Open Rolls

Version: 1.2
by: conner686 [More]

Attempts to simplify the mundane portions of being master looter, such as rolling shards and handing out BoE greens. There is also an optional companion addon, OpenRoll Windows, that displays roll windows for other players whenever items are rolled off.

/openroll [item] begins a a roll for [item].
/openroll 4x[item] begins a roll for 4 [item]s

The addon will track who has rolled, and at the end of the designated time print the winners.

When looting items, a number of new buttons are displayed for items capable of being master looted. These buttons allow you to quickly loot the item to a designated banker ["Bank"], disenchanter ["Disenchant"], to a random member of the raid ["Raid"], to a specific member of the raid ["Award"], or perform an open roll as described above.

All configuration is performed via the blizzard options frame.

The most recent version greatly extends the ways for third party addons to communicate with OpenRolls. Almost all functionality of the rolls can be customized on a per-roll basis, including things like the expected roll range and length of the individual rolls, and how the winner of a roll is determined. For more information on this, see the file Third-Party.txt.

1.2
Players with non-standard characters should now be handled properly
Horde players should now be able to whisper each other properly

1.1
Major overhaul to the backend. More support for third party extensions, as well as communication with OpenRollWindows.

Really nice addon.
Unfortunatly i use this only for one reason: It's much faster if i want to disenchant an item in 25raid (and we disenchant a lot).
I have every other function disabled.
I just have a little problem: The check button "confirm" is half the off to the right so 50% of it goes over the other button.
Does anybody else have this problem?

(I checked also the button to not ask for a confirmation, but the window still appears.)

To the best of my knowledge, the only addon that hooks into openrolls is my guild's in house loot tracker, which is pretty awkward to use and tailored rather specifically towards my guild's loot rules, so I can't even begin to suggest anybody not me use it. The basic idea is that OpenRolls provides the generic functionality most guilds use in one way or another [randomly distribute greens, disenchant wasted epics], and then to the right any guild specific functions get added, if somebody in the guild wants to take the time to do so.

A couple of questions

Hello. Your addon seems exaclty what my guild is looking for to manage our rolls.
On the last screen you posted you show Open Rolls modified by external addon.
Which addons modify Open Rolls? Does the Need/Greed buttons that appear mean that if ML clicks them Open Rolls will ask for Need/Greed rolls?

Unfortunately, I'm not certain it can help you, at least not as its currently set up. Everybody has to roll the same range, or their roll is ignored. So while you can set it up to allow the 1-500 for main spec rolls, the guy who rolls 1-100 for off spec will get yelled at.

If you develop your own roll tracker, there are a few places you can hook into the GUI if interested, but that's the extent of it.

Great Mod. Have a question tho. My guild has different variation of rolls. 500 Main spec (first roll only), 200 roll on main spec if you already won a 500 roll along with 100 roll for off-spec. Is there anyway could create a way the master looter can set up priority rolls or what not?

That's not supposed to happen, but I know what message you're talking about. Does it do this consistantly?

When the roll happens all persons whom rolled get a message that says something to the effect that you have already rolled for the item please contact master looter urgent.

Can you help, or do you need the correct syntax of the whisper?

Is there a way to supress the wispers

We love this addon, we just want to supress the wispers to the people whom roll its spammy. Looked at all the LUA's could not find the call. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Couple of Things

Also, there's no need to list all the people who didn't roll, it just spams so much on the Raid channel. Usually only a few people roll for an item. [/b]
That's an option that can be turned off. The descriptions aren't particularly useful, I suppose, but the one you're looking for is "Provide Warning Period." If it is checked, it lists people who haven't rolled, and if unchecked it does not. The way my guild uses this, it is almost entirely used for distributing shards, in which case the spam will tend to be less overwhelming.

I imagine a way to toggle between the two options would be useful, I'll have to keep that in mind.

As for hiding rolls, I have no idea how that would work. I could probably hide the rolls on your screen easily enough, but you mention hiding the information from the raid and that eludes me.

Couple of Things

I enter someone's name in the Disenchant box, click the button nothing happens.
Edit: Disenchant is now working.

Also, it would be nice if you could suppress the /random rolls from showing up in chat like some other mods do. Sometimes you don't want the raid to know who or how many people are rolling.

Also, there's no need to list all the people who didn't roll, it just spams so much on the Raid channel. Usually only a few people roll for an item.

I couldn't get XLoot to actually load, but it seems to work well enough with Butsu, although the frames don't quite line up as nice as one might like. I suspect XLoot would behave similarly.

I hadn't considered that somebody might replace their loot frame, I'll have to look into that.
