CameraPlus  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 3.17
by: Zax [More]

CameraPlus is dedicated to all movie makers. It is a simple but powerful WoW addOn to make accurate and smoothy WoW movies!

With CameraPlus you can switch into 'Movie mode' by selecting a binded key. When this movie mode is engaged, user defined specific WoW UI parts - like names, chat bubbles, combat texts... - can be shown or hidden and camera movements speed can be adjusted, so soft panoramic camera movements can be created at the desired speed.

- keys can be binded to continuous horizontal or vertical camera rotations
- keys can be binded to continuous zoom in and out
- adjustable rotation and zoom speed (settings UI)
- version 3 allows to increase or decrease on the fly the yaw, pitch and zoom speeds while in 'movie environment'

Furthermore, even out of the 'movie environment', CameraPlus increases the maximum camera distance from 15 to 25 yards.

Settings are available from the addons settings panel.
Open the standard shortcut panel (keybindings) and bind keys for CameraPlus.

Remember to engage the movie environment to make your changes effective.
When you leave the movie environment, settings are reset to their previous values.
If some of your settings are lost, for example target circle is no longer visible, just click on the "Reset to defaults" button in the settings UI.

To increase or decrease on the fly the yaw, pitch and zoom speeds while in movie environment, spamm the binded keys: each key up increase or decrease the desired speed by 10% or the actual value.

Warning: this addon doesn't create any video file!

For more infos, see the included ReadMe text file.

Re: View Lock

Sorry idlebyte, I don't know how to do what you are asking for.
Besides, it seems out of CameraPlus' goal.

View Lock

I've coded an application to make playing wow on a tablet much easier. Only downside is the quickest input to the tablet is the left click via finger or stylus is linked to the freecamera look. I programmed the app to watch mouse movements and feed WASDQE to wow dependent on where the mouse/stylus goes. So I can point and drag my way around wow. GOOD for a tablet. Problem is, if I don't have a non-camera-impacting object in the middle to click on, the default action of dragging the camera around kicks in and I can't disable it, so my view goes nuts panning/tilting around the world. Old add-ons don't work. Putting my characters portrait there for now has allowed me to click and move without hitting the camera drag crap, but I would like to put my portrait back. Can you institute a camera lock feature? To prevent the camera from moving regardless of where the left click is going or its clicked status. I ask here since this is the most active camera related add-on. Or a camera dragging dead zone option to ignore left clicks in the center around the tune. I'm playing on an Asus EP121 tablet so wow and windows are running on the tablet, LOVE IT. TIA!

In fact, it seems to be only 2

/console CameraDistanceMaxFactor 2

If you feel like returning to Earth, or encounter difficulties with your zooming spaceship, the following commands may be of use:

/console CameraDistanceMax 15
/console CameraDistanceMaxFactor 1

Just type them into chat and you'll be all set!

Quick Question

This is a great addon, but I really only use it for the camera distance zoom; I got tired of having to use a macro every time I wanted to set the camera to its max distance. Does anyone know of an addon that JUST sets the camera to the max distance?

DJJoeJoe, the internal WoW variable is cameraDistanceMoveSpeed, you can modify its value with
SetCVar("cameraDistanceMoveSpeed",yourValue)

In CameraPlus, this user's value is saved in SCAMsaved["zoomSpeed"]

In game you can change this value with CameraPlus UI or with the folllowing slash-command:

/camsetzoom integer
with integer from 1 to 50

Hope this helps.
I'm currently not using CameraPlus intensively, so in my test I didn't encounter this bug.

Sometimes, oddly, some settings get mixed up using your addon here and basically it makes my mouse zoom speed permanently the slowest it can be set to, outside the film mode. This is more then a bit frustrating, as I must wait a few minutes to scroll in and out...

This has happened before and uninstalling or defaults settings here and there does nothing. It tends to happen when I go in and out of film mode, but not always and I can't reproduce this.

What is the name of the setting in the config file that this corresponds to, so i can set it manually.

New feature - UIParent2 idea

Hey Zax,

Whole your addon idea came to my mind a few days ago, but with another great idea which you can read here:
http://www.wowace.com/forums/index.php?topic=14183.0 , the UIParent2 part
I believe movie makers would be grateful if that could be integrated in the addon.

I've been using this nice mod for the past few days. Is it possible to change rotation and zoom speeds with a script or macro?

Good job!

Edit: Of course there is! All I had to do was read /cameraplushelp Thanks. *blush*

There's one feature I'm looking for that I really hoped this mod would have, but it doesn't. It's to be able to change the height of the camera focus. The default camera in WoW focuses on the middle of your character. I'd like to change this so that it focuses a bit above your character. This is because the bottom half of my screen is usually only covered with terrain, while I sometimes have issues with the top half of the screen to see what I want in the horizon. Do you think you could add such a feature?
