Livestock  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 3.4.1
by: Kharthus [More]

Livestock: For all your companion needs

Now that your pets and mounts don't take up space in your bags, Livestock lets you manage them intelligently. This addon sorts your companions into land mounts, flying mounts, and vanity pets. Then, with the push of a button, you can randomly summon any of the three, or designate a favorite pet to have out on command.

You can also have Livestock always keep a pet by your side, and have it dismiss your vanity pet when you are in PVP battle and it would give away your position.

You can even tell Livestock to put you on a random land or flying mount depending on whether the area you're in lets you fly or not. Underwater or in combat, Livestock can also be configured to cast certain spells relating to travel, such as Path of Frost or Ghost Wolf.

New to version 1.2 and above, you can designate certain pets or mounts to be called in certain zones or subzones. Ride in style on a Frostwolf Howler while in Alterac Valley, and then switch to your favorite color of Mechanostrider while in Ironforge. Livestock will let you make sure that you have your good luck pet out whenever you're in Ulduar or Trial of the Crusader.
You can summon critters, land mounts, and flying mounts in various ways. See the ReadMe file for more information.
Localization Help:
Livestock currently only works for the enUS, deDE, eES, ruRU, and frFR clients. (The client is only localized completely for the enUS client, and assistance in localizing is always appreciated!) If you are on another client, Livestock will load but will show all English strings. If you are willing to help localize the addon for your language, please let me know - you'd only need to provide some simple translations and I'd do the rest. You can reach me through the Private Message system available here.
Slash Commands:
There are currently eight slash commands for the addon. View the ReadMe file for a more in-depth explanation. /livestock and /ls both work for commands.
  • Use "/livestock" to bring up the main menu bar.
  • Use "/livestock reset" to move the four Livestock Buttons back to their default positions.
  • Use "/livestock scale <scale>" to change the size of the Livestock Buttons.
  • Use "/livestock prefs" as a shortcut to access the preferences, described in the ReadMe.
  • Use "/livestock redo" to force Livestock to reset to default. Useful for squashing buggy behavior at the cost of having to reset your settings.
  • Use "/livestock [zone/subzone/party]" to designate a pet or mount for your current zone, subzone or party. For more information, check the ReadMe.
  • Use "/livestock [mount/nomount/pet/nopet]" to add/remove pets and mounts from the random summon list. Uses your active summon.
  • Use "/livestock debug" - Prints out useful debugging information that can assist the developers in solving problems. Use the command again to turn off the debugging output.

Livestock Options and Preferences:
You can find the options for Livestock in the Addons tab of the Blizzard Interface options menu. The "Livestock" tab has the major options, while options for pets, Smart Mounting, and zone/subzone preferences are in sub-menus. You can read more about the preferences in the ReadMe file.
Bug Reports and Feature Requests
If you find unexpected behavior in Livestock, especially in locales other than enUS, please check the FAQ first to see if it has been addressed and if there is a possible fix.
Please report any bugs you find with Livestock -- or feature requests you'd like to see -- using the "Report Bugs" or "Feature Request" button underneath the Download button, up and to the right. I appreciate your feedback and support.
If you are reporting a bug, the following information is helpful: Any error messages that you saw, where you were (if you can give coordinates, that's excellent), what you were trying to do, what your menus looked like, and what class you play.
Thanks!
Well-deserved credit goes to the following people:
  • Khanthal (Uldum), for the original idea and being our MT so often!
  • A BIG thank you to Sbo (UI and Macros forum, Live) who helped me figure out what was the issue with Dalaran and Wintergrasp as well as suggesting the way to get around it.
  • Grimgear (UI and Macros forum, Live) for helping troubleshoot a bug, pointing me to keybindings, and suggesting rotation speed. Also for pointing out how best to adjust my GUI to compensate for localization.
  • Lunessa (UI and Macros forum, Live) for pointing me to Blizzard's instructions on creating panels in the Interface menu.
  • Xelron (UI and Macros forum, Live) for helping construct debug messages to get more information and indirectly convincing me to make my own dropdowns.
  • Ro (UI and Macros forum, Beta) for the 3D model viewer idea. Ro also originally suggested making my own custom dropdowns, which I thought was beyond me!
  • Elloria and Tgulics (WoWInterface) for helping spread the word and test the addon in its early stages and for suggesting highlighting the buttons when they're clicked.
  • The MVPs (UI and Macros forum) for providing the resources needed to accomplish this one as well as stepping in and answering my questions from time to time. Special thanks to Alestane and Iriel for helping me with secure handlers.
  • kdkunde (WoWInterface) for helping translate this mod into German so far!
  • Vastilia (WoWInterface) and Yorgl (Curse) for helping translate into French!
  • madbit (WoWInterface) for the Spanish translation.
  • simply (Curse) for the Russian localization.
  • Certainly not least, Brenkite (Uldum) for being my personal troubleshooter and moral support.

Hey quick question for ya.

I have enabled the option to automatically summon a pet if i dont have one out and i move.

However if you turn your character while casting evocation it cancels evocation and summons the pet. Anyway you could have it disabled while casting, or channeling?

that seriously is the only problem ive seen. I freaking love this mod.

also im sorry if you already answered my question but did you ever see my comment on summoning a certain type of mount if your in a certain faction's city?

tb - kodo, uc - horse, org- dog or raptor etc.

<3

ps: im loving the little messages you put on the rotation bar. You cracked me up!

Thanks for the encouragement, Dridzt, and the bug report - it would do that now that I see how I defined the flag.

I'll fix it and upload a fixed version later today, I was tweaking so many things and uploading several v1.0.7s that I want to give the file admins a break from approving the uploads

Edit: Actually, oooh, I see what the problem is - it'll overwrite even for people who aren't new users. That's serious enough to put out now.

I noticed that on my alt that does not have any vanity pets, I kept getting spammed to open Livestock to build the pet list and despite doing this several times and reloading the interface (just to be sure) the spam continued. Probably most everyone that is using this mod has vanity pets (as I do on my main, 47/50 Pet Smart... sooooo close!), and they would not have noticed this. To duplicate the issue, just make a new toon and see what happens.

Thanks again for a simple, yet satisfying mod!
NavyFC, sorry it's taken so long to get back to your comment. I wrote it down and then responded to a slew of other comments and missed yours in the rush.

You should see this fixed in v1.0.7.

Thanks for the work.
Pushy users = better authors, to be truthful

AHHHH I finally find out what LDB stands for. This is good.

I'm hampered a bit by not being on my usual computer, and on a borrowed one that the owner has asked that I respectfully keep downloads to a minimum - especially in WoW, where he has to de-select mods that I downloaded most of the time. (I've since changed the mods to be default disabled so they don't bug him when he logs in!) When he saw I got the WoW Programming book, he sighed and said "Just don't mess up the computer too much." However, I can definitely take a look at LDB and see how Fubar actually works instead of just seeing screenshots and such.

Currently we can only exclude non-epic mounts from the Random Mount feature, but would it be possible to 'remove' certain mounts from ever being summoned (unless done manually thru Blizz UI)? If I have 20 epic mounts, but I only bought Mount X for the Achievement, and really hate it anyway, I don't really want to use it.

This could also be solved thru a favorites system where you have a Fav. List and an All list, accessible via different buttons/macros/keybinds.

Don't know how hard this would be to implement, but would be cool to see
Movarrin responded already just a short time ago, but I am also puzzled - you don't have to see any mounts you don't want to. Just type /livestock and you will get access to the menus with your pets and mounts. Deselect the ones you don't want to see ever with your random summon, and you'll never see them.

And maybe a keybind for a favorite pet that you can pull out instantly without sorting through the rest.
Bouvi, the "favorites" is a really good idea that was brought up a while back when Livestock was new and shiny (and didn't have as much functionality!) The only thing that's really been stopping me from putting this is in-game is a way to figure out how / where to display the percentages. I'm pretty happy with the menu system -- probably because I built it entirely myself! -- but it limits what I can do with the interface on-screen. And every time I try to put it in the Interface Options with the rest of the options, it doesn't work right (there are some constraints onto what can go in there and how - not big ones, but enough to make me sigh).

So this is still on the to-do list for now - I'd have it in the "What's planned next" FAQ but I don't know how long it might take me to get it to happen.

As far as a keybind for your favorite pet - I will look into that

It sounds like an easier alternative (for now) would be to have your suggestion of a suboption for doing so only in battlegrounds / arenas. Maybe if your PVP flag was up? I'll poke around and take a look at Fubar, but chances are good that I won't be able to figure out how to make it work

Unless I misunderstand your question, this is already in Livestock.

type /livestock ingame and the menu comes up. Under Land select none. All of the mount names listed should darken. Then specifically click the ones you like and their names should become white again. Repeat this procedure under flying. Then only those mounts, regardless of "include non-epic" choice, should ever popup when you hit your button/macro.

In other words, you can have 50 epic flying mounts and hate all but one. And with just a few keystrokes make it so that only that one is ever chosen.

Capice?

I hope I answered your question.

edit:
I understand the check box for automatically dismissing a pet when stealthing. In PVP a little "kill me" flag following you around is pretty silly. However, I play on a PVE server. This means that unless I'm in a BG, 99.9 % of the made-up statistical time, I'm not PVPing and don't want to have my pet dismissed.

Any chance you can make a in BG's only Sub command for the autodismiss? Or with FuBar integration, give us easier access to the preferences menu.

Still, this is one of my favorite addons and I've been recommending it like crazy to my friends. They asked me how much you were paying me. LOL

edit2: I'm slow. I copied this to the submit feature area.
