GathererDB WoWHead  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.0.2013-06-15
by: Esamynn, dinesh, MentalPower, Nechckn, Norganna, norganna_uploader

WoWInterface is happy to announce that we have teamed up with Wowhead and the Norganna's AddOns Gatherer team to provide you with an exclusive downloadable Wowhead database for display in-game by Gatherer.

This addon will provide you with all the information currently in the Wowhead database showing all known locations of herbs, minerals and treasures. Now you can simply load up Gatherer, plug this database into it, and know what can be found in the zone you are in, without having to discover them yourself.

Wowhead will be providing regular dumps of their database to the Norganna team, who will then update the GathererDB Wowhead addon exclusively here on WoWInterface.

How it works
The import procedure is simple and painless. Once you have installed the AddOn and have reloaded the game, ensuring that both Gatherer and GathererDB_Wowhead are activated. When you finally log into the game, follow this procedure to import the new data into Gatherer:

  • Open Gatherer's configuration dialog.
  • Click on the red "Database" tab on the left-hand side of the dialog.
  • Click the import button in the main panel.

Make sure to add GathererDB-Wowhead to your favourites list here on WoWInterface and check back periodically to see if it's been updated, or get an email sent to you whenever they update it if you have those notifications turned on. Any time they update it, just re-download GathererDB-Wowhead and update your local copy.

Help improve the database
If you want to contribute your data back to Wowhead to continue expanding the database, please download and install the Wowhead client (available for both PC and Mac) and just follow the instructions on their site.

About Gatherer
Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.

The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining, or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on the minimap.

When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations clearly marked on each zone's map.

About Wowhead
Wowhead was created with one sole intent: to provide World of Warcraft players with an extensive database and tools to enhance their gaming experience. This website is our contribution to this wonderful game.

Our user community is a big part, if not the biggest part, of Wowhead. Almost all of our information comes from our users, through data uploads from the Wowhead Client, comments on database entries and screenshot submissions! The site also features forums, where users can ask questions, discuss important Warcraft-related topics, recommend and share favorite addons, and much more!

Updated to support Gatherer 4.0.4.

19 DEC 2010 Updated the node list and have included what data is available for the gigantic changes seen in WoW 4.x.

09 DEC 2009 Updated to the most recent set of nodes and updated TOC for WoW 3.3

18 FEB 2009 Updated to the latest nodes, including those recently renamed in 3.0.8.

29 DEC 2008 Corrected some inconsistencies between GathererDB and Gatherer. Included more node locations.

05 DEC 2008 Corrected issues in the script pertaining to Icecrown, node IDs, and a few more nodes included in the DB.

04 DEC 2008 Corrected Icecrown naming, items should now appear in that zone.

03 DEC 2008a The correct, expanded DB file and other changes.

03 DEC 2008 Added yet more Northrend and other WotLK node locations, formatting of file, et cetera.

Not Working

Everytime I click on the Side Icon near the map I keep getting this red lettered error message.

Interface\AddOns\Gatherer\Gatherminiicon.lua:157 Attempts to index 'upvalue" (a nil value)

Whats this mean?

I downloaded the most up to date version and it keeps grouping gatherer in the out of date listings

Re: DB option to upload, not findable?

Pappism,

You need to install GathererDB_Wowhead just as you would any other AddOn. You also need to ensure it is marked to load in the main WoW AddOns manager- only then will you see the "import" option, in game.

Hope you are up and running soon,

Nikk

Re: Not Working

NeptusXero,

Your issue is addressed on the main board.

In a nutshell, you need to upgrade Gatherer.

Hey guys, love this addon. Thanks so much. My only problem is that for some reason I cannot get the database to sync with gatherer. I have Gatherer 3.1.9 and have downloaded the latest version of DB, but when I open gatherer config and go to the database plugin and hit the download button it does nothing except toggle gatherer being active/inactive.

I know its not working because I have used this addon for a while and have watched the status bar as the DB syncs up. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

MarcAntony,

Just while you import, ensure that you have the SlideBar and the HUD active.

It shouldn't really matter, but we have heard time and again, that it has made the difference between a successful import and the behavior you are seeing.

Let us know of your progress,

Nikk

Scootie,

As noted below, ensure that you have the Gatherer HUD and the SlideBar active as you go to import.

Although it should not matter, some have reported seeing the same issues if they were disabled.

If they are off, simply enable them while you do the import and then you can disable them again.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

I tried an import with the Gatherer HUD and the SlideBar active. Nodes showed up as you expect, but after logging out and back in, they're gone.

I tried several times on 2 different characters, with the same result each time.

Itanius,

About the only thing that would cause what you describe is to have your "SV" directory, or the gatherer.lua file marked as read-only or some other permission setting that is not allowing your local machine account to write access.

Verify that nothing is set to read-only and that, preferably, your local machine account has ownership of all files within ..\WorldofWarcraft\WTF\Account\<Youar_WOW_Account_Name>\SavedVariables.

Check that, reset if needed, and then try again.

Let us know of your findings,

Nikk

Unfortunately, that's not the case. I have checked the permissions for those folders and all files within. Additionally, I don't experience any issues with other AddOns saving their settings between console reloading or relogging.

I guess my next step will be to delete my existing saved variables for Gatherer and try again. Thanks for the quick response.

Edit: A fresh saved variables file didn't work, either, which is interesting. I've used this mod before...

Edit2: Looking at my saved variables file, it did increase to 2.73mb after the database import. Why it's not displaying any nodes after either a console reloadui or a relog is baffling (yes, they're set to display).

Ok, so I've narrowed down the problem. The issue is that the node data for Northrend isn't saving. I tested this with my priest herbologist and my rogue with treasure tracking. I can see nodes in all zones except those in Northrend. They show up immediately after an import, but they don't persist.

Edit: My own gathers in Northrend don't persist, either.
