Known Issues/Bugs
I cannot possibly know all of the bugs that might crop up, and will rely on others reporting bugs to me. For a bug to be listed, I have to be able to confirm it, or receive such evidence that even though I can't reproduce it, I believe it exists.

Current Features
These are the current features in Power Bars. If one of these features isn't working, then there's possibly a bug you need to report. Please see "Known Issues" before reporting a bug however.

* Essentially, I don't care if you use parts of this AddOn or all of it. It's free to use and redistribute, and the images are part of that deal. All I want in return is a bit of credit for the work that I do, just as I credit others for the help that they give. A simple link back to this page (if applicable) and a reference to the user Chamenas (or Lulia) is all that is needed. As long as you aren't claiming the work is your own, I'm not terribly bothered.

FAQ

What Is Power Bars?
Power Bars will be a Power & Resource display AddOn. Its purpose will be to offer customizable displays for all Power and Resource systems in the game, this includes (but isn't necessarily limited to): Mana, Rage, Energy, Runic Power, Focus, Eclipse, Holy Power, and Soul Shards.

The frames for these resource systems will be movable, will be offered with various display options "right out of the box" and offer the user the ability to customize them with their own personal images and colors if they so wish.

Why Power Bars?
I'm aware that there are already similar AddOns out there. So you might be asking yourself "Why re-invent the wheel"?. Well, for starters, this is my VERY FIRST AddOn. I've NEVER made one before. Now, I have some experience scripting and coding, but no experience with the WoW API and my Scripting/Coding skills are novice at best. Thus, I have a LOT to learn.

I wanted an AddOn that I could use to personally customize for Holy Power and Soul Shards, since I didn't see any single AddOn out there that did it in such a way as I would have liked. Power Auras did pretty well, but I wanted something a bit better, and something a bit easier to adjust.

However, like most things in life, I really like to share what I make with the world. I didn't want to make a small AddOn that only I would use. I figured: if I'm going to learn how to make AddOns, then I'm going to make AddOns I can share with the community. Thus the origins of Power Bars. The intention of this AddOn is to be an intuitive and easy Power & Resource display management system, offering the user total control and power over how they see their resource and power bars.

Version 0.52 (BETA)

Surprised to see it updated!
I love this addon's concise and beautiful, hope can update continued.
I don't like dot or box, looks very boring, When WOW go to 4.0 last year, I've found a addon just like Power Bars for a long time--finally found this.
Although compared to KAholypower use more memory, I still use this.
Thank you.

That's an odd issue, I'll try to do some testing with it to see if I can isolate it. I'm still not actively doing anything major with it (update was literally just changing version number) but I'll do my best to fix bugs that are plaguing people.

I could add an alternative option though, so you could use the more CPU intensive one to get smoother updates or, if you're worried about CPU usage you can use the "chunkier" one."

My WoW account is active again. That doesn't necessarily mean I'll jump right back into this, but there's a decent chance of it. I'd really like to find an experienced AddOn author to take a look at my AddOn though and help show me how I can make the code and such more efficient and readable. We'll see

Until then I can't really justify spending the money, even to work on an AddOn. If another author wants to pick it up, they can speak to me and we can work something out, but I warn you, my code is pretty messy (hence the 1.0 stuff).
Well then, best of luck and here's to hoping we can hear from you soon.

Re: suggestion

Try to use the bug report feature if you can, next time! It saves space and stuff, and makes it easier to track.

You'll note that I plan on allowing for custom textures to be added to the power bars in the next version (reading the next version notes is a good habit to have!).

As far as a "general placement" layout, that's not likely to happen any time soon, if at all, since it requires trying to assume various things with different frames. Now, if you mean you're looking for profiles to use across same-class characters, that MIGHT be an option. I'm using AceDB right now in the next version, which makes setting up profile usage a bit easier, but I need to restrict profiles by class if I'm going to allow you to copy settings, due to various class-specific settings being a part of the saved variables I use.

That was really a long-winded answer, but hopefully there was a "yes" in the big resounding "no" there.

Also, look for a post tomorrow on my Author's Portal to explain how the updates to the next version are coming along. If I can find a solution to your bug quickly then I will post a quick "fixed" version of the current version, but will then return to working on 1.0

As I really like this addon and I play multiple toons that it's helpful for, it would be great to save a general placement that works and is saved across all toons (even new ones).

Having to move and resize everything for each toon gets to be a lot of setup. Also, it would be nice to change the skin of the power bar, for now I have it turned off.

Thanks and keep up the good work,

unwin

PS. I am getting an error on my druid when I try to set OOC opacity on the balance bar. I want it to be gone when I am OOC.
