WoWInterface is happy to announce that we have teamed up with Wowhead and the Norganna's AddOns Gatherer team to provide you with an exclusive downloadable Wowhead database for display in-game by Gatherer.
This addon will provide you with all the information currently in the Wowhead database showing all known locations of herbs, minerals and treasures. Now you can simply load up Gatherer, plug this database into it, and know what can be found in the zone you are in, without having to discover them yourself.
Wowhead will be providing regular dumps of their database to the Norganna team, who will then update the GathererDB Wowhead addon exclusively here on WoWInterface.
How it works
The import procedure is simple and painless. Once you have installed the AddOn and have reloaded the game, ensuring that both Gatherer and GathererDB_Wowhead are activated. When you finally log into the game, follow this procedure to import the new data into Gatherer:

Um
I've been trying to for an hour to get this to work and it just WILL NOT work. I put the Addon into my Addon folder from Warcraft/Interface/Addon and it wont show up under Addons. I have Gatherer, HUD, and Slidebar all on. Can someone help because this is seriously pissing me off.

Re: Um
Kleborg,
Did you unzip GathererDB_Wowhead when you downloaded it? The rest of the steps sound about right. When you click on "Addons" in the lower left of the Character Selection Screen, do you see GathererDB_Wowhead listed, and is there a gold check in the checkbox? If not, then you are not installing it correctly. If you see it and you have the gold check, continue into the game and then right click the Gatherer icon on the SlideBar menu to open the Gatherer DB window, click "Configure" at the bottom right, and then select Database from the options on the left. You then simply click "import". If you still do not get it to work, let us know. Happy Sales, Nikk

Hi Nikk!
I got a couple of short questions for you (sorry if you already answered them, but so far I haven’t had the time to browse all the 168 replies already made below ). First I simply wonder if GathererDB overwrites/deletes the Gatherer nodes you already made before installing it, or if DB just adds the nodes that you’re still missing? I have also noticed that the DB nodes are a bit “pinkish” until you actually collect herbs from them. After that they turn grey as the original Gatherer nodes. This means that you actually can tell the difference between DB nodes that aren’t “discovered” yet and the ones that are, and I guess that’s your intention from the beginning. However, does this means that if you uninstall/turn off DB the pink nodes will disappear while the grey ones will stay? Best regards, Candy

Greetings Candy,
Yes, it should simply add to your database, just as when a guild mate or friend sends new nodes to you via the Gatherer database view or automatically via sharing. As to removing GathererDB, you surely can, and you will retain the nodes that were imported, but GathererDB provides the ability to track a few extra items not natively tracked by Gatherer. Believe they will still show, but may come up as unknown... really not sure, off hand. The red coloring comes from Gatherer itself, simply distinguishing the nodes that were imported, as compared to those you actually plucked yourself. If you really want, you can change it, in the Gatherer options, so that all nodes appear the same, but many find it somewhat helpful to be aware of those they did not pick themselves. Hope that helps, Nikk

I don’t think there will be until there’s another xpac. Its just one of those good intentions spoiled with too many great ideas and not enough people to implement.
What would be nice is if wow head allowed for the upload of gatherer files and parsed the data on there side integrating it with the existing info and then providing a continually updating download. It’s completely capable of being totally automated, but it either hasn’t been thought of it yet, they don’t know how to do it, or they just don’t care about this anymore.

ZyphoZ,
Once new areas are added with new nodes or the old areas are updated to move or change the locations, then we will be more than happy to release an update. As of right now, the nodes that existed at WoW 3's release have not changed and there have been no added locations. Happy Gatherering, Nikk

Tharien,
There have been no new areas added since the last update and the old areas have not had their node location moved or removed. Once either thing happens, we will release an update once the data is in and verified. As for your suggestion, the Wowhead client uploads all such locations and then, once the data is correlated between a number of users, it is "standardized". After any such changes, we obtain that "standardized" data and then provide it here. Happy Gatherering, Nikk

hello there. as always thanks for supporting a great addon.
question regarding the pinkish nodes referred to below. as was stated, when we import the gatherer DB, these nodes are pinkish to distinguish them from nodes that i have picked. however, i'm finding that when I gather a node that I have never gathered before, but there is a gathererdb node there, the result are 2 nodes. 1 being my node, and the other being the gathererdb node. is it meant to work in this way? I thought that once I manually collected from a node, it would delete/replace the gathererDB node that was there? |

Shamino,
It should update to "white", as you say, once you have gathered a node, all depending on the distance. There are some areas where there are nodes closer together, such as around UC and in Elwynn Forest, for sure- and likely others, too. For those, if you collect one, then another could well be next to it, just simply not active at the time(s) you have run through. If you notice this happening with every node, then there could well be some issue; let us know. Happy Gatherering, Nikk

after playing with the filter in the config frame, i think the issue is this.
i found a node in the basin, that gathererDB has 3 nodes for. It can either spawn saronite, rich saronite or titanium. I confirmed this by unchecking those 3 filters and then checking them 1 at a time to confirm which 3 nodes they were. I then gathered the node, which happen to be a saronite node. The gathererdb saronite node was replaced as expected, but the other 2 nodes (rich saronite and titanium) remained. I assume this is 'working as intended', but it is confusing. My preference would be to see a single node "circle" that represents all 3, as opposed to 3 seperate node circles, which all blend together. any thoughts on that ? |

Shamino,
Ah, see what you mean. We will take a look and see if there is not some better way. Were you to gather them manually, they should be the same spot, just simply change depending on the latest thing you pulled from that location. The DB is a bit different, as it adds everything prior to Gatherer's real start up, so there is little interaction. Can see how that would be odd, though, and will talk more with the main Gatherer developer to see if there is something we can do to address the issue. Happy Gatherering, Nikk
