GrimUI  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 7.0.0.00
by: Grimsin [More]

What is this? - This is a full replacement for the default Blizzard user interface(UI). The general idea came from a UI known as MazzleUI. The GrimUI core itself controls your unit frames, artwork, some action buttons and a whole lot more! Best of all, it does this with out you spending hours on placing frames. It looks and functions much like MazzleUI did, it is also similar to nUI if you are familiar with that. GrimUI out of the box should require no setup itself. Macaroon handles the main action buttons and is included. GrimUI will setup a default Macaroon layout. Check out GrimUI on Facebook GrimUI Fan Page

How do I use it? - First you must download this file. Then back up your current Interface and WTF folders in your World of Warcraft directory, in case you decide to revert back. It is best to delete your current WTF and any AddOns in the AddOn folder however GrimUI should install and function with other AddOn's just fine. Place the the files in the zip file you downloaded into the Interface/AddOns folder.

When you first enter the game on a fresh install the chat frames may appear funny, or its possible sometimes for errors to pop on fresh installs if your say under attack when you log in or in a party or raid. If your chat frames or other frames are out of place Right-Click the GrimUI button on the right side of the screen to access the various reset buttons in the GrimUI options panel. The options panel can also be accessed through the normal Blizzard AddOn Options.

GrimUI should now be setup! Other AddOns that are included with the GrimUI for your convenience may require additional setup.

Will it work for me? - This UI was designed on a wide screen in a 1920 x 1200 resolution. It was also designed to self adjust for any resolution. I have tested it at other resolutions and they seem to work fine. If you have any problems please post them in the bug section.

Please post bug reports here - GrimUI Bug Reports

Will it work in the future? - You can update most AddOns included in the package either here or at Curse without losing your settings. The GrimUI interface will continue to be updated and grow as long as their is sufficient interest from the community AND motivation for its coders Any help testing, or coding would be greatly appreciated. Donations are even more appreciated! See donation button at the top or bottom of this page!

Would you like to see something added to the GrimUI? Or changed? Or maybe even removed?

Post feature requests here - GrimUI Feature Request

NOTE/UPDATE: Version 4.0.01 Has many variable changes, a fresh install is recommended!! If you experience errors please try removing the GrimUI.wtf file.

PartyFrames are now movable as well as most other frames!!!! Ctrl-LeftClick just above your name or a party members name to grab a hold of the frame and move it. To reset the frames click the rest button in the GrimUI options panel.

You can attempt to use the WTF's from previous versions of the interface, but note this does not always work and can cause other problems.
Directions for using previous WTF files can be found here - Dealing with WTF's

Want a look we don't provide? Create a skin and submit it, it could be in the next release! - GrimUI Skin Templates

Nice job nonetheless. I did hear mazzle has returned but no idea if its true. He probably wont renew his old ui though. Those were the good ole days. Good luck with this. I dont have high res, so it wont work, but like the idea that someone is reliving the glory days :P

Well although i have similar look and functionality the one thing Mazzle had over me is the easy setup. This is a bit rough to get setup even if you have the res to support it. Working on it though. Also runs heavy on resources, Mazzle had made some things a bit more efficient. Mazzle's UI ran at about 60megs for me. Mine right now is pushing 100megs. Of course one thing that im running now, that was not then, is QuestHelper and its 20 some odd of those megs by itself.

BTW.

Also it can be made to work on any resolution by adjusting the scaling on individual addons and various frames. Most important would be DiscordUnitFrames and KgPanels. some adjusting of the chat windows and some buttons as well. If anyone sets it up in a lower res and wants to post a lower res setup that would be great. Hopefully ill come up with an easy setup core like Mazzle's. What he did was a TON of work though. My hats are certainly off to him.

Yah man, that dood rocked. Alot of "If" statements, so im guessing he bridged it together with a delay in order to go through different operations. I will give this a try and see how it pans out. If I do get it going ill post on here to let ya know

Unfortunately as of right now the actionbars will not auto setup the buttons.
As far as the TomTom arrow. That is QuestHelper's arrow you should be able to right click it and bring up a small menu, one of the options is locked. It starts off locked so everyone must unlock it and move it up.

Im not sure what your asking as far as the problem with Macaroon? The only way to make the button placement stick is to make sure EVERYONE has the server side save options for macros turned off or at lest i think thats why haha. I can not remember off hand what the command is in game to turn it off but it is somewhere in the forums on this site. Was in the Mazzle forums i believe but those have disappeared? I have seen it else where to.

Macaroon has advanced key bind and macro options that Domino's does not have. Or at lest it did last time i checked have not used dominoes in awhile. Eventually i will figure out a way to make them set themselves up but for now it has to be done by hand. the actual bar layouts should transfer over though.

The bars you are missing are the Bagbar and Menubar. You need to take the macro that should have transferred over and drag it to the location of the screen where the Macaroon bar is for it. This button and the context menu button are hard to see, in fact the context menu one is invisible until mouse over. They are in the bottom right window closer to the top. If you were familiar with MazzleUI the Macro's go almost exactly where MazzleUI had its hotspots for the same things. Context Menu and Bagbar/Menubar.

When i get a chance i will post a screen shot with the locations circled. On my way out the door ATM. Ill hopefully release an update later.

I love this UI!! I did find that if you are having issues reading the fonts on the upper bar, you can read them fine again if you change your video resolution to a widescreen res and put the client in windowed mode.

The one thing that I missed in this compilation was ArkInventory. I ended up installing it separately, without any conflicts.

Ah good idea never thought about trying to put it in windowed mode and trying a wide screen res. Hehe im on a westinghouse 26.5in monitor it all looks fine to me. The one big error i noticed when not in wide screen resolution is when your in a party or a raid. The duf/sraidframes windows will appear over the target cave and over the side art.

As for ArkInventory, why is it you prefer Ark over Baggins? Mazzle had replaced Baggins with Arkinventory. i wasnt to keen on it but didnt use it much. I ran both for awhile but in the end dumped ark.

I like how you can do automatic sorting in Ark, such as by crafting, armour, etc. It helps when I'm vendoring items. Also, you can view what all of your other toons have on them. I don't know if baggins has these capabilities, but if it does, let me know!

As for the UI, I'm finding some compat. issues with Dranei. The personal hud shows up in the upper left corner instead of next to the 3d portrait, and when selecting an opponent, the arch is raised. I haven't tried combat with them yet. I have tried this with several classes of Dranei and it happens with all.

That is a DUF error. Trying typing /duf and then loading the default. It may have issues because everything was set up with horde. I did not notice anything that was trying to make it class specific but that doesn't mean it wasn't there haha.

A cut-down version?

Hey I love the way it looks. I got here seeking for a working version of MazzleUI and this seems to be a great choice.
But...
I got a question for you...
If I delete some of the addons included in the pack, and replace them with w/e addons I want in the game - will it work?
All I really want are the Artwork, 3D models, and maybe the minimap. And I wanna add other addons maybe as well.

Is that somehow possible?

P.S.
Does it work properly with vehicles?

It somewhat works properly with vehicles. The Warlock profile does at any rate.

As for addons that it requires. DiscordUnitFrames and the GrimUI are the key peices. All of the other addons can be changed out with minimal impact on the general layout or functionality.

Let me add to that lol. ZMOB is also required for the 3d models to function.
