Disabling Healbot doesn't disable/hide the healbot frame

Hi, I'm using Healbot on a couple of my hybrid toons. Since they're hybrids, and I'm not always healing, I disable healbot when I'm not a, well, healbot. However, in the new version, disabling healbot will only temporarily hide the healbot frame. Soon after disabling them, they will reappear.

I've seen multiple reports of this, but even in the latest version, this bug is still there.

=== Healing tab ===
Self: Show a bar for yourself
Group: Show bars for your group.
Tanks: Show bars for the tanks
Target: Show bars for members you target, note up to 10 raid members can be checked.
Extra: Show bars for any raid members not selected from the above, extras can be filtered on this tab.
Pets: Show bars for any pets in your party/raid
Thanks, I'd always wondered what "extra" was for!

Well I've searched and not seen anything on it. Is it true that Healbot automatically calculates the amount of health the person has when you cast a heal and downranks the heal based on that in an attempt to prevent overhealing? And if so, is there a way I can turn this off?

I've gotten some flack for using Healbot from some guild members because they feel that this is the way it works, and based on what I've seen, I'm not so inclined to disagree because they appear to be correct. We think it has actually caused some problems on major overheal fights since in the 1.5 - 2 seconds it's taking to cast the already calculated downranked heal the tank has taken a huge hit or crushing blow and the heal he got after it should have/could have been much bigger.

I'd love to continue using it, but I need to find out it this is true. Hopefully I and my guildmates are incorrect and it doesn't do this. But if it does, I'm really hoping there's an option to turn it off that I just haven't found yet. We're headed to Magtheridon for the first time tonight and I'd love to know something for sure about this before then. Hopefully someone has the answer.

I think some people are confused by the "suggested heal" box, thinking that it's going to do that when you click.

Y'know ... though it doesn't *ANYMORE*, healbot used to scale heals automatically -- and that's why it has a bad reputation. Just because they fixed it now doesn't mean that back in the day is wasn't a "noob" tool -- because it was.

This is by far the best healing addon for the weight; and it's worth it's memory usage in gold IMO. Much <3, and thanks for keeping it updated!

Strife[CUK],

Good day to you. Could we please add the ability to arange the groups as needed?

It would really help to have the Targets list amd MT targets next to each other and have them left justifed in the HB window.

Well, that's good to hear. And I can tell you exactly why I thought it - now granted I never did any extensive testing, but it seemed that on a couple different occasions that I observed, if I cast a heal at someone when they were full, I was overhealing them by significantly less than the value of what the full heal should have been, and not just a number that would have been a normal, non-crit heal. The numbers were low enough that it almost had to be a lower rank I thought. Again, no hardcore testing, just something I thought I noticed and then when people complained about it, I thought there may be something to it.

At any rate, no matter. If it is an impossible thing, then I am glad to hear it! Now I can come back to anyone wanting to argue about it and let them know they are full of it. Thanks!
it is an impossible thing during combat, out of combat the mod will cast a lower rank to conserve mana, this out of combat functionality can be switch off by turning off smartcast.

edited to add, maybe your guild mates are unhappy at your efficient healing.. i suspect some of my guild mates dislike the fact im usually the top of the effective healing and the bottom of the overhealing meters ;-)

Healbot doesn't auto-scale heals based on damage, because that's not possible anymore since WoW 2.x. because Blizzard made some very radical code changes to actually force people to think when they play, instead of making it easy mode! For each rank of a certain healing spell, you need to set a different key/mouse combination. It will show you the health the player has lost, but it won't adjust heals for that. So if your target has lost about 1500 health and you cast a healing spell with healbot that would normally heal for say 2500 health, then you simply overheal for 1000 health. Also when a player has lost say 2500 health and you cast a healing spell with healbot that normally heals for about 1500 health, then you simply underheal for 1000 health. So no auto-adjusting anywhere is done, and I think healbot never ever had such a feature to begin with.

Raid members disappear when dead

I upgraded from RC 1 to RC 4 and started having a problem that when raid members died their frames were basically disappearing from the Healbot window. You can still click on them, and some you can see their name extremely faint, but for all purposes their names disappear.

I rolled-back to RC1 and the problem goes away. Tried 3.0 release and had the same problem. Anyone else seen this. I tried the default skin and had the same issue. I tired all different skin options but since it goes away if I roll back to RC-1 I am assuming it is something else

Best mod ever btw :-)

Re: Q about using Healbot in a raid

I feel like an idiot for asking this since I've been using healbot forever, but how do you make the players in other groups show up in raids?

I was doing the HH quest with some guildies and we set up a raid to do it (my first time in a raid). Everything seemed fine until we added the sixth person. At that point, my party list (in healbot) dropped back to 3 (myself and two others). The other people told me I needed to go to the Raid tab in the Social screen and drag the groups off onto my UI. I did and now I could see everyone, but I still couldn't figure out how to heal people in the other group.

I think went into the healbot config screen and choose the skin for Raid, but all that seemed to do was make the boxes smaller -- I still couldn't see the other players in a clickable healbot panel. What am I doing wrong?
Try looking at the options under the "healing tab" and enable them:

Tanks: Show bars for the tanks

Pets: Show bars for any pets in your party/raid

Improvements

Could it be made possible to manually sort party/raid members in any custom order?

Currently I enable "target" and "extra" on the "Healing tab" options, and then select various groupmembers to pin them down to reorder them the way I like. But then my HoT icons keep showing up behind the names instead of infront of the names like I selected in the "Tips Tab" options. Also when pinning down groupmembers to reorder them the way I currently do, the HoT's not only show behind there names, but also in the healthbar itself (instead of out of the bar like I set in the options tab), this has the disadvantage that the health the player has lost is sometimes unreadable because the HoT icon is blocking up the view of the numbers.

Also the HoT icons sometimes randomly disappear even if the HoT is still active. Also a time and stack indicator for HoT's would be nice, because the way they are fading now is not accurate enough.

Compatibility With Other Healing Comm Addons

I'm a Healbot user myself, but I've found that the utility of it in large raids is lacking when the other healers aren't also running it. I've had no luck convincing the other healers to switch to Healbot (nor have they convinced me to switch from it), but I think I might be able to arrange a compromise if there are any other communication addons that are compatible.

So, my question is this:
Is Healbot's communication system compatible with any other similar addons', such as any of the Ace addons that link with HealComm2.0? If not, could it be made that way?
