and if you are going to proc any Peak or not.
Unlike former versions, calculating predicted energy is now more difficult (due to fast switch when near 0 and lag), so it's done by approximation. This means that prediction accuracy is no longer 100% (near 100 and -100 is pretty much completely accurate and near 0 you can get +2/-2, usually +1/-1 averaged)
You can configure the indicators (bar, text, icons, arrow) of the mod to either display predicted or real info.
Also, you can configure the alerts to fire when you are going to get a Peak.
(Author's note: I feel Predicted Energy is the heart of BPT, I think without this option I wouldn't have made this addon, also it has taken up most of the time invested in the addon, however, I understand people value the choice to turn this off. At least, give it a try!)
WARNING: Euphoria is untested and Astral Communion error margin is higher

Provides LibSharedMedia, Masque & MikSBT support:

  • LibSharedMedia: Bar textures, alert sounds, fonts
  • Masque: Eclipse icons skin
  • MikSBT: Fire alerts through MikSBT

FAQ:

Can I disable it out of combat?
You can't disable it out of combat, but you can turn the Alpha Out Of Combar to 0, so it won't bother you (CPU load out of combat is pretty much 0).

The energy seems a little erratic...?
Predicted energy & peak are enabled by default, with this enabled, the mod will add the energy of you current cast to the bar, if you only want to change the size & position of the energy bar, I suggest you to uncheck this option.

Is there any way to have the awesome Blizzard art?
Enable default art module, you'll get a bar like Blizzard's with some options (not nearly as many as with the Eclipse bar module).

Green bar:
BPT is unable to access the bar/border texture, check if you have uninstalled it.

How do I configure it?
Type /bpt, in the tab "addons" you will find all the options for BPT.

Castbar mode ...? When casting a spell, the Eclipse bar will turn in a sort of castbar, still showing the arrow and the energy text. Just have this in mind: this isn't a castbar mod, so it shouldn't replace it, but this option reduces the places you need to have your eyes on (you need to have the spark enabled).

You can set the OOC alpha level to 0, it will still be there but you can't see it.
It's under Visibility tab in the options menu.

I have to say I really like the functionality of this addon, especially the way you've implemented the virtual tracker.

Currently, I feel this is only one step away from being perfect, and that's nothing but a cosmetic thing I'm hoping you eventually add.

:3

I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love an option to use Blizzard's beautiful new art for the Eclipse icons at the ends of the bar. I admit that I love how they designed it, so I think it's a bit of a shame.

Hope you consider it. <3

I could have sworn you used to be able to hide the icons, but I don't see the option to do so anymore, and that's something I want to be able to do

Great addon

You have done a fantastic job with this addon and It goes with my UI so much better than some other addons I have tried and the customization is great.

If you are looking for any feedback, not that much is needed as its already awesome. There are 3 things I would love to see added:

1. Adjust the padding between the icons and the bar they seem a bit far away from eachother... unless I missed it somewhere.
2. I would love to be able to adjust the font size/color for the bar timer.
3. It would be really cool if there was more than 1 arrow to choose from.

Great work and thanks for your time and creation.

1 and 2 are fairly simple, may be added in the next actualization, but the 3rd is very unlikely, since I need to find the textures where the arrows are, and I only remember that arrow and the one used in BG's (Seizng zones).

Love the Blizzard Icons. ^_^ I also like the option to enlarge the Eclipse you are headed towards - that is very nice. All of the errors I was getting before (whatever the issue was) are gone with 1.7.

I feel like I should be able to modify the padding between the icons and the Eclipse bar, but I can't seem to find the option if it is there.

Looking forward to the full Original Skin. =)

Edit: Just a few things after messing with it some more. It makes more sense in my head for the big icon to be basically showing me which ability I want to press (rather than which Eclipse I'm headed towards). For instance, I see a big moon and want to start spamming Starfire, but I should actually be Wrathing to Lunar. An option to invert the big icons would be wonderful. (If it's not an option you are interested in implementing, I'm not too concerned about it - I can just invert the vars each time you update.)

Sometimes it is difficult for me to see the vEnergy. Say I start with a Solar Eclipse. I begin to cast Wrath. I foresee energy with a blue bar. That's great, up until I hit the middle. Now my foreseen energy is a blue bar on top of my blue bar. Once I hit Lunar Eclipse, I see orange vEnergy over my blue energy and all is well again. I don't know if it is possible to switch colors when I hit 0 BP, but it would definitely be a nice feature.

Edit 2: I also realized there is no glow effect while in an Eclipse state around the Original Icons. I don't know if it is a limitation, bug, or something that you have not gotten around to yet.

Thanks for all of your work with this addon, it is wonderful. =) (I promise I don't mean to be picky.)

I'm sorry about the icon inverting feature, but that's one I won't be implementing, because I don't want to turn BPT in a rotation/priority addon, but maybe when I have time, I'll update OwlAdviser.

About vEnergy, I think it's more confusing have it change color based upon your energy. I, for example, have it in bright yellow and cyan colors. (you can always change vEnergy colors, this way, you'll see an orange bar over a blue bar when it matters, and a blue bar over another blue bar when it doesn't matter)

And about the original icons glow, it's implemented, but I agree with you it isn't very noticeable, that's because the glow texture for those icons is composed by another two textures: one that makes the icon a little brighter (this is the one implemented) and the other that shows both the icon and bar glow, but includes part of the original bar (this is the one not implemented). I fear you need to wait to the full original skin.

I'm sorry I had to deny both suggestions.

Distorting Certain Visuals.

Whenever I have this addon loaded it is distorting the visuals for my LuckyCharms2 addon.

Has anyone else had a similar problem, does anyone know why this happens, if it's planning on being fixed, or if there is a workaround?

Thanks!

The last version I found is 2.8.2 from January, it is giving me a lua error, but it's not related to BalancePowerTracker.

Re: Re: Distorting Certain Visuals.

I haven't had any problems with LuckyCharms2 until I started using Balance Power Tracker. If I disable Balance Power Tracker my LuckyCharms2 works fine but, when it is enabled the images (Skull, X, Triangle, etc...) are completely garbled. That's how I've narrowed it down.

It is possible that it is some kind of poor coding within LuckyCharms2 that is causing it because, as you said, it has not been updated in a while.

Are you using v2.8.2? If not, can you point me where to find your version?

The lua problem I'm having is about using the global "this", which was removed in 4.0.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Distorting Certain Visuals.

I'm using Version 3.0.0, found at Curse (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-a...kycharms2.aspx). Apparently it was more updated than I realized.

It's such a weird error. I've noticed that the images aren't exactly "garbled." There are just miniature images of Skull, X, Triangle, and Circle consistently throughout the LuckyCharms2 addon.

Weird! I enjoy your addon too much to disable it, though! Very nice.
