Aura Unit Frames

Addon is currently in pre Alpha

New unit frames that are currently in development.

Whats my goal with this? Well my plan is to create an addon that will allow the user to highly customise their UI, along the same lines as Discord unit frames allowed, but without all the extra stuff that comes with DUF, that in my opinion, makes it too bulky.

Aims

* To make the addon easy to use, yet have a high degree of scalability and customizability
* To make sure only things that are needed and actually to do with unit frames are added/included in the addon
* Make sure everything in the addons options are clear to use and understand. So that you don't need to spend 4 weeks learning how to move the frames around


Hopefully I'll have something to show soon, getting back to uni has slowed my down a bit and changing my coding style a few times recently hasn't sped anything up. Thankfully this semester is far more forgiving work wise so things should continue to move along.

Portraits added
Combat info added to the portrait (dmg in and out)
Player pet added
Party pets added

Backgrounds added to the statusbars
Percentages added to the statusbars text info
Some re-anchoring of a couple of frames to avoid odd tooltips

Known bug - Life tap does not show the hp loss on the combat info, bug on blizz's side as its they're code I'm using.

Quick status update a lot of background stuff is now in place, and health and manabars I can throw together for any frame with ease.

Next is adding in the options frame for those parts. Then it'll probably be buffs.

Once I get those 2 parts sorted I should have a releasable version for people to start playing around with.

Back to work

now working on a 3rd version of this, hopefully have a player frame + options for you to play with and give me feedback on soon, but no promises this time, job hunting and my current crappy job may force me to go slower than I want to.

Very happy to see you're back

For my purposes, just having the mod kept up to date beats the he~~ out of fonts and textures. Whatever you suggest would be good to me.

Heres a question for anyone that still reads these comments what do you want texture and fontstring option wise?

Option to set a texture and fontstring per layer, or one texture and fontstring you can set to any layer?

Trying to decided and I know what I'd prefer, but wonder what people would be interested in.

I'm not dead honest

sorry about the complete and utter lack of updates but Uni turned out to be a lot busier than I expected :S No matter I'll have a new version up next week. Don't expect much out of the early ones mind you, rebuilding from scratch. Soo many things I can do better

A challange

Right I have some free time today and quite a few notes etc sorted, lets see if I can't get the basics in for today (i.e. everything other than the customisation menu) atm the list of customisable things runs at about 3 pages long, and that was using shorthand :S

Anyway you should also get to see some new features, xp bar, rep bar, threat bar (maybe), threat indicator (maybe), raid target icon, 3d portrait (maybe). Though the maybe ones might not make it into this version, especually the 3D portraits that might be in, but wont be viewable without the customisation code.

Total rewrite

After having split the frames into sepereate subaddons It became apparent that it would be simpler and easier to start again from scratch. Thankfully the writing of the first version has made doing this far far easier. So I should still beat the nov 13th date for getting a version out, dunno if it'll be a release candidate but wont be to far off I hope (barring uni work getting nuts).

This time round I'll be coding with the info in place for making the customisations far easier, instead of from the "how the hell do I even do this" method of coding :P

I'm also hopefully going to get party frames to actually use the new secure headers to make them hideable istead of just set to invisible. But we'll see how that goes.

So now is the time to tell me what you would like to see added

Right with the release of WotLK now so close I'm going to focus solely on getting a version sorted for that, which means that there will be no new updates for this version.

right things with the house have calmed down so I'll spend next week doing a wotlk version, and probably add in a few more missing little features.

expect a change to modular as well. Should also help clean up the code for customisation too.

Okay slight delay to my plans atm, sorting out the house atm for showing to hopefully sell so my time for updating the addon is a little thin atm, hopefully manage to get some work done on it before the end of the week though.

If I get a chance I'll update the pics a bit to be of the latest version (dabnels also a hunter now)


Also I've noticed that I've managed to make the layout look similar to the default UI, thats more fluke than anything but I like it. Not what my personal version will be but good for a default layout me thinks.

Hm i have nothing to do with the updater I just upload it to here I assume the nice ppl here take care of the next part Hm I've checked my packaking its set to extract a auraunitframes folder.

install via wowiupdater

when i tried to install this addon via the wowiupdater, it didnt extract to a folder like /addons/addonname/files it extracted to /addons/files
not sure if thats a packaging error with the file or if its with the updater, but i did have it happen with another mod.
just a heads up
this addon looks great btw

Well it'll either but modular or I'll just let you hide the other frames, not decided which yet.

My next stop is to do a WotLK version atm, then its back to do the customisation, and add in anything I may of missed so far (combat indicator, raidicon, casting bar , xp bar, rep bar, agro bar(wotlk only) and so on )

Edit: Modular is doable I think seeing as none of the frames are defined in the core code.
