Shadowed Unit Frames  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v4.4.8
by: Shadowed, Nevcairiel

SUF focuses on a simple configuration while maintaining the flexibility that most users will care about, preventing unnecessary bloating of the addon that sacrifices performance. While you aren't going to be able to set the health bar to be exactly 3.14 pixels outside of the unit frames, you can change options you actually care about such as bar height, ordering, frame height and so on. To speed up configuration, you can configure multiple units at the same time through the global configuration. For example, if you want to set the height of the Player, Target, Focus and Party frames to 50 then the height of Target's Target, Target's Target of Target, Focus Target to 30 you can easily do this by changing two options instead of having to do it seven times.

However, should you need a little bit of extra configuration do not despair! An advanced option is included that will unlock additional configuration giving finer control over the configuration.

Donations are not required, but are appreciated!

Anchoring
Are you driven crazy by your party frames not aligning up exactly with your player frames, even if it's only half a pixel off? The anchoring system will let you solve all alignment issues, by allowing you to anchor a frame to another and set a simple offset from the frame it is anchored to, or by manually setting the X/Y position of the frame.

Using the screen shot as an example, if you drag the player frame the other frames will move with the player frame preserving the alignment and spacing. Each frame can still be manually positioned wherever you want, but this gives you a way of easily anchoring and moving frames around without having to use a ruler.

Zone configuration (Disabling options/units by zone type)
Units and modules can be enabled or disabled based on the type of zone you are in. For example, if you want to see party targets and party pets while you are in an arena but nowhere else then you can use the visibility options to enable it only while inside an arena. Modules can also be disabled by zone type, if you want to see party auras while in a raid instance but nowhere else you can disable the module in raid instances only.

Profiles do not have to be swapped and it is all automatic.

Units
Supports unit frames are as follows:

Player: Player, Pet, Pet Target
General: Target, Target of Target, Target of Target of Target, Focus, Focus Target
Party: Party, Party Pets, Party Targets, Party ToT
Raid: Raid, Raid Pet, Main Tank, Main Tank Target, Main Assist, Main Assist Target, Boss, Boss Target, Boss ToT, Main Assist ToT, Main Tank ToT
Arena: Arena, Arena Target, Arena Pets, Arena ToT
Battleground: Battleground, Battleground Target, Battleground Target

Features

  • Tags: Includes a simple tagging system that can be customized in virtually any way using Lua, even if something isn't included by default odds are you can make the tags
  • Incoming Heals: Supports the Blizzard Events for incoming heal data, no external libraries needed
  • Auras: Can be set to only show auras you casted, or can cast on others. Can enlarge auras that you casted, and hide the cooldown ring on the timers of auras you didn't cast as well to make it more obvious which ones you casted and which ones you didn't
  • Aura Timers: You will need a mod such as OmniCC to show timers on buffs and debuffs
  • Aura Indicators: Display colored squares or icons for certain auras on any unit
  • Fader: Fades frames when out of combat and inactive (100% mana/no target)
  • Class Power (Eclipse, Holy Power, etc): Supports all of the class power features from Eclipse to Burning Embers.
  • Highlighting: Border highlighting of frames based on mousing over them, curable debuffs, aggro or you are targeting/focusing them
  • Range Checking: Fades frames out that are out of range of you
  • Exportable Layouts: If you have a layout, or your friend has a layout you want to try out you can export/import SUF layouts by going to /suf -> Layout Manager
  • Profiles: You can change from any profile to another one without reloading your UI, should you want to use a completely different layout based on zone you can easily switch profiles without hassle

Pretty much all the general unit frame settings are in, health bars, cast bars, power bars, portraits, indicators and so on.

Modules
Basic module support is included, should you be interested in building a module see the documentation on github for more information.

Any chance of it being added in a later version? What about a feature to change the order of the dk runes. I am used to Blood, Frost, Unholy, like the talent trees and presence order, but SUF has them set to Blood, Unholy, Frost. Not to worried about the rune thing, but it would be nice. Thanks. This is an amazing addon.

Also, I keep getting error messages when I try to set focus. There is 2 different errors it gives when I try to set focus. The add-on in the first error confuses me lol. I have no clue what it is. The second says it occured in Shadowed Unit Frames.

I ended up just replacing the OnUpdate script by hooking OnEnable so checkRange is fine as a local after all. If you are interested, just a couple of things I modified:
-halt the function early if unit is offline, set alpha to 1 and nil the OnUpdate till he comes back online
-make the WoW API calls local, 0.5 sec updates for every frame is quite a lot
-just a personal thing, I use cyclone (24 yards) to check range for arena1-5 as that's what I really care about on my resto
-might end up running a single OnUpdate for all the frames and force update when necessary, not decided on that one yet

With updateHealthBar it's nothing fancy, I just want to use my own offline color instead of the hard coded grey.

An unrelated question: I was playing around with the tag system and for testing purposes I added the following new tag: Disabled event discovery, no frequent updates, PLAYER_TARGET_CHANGED as the only event. The function is simply:

function() return GetTime() end

Assigned it to power bar left text on the player frame. It types the return value once after a reloadui but doesn't update at all no matter how many times I change targets. What am I screwing up?

Sacredhouse: It's not something that will be added to the core in all likely hood, but I haven't looked at it. Runes should follow Blizzards default setup (Which, they don't right now) I'll fix that later thought.

nailertn: The actual amount you save from an OnUpdate by localing Blizzard functions is essentially trivial, I do it for functions I define for namespace pollution/unnecessary but overall it doesn't really help you.

For example, *target units are all having full updates called every 0.50 seconds and those are calling more global functions than range is, but you don't really notice a performance hit and that is doing more in an OnUpdate than range is.

Health offline color should really be a variable not static, which is changed next push.

Disabling the OnUpdate if a unit is offline is in the same category, not really necessary. Although the events are already registered anyway so no loss in adding that into the next version.

The tag bug is probably cause it's registering it as an unit event, try opening modules/tags.lua and finding

["PLAYER_UPDATE_RESTING"] = "unitless",

Below that add

["PLAYER_TARGET_UPDATE"] = "unitless",

That should fix it.

hi! how can make raid organize exact like this on blizard raid pane? example i have 3 player in group 1, 3 player in group 2, i see instead on addon 5 player in same group and 1 at other group. this is problem for using spell groups only like prayer of healing random or makeing sure tide is same group in me etc. my option on addon pane:
-frame growth: down
-colunm growth: right
-max columns: 5
-units per columns: 5
-group by: group number
sort method: index
-sort order: ascending
-raid groups to show: 1,2,3,4,5

and option about party:
-show party as raid: check
-hide in 6 man raid: blank
-hide in any raid: check

what i change? help please!

thank you!

Hi
Nice that arena frames work now in the alpha from wow-ace :-)

I have a suggestion for an improvement regarding aura filtering. It would be awesome if you could have two position for debuffs and buffs so that you don't just remove alot of debuffs (for example those not in a whitelist) when filtering, but that you have the option of showing certain debuffs (like important ones that needs a dispel in arena), with a larger size and at a different position relative to the unitframe in question.

In this way you sort of highlight certain buffs/debuffs, while still being able to see every buff and debuff. I hope it's clear what I mean

That would be really awesome and very useful in arena - at least just as a seperate module maybe.

Shadowed: I'm sure you are right, run some profiling recently and it indeed did not show significant differences. Just been ingrained into me by Tekkub that OnUpdate -> locals, I also local the calls made by polling of unitless frames. Makes the code look a mess though so from now on I won't go out of my way with it. The tag thing worked a treat, thanks!

Loocmi: Enable party pets under options / units.

ShadowDK: Aura Tracker for SUF works fine for me, or if you prefer just set up a huge center icon and assign the auras you are interested in.

Either that or http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-a...ratracker.aspx, both provide a way to emphasize auras you find particularly important.

The problem with aura tracker is that I would then only be able to highlight one important debuff at a time. It's quite often that there are more than one that I would like to highlight..

Loocmi: Can't enable pets in raid frames, and in /suf -> Units as nailertn said.

zoleeka61: You can't.

ShadowDK: Aura system is mostly going to stay as it is, but I would take a look at the Aura Indicators module (Used to be Grid). The new version lets you make indicators that are used only on enemies and you can position them wherever you want relative to the unit frame.

nailertn: Yea, it's pretty much something that while it's an optimization, I don't like the look of having 10 functions localed in every file for such a small one.
