YssBossLoot is a fairly simple loot addon. It is fully integrated into your world map and does a couple things.

  • It enables you to browse all instance maps that are in the game (simply select Dungeons/Raids/Battlegrounds) from the Continent dropdown and then select the Instance from the Zone dropdown.
  • It adds click able boss location icons to the instance maps.
  • There are carious skull textures to chose from in the options
  • If you have the [Ghostly Skull] pet you can also use it as a skull (fully animated)
  • The name of the Boss floats above the skull
  • You can hide all Boss Icons via the little checkbox at the bottom left of your instance map
  • When you click on a boss location its loot will popup out of the skull.
  • You can filter the loot by type/subtype, itemstats, and equip locations.
  • You can define how you want your loot filtered in the options then it will default to those filters ever time the boss loot window is shown
  • It creates a LibDataBroker plugin from which you can select an instance map without first having to open the world map
  • Adds drop location, difficulty, boss, and rate to item tooltips (can be turned off in the options off course)
  • Loot data and drop rates are mined from wowhead.com (i will update the loot database about once a week. If something is way off please create a ticket and i will fix it asap)

====== Why did i create this addon? ======
I wanted to have a simple loot addon where i could get at the loot of the dungeon I was currently in fast and easy. Also i did not design it to replace Atlas and AtlasLoot, since YBL only works with dungeons blizzard has created maps for and YBL does not have individual lookup tables for Tier loot, PVP Loot, Faction Items, Mounts, Pets, etc. all of these are way outside of the scope from YBL.

- loot window works properly again (fixed animations apperantly only the anim group accepts the stop/play commands not the animation itself)

Upon clicking the boss icons to view item drop rates and information, the items appear to have the RGB coding colors within the item text.

I will try to post a picture later.

v1.2.9 should be up as soon as it is approved all new maps for BC are added now (though not the bosses yet)

ZA and ZG are added including bosses and loot (as much as wowhead has loot for them atm)

i will slowly start adding the BC bosses to the addon but am quite busy atm

its on my todo list (am busy with real life stuff atm though) hopefully i will get to it on the weekend

the old version still works it just doesn't have loot for the new maps

its a blizzard bug (nothing i can fix)

reload your UI then use the world markers right away (they should then be usable for the rest of the session)

YssBossLoot vs World Markers...

For some reason it clashes and will not allow me to use world markers until I disable Yss. Any chance it can be compatible again?

Hey there Yssaril!

I've been using YssBossLoot since you released it here on WoWInterface. I've had no problems using it aside from one minor issue. I do use YssBossLoot's LDB plugin and I notice that the selection list ends up being extremely long; it actually goes off of my screen. I hope that you may consider shortening the length of the list while adding in a scroll bar so that no instances are hidden.

Servers are back online, so I guess there is no harm in trķing it out now.

EDIT: You can scrap the last question. Atlas loot is ~3 megs (not including the quest and loot part which are another 8Mb.). Looking at the download size of yours, it cant even come close. (yes, I know that atlas loot is load on demand, but I am still more comfortable with your 300Kb in the addon folder)

i personally run atlasloot as well for the fine faction database remember memory means nothing in wow performance wise unless you do not have enough ram (then you have other problems) or the memory is constantly rising and creating garbage.

as far as quests at least for the new dungeons blizzard put all the quest givers inside of the dungeon themselves

Manually and you will need to know how to run lua files outside of wow. and of course there is no guarantee that it will not do something it shouldn't on your system :P, or that it will always work (wowhead does change their layout from time to time which tends to break the miner)

That is fair. I'd love to replace Atlas with this considering the above. Especially the auto map select part. Which indeed is missing from atlas. Also Altas takes up a hell f a lot of memory.

The only thing holding me back is the atlas quest modules. That it can not only show the loots on bosses, but also all the quest in any said instance with the position of the objective as-well (within).

Any way I will probably give it a try. About the miner.lua. Is it run automatically or needs a manual run?

The primary reason i started it was because i am lazy and did not constantly have to select the correct map/instance in atlas(loot). The secondary reason was to see if i could do it in a way that i could update the loot data whenever i wanted to without needing to rely on other people (there is a miner.lua file in the wowace repository that simply runs and does all the work for me (takes about 90min the first run but after that only about 6-11min))

The approach is different.
Sometime ago, we had the same funcionality of YBL inside Cartographer and I must say I missed it until YBL came around.
