LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

Not sure, I know its set on my account, and a bunch of other users (I see the emails go out when addons are approved).

I was wondering if WoWInterface has a "Updater". Like ui.worldofwar.net, they have a "UI Central" updating application. I know Curse Gaming is in the development of one too.
Not at the moment, but last I heard something was being talked about

Or are you planning on making this Ace2 in the future?
Absolutely not.

Thanks!

If not I can always update manually.

When you install this addon, you need to ensure all of the following folders are in your AddOns directory:

LightHeaded: The main addon
LightHeaded_NPC_Data: Contains NPC location information
LightHeaded_A20_Data: Contains Alliance data from levels 1 - 20
LightHeaded_H20_Data: Contains Horde data from levels 1 - 20
LightHeaded_A40_Data: Contains Alliance data from levels 21 - 40
LightHeaded_H40_Data: Contains Horde data from levels 21 - 40
LightHeaded_A60_Data: Contains Alliance data from levels 41 - 60
LightHeaded_H60_Data: Contains Horde data from levels 41 - 60
LightHeaded_A80_Data: Contains Alliance data from levels 61 - 80
LightHeaded_H80_Data: Contains Horde data from levels 61 - 80
LightHeaded_deDE_Data: Contains quest mappings from deDE to enUS
LightHeaded_Quest_Data: Contains quest id > quest name lookup tables

All of the addons depend on LightHeaded, except for Lightheaded itself (of course).

Does this addon you created sync with WoWHead.com every once in awhile?
Or do you have to update it manually? Does it update every time a comment or change is made on the WoWHead website?

It would be cool to know.

Cheers!
I update the addon weekly, and users can come here to download it. If you'd like a more convenient method, you can log into wowinterface.com (making an account is absolutely free) and then navigate to this addon page. There will be a button under the Download button, that says "Add to favorites". If you click this, you will be emailed when I update the addon.

I won't be updating this Tuesday due to a code change at wowhead, I need time to adapt the parsing script.

Working perfectly.

I can see the Tab just fine.

Bayi's QuestLog is still in Beta, but it only has minor problems that don't affect how it runs.

It's also Ace2!

Thanks again,
Cralor

Here is the addon: Bayi's Extended QuestLog

Thanks!
Great let me know if it works out for you.

I've downloaded it and the only problem I have is that the tab to open up LightHeaded doesn't appear when I use the EQL3 Quest Log addon. Does this mean I have to get a different Quest Log addon?
Unfortunately, I can't code support for every quest addon under the sun. If an addon wants to support LightHeaded, they simply need to use the QuestLogFrame, and alter it to loook and operate as they'd like (This should be the preferred method either way). If the author is active, they can get in touch with me for more information.

There is a small stub stuck to the right hand side of the quest log frame, in the middle. Click that to re-expand LightHeaded. You can see this stub by viewing the screenshots above.

The only suggestion I can make is to have a screenshot of where the little UI button to hide/unhide Lightheaded is exactly.

I realyl was unable to find it, found it with luck.

I went back and read the quest log again and discovered that the coordinates were supposed to be in the Hinterlands!

There probably isn't anyway to determine which map the coordinates are supposed to be referring to but, I thought I'd mention it anyway.
Not a bug, There's no way for me to determine what zone a coordinate set should be in, unless they specify continent and zone. Problem with the coordinates in comments, not the addon. Sorry.
