GathererDB WoWHead  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.0.2013-06-15
by: Esamynn, dinesh, MentalPower, Nechckn, Norganna, norganna_uploader

WoWInterface is happy to announce that we have teamed up with Wowhead and the Norganna's AddOns Gatherer team to provide you with an exclusive downloadable Wowhead database for display in-game by Gatherer.

This addon will provide you with all the information currently in the Wowhead database showing all known locations of herbs, minerals and treasures. Now you can simply load up Gatherer, plug this database into it, and know what can be found in the zone you are in, without having to discover them yourself.

Wowhead will be providing regular dumps of their database to the Norganna team, who will then update the GathererDB Wowhead addon exclusively here on WoWInterface.

How it works
The import procedure is simple and painless. Once you have installed the AddOn and have reloaded the game, ensuring that both Gatherer and GathererDB_Wowhead are activated. When you finally log into the game, follow this procedure to import the new data into Gatherer:

  • Open Gatherer's configuration dialog.
  • Click on the red "Database" tab on the left-hand side of the dialog.
  • Click the import button in the main panel.

Make sure to add GathererDB-Wowhead to your favourites list here on WoWInterface and check back periodically to see if it's been updated, or get an email sent to you whenever they update it if you have those notifications turned on. Any time they update it, just re-download GathererDB-Wowhead and update your local copy.

Help improve the database
If you want to contribute your data back to Wowhead to continue expanding the database, please download and install the Wowhead client (available for both PC and Mac) and just follow the instructions on their site.

About Gatherer
Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.

The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining, or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on the minimap.

When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations clearly marked on each zone's map.

About Wowhead
Wowhead was created with one sole intent: to provide World of Warcraft players with an extensive database and tools to enhance their gaming experience. This website is our contribution to this wonderful game.

Our user community is a big part, if not the biggest part, of Wowhead. Almost all of our information comes from our users, through data uploads from the Wowhead Client, comments on database entries and screenshot submissions! The site also features forums, where users can ask questions, discuss important Warcraft-related topics, recommend and share favorite addons, and much more!

Sorry folks, real life comes in way before anything having to do with our AddOns. It will be out when it is ready.

Happy Gatherering,

I use the one from Lloyd site below and augment with guildie's additions. This wowhead data cull thing is a fail so far.

I did same thing today and even some more things but still get 90% bug which produce ,at least for me,nodes in "old" game but not Cata zones

Thumbs up Works for me

It works for me, but I deleted all old data before updating with this database.
I lost a lot of nodes, but also the changed zones display the right nodes now.
And that's more important to me. I just wait for updates here.

So, no import problems. Maybe it's an memory issue.
The old database plus the new one together is a huge pile of memory using data.
Just brainstorming...

i tried everything it seems..

i just found this addon today, and it worked great for the most part but then i had to move on to new ores, and i went to mine saronite, and the database has no nodes listed anywhere, i have updated it, reinstalled it, and have both the slide bar and the hud active when i try to import them but the nodes still don't show up, and after my most recent troubleshooting ideas now it gets to 90% importing and stops. please help!!!

Simply replace the one in the GathererDB_WoWHead addon with this one. Then load up go to Gatherer settings and click the Import button under Database.

I am still unable to reproduce the 90% stall issue, all I can suggest is that you make sure that your Gatherer is up to date using the latest version. When I test my database I always start with a clean blank installation of Gatherer and then import from scratch.

If you still are getting the 90% stall on a clean installation of Gatherer (meaning, you've deleted all the Gatherer files in the WTF folder). Try disabling all other adds and only leaving Gatherer and GathererDBWoWhead enabled. It might be another addon interfering, I just don't know right now.

Can't import; button unresponsive?

Hey all, I recently re-installed Gatherer specifically so I could import the Wowhead database for Cataclysm herb nodes. I learned that to do that, I needed the third-party database linked in a few posts below (the one at that author's Git Hub).

Anyway, followed the advice in these comments and I just imported the database .lua file, but when I open Gatherer in WoW and go to the "Plugins" menu and hit the "Import" button, nothing happens. Literally nothing; no progress bar, not any indication that anything happened at all.

I can confirm that the database must not be loaded because the only nodes I'm seeing on the map or minimap are the ones I've already picked myself. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong, or what would cause the "Import" button to stall and do nothing?

Thanks...

Smspencer,

The db only contains the locations where nodes are able to spawn, not where they are active at a given time. The basic idea is that the db provides a sort of pathway that you can check and then the "tracking" comes in and shows those nodes that are active.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

I only asked since you stated few days ago "The new version is just about street-worthy and should be out in a few days" and by my account few days is right about now.
