Ara Broker Reputations  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: r41
by: altelulex, Aranarth, vikingking

Version R37 and later has been tested with Classic, BfA Retail, and the Shadowlands Beta.
You only need R37 or later for all your reputation needs.

This data broker plugin keeps track of your watched faction and displays a Blizzard-like faction list: colored bars in tree view mode that show standing (ie: Honored) and switch to raw numbers (ie: 2400/12000) when mouse hovered. You can access the config menu by right-clicking the block.

It does pretty much what Broker Factions does with the following additions:
- Can represent the watched faction with an ASCII bar.
- Can sort by reputation level (thx to Neorgia)
- Can watch hidden factions.
- Colors are editable.

It has been designed with efficiency in mind: fast and lightweight, yet feature full.

Click a header (white entry) to expand or collapse.
Click a faction to "watch" it. (Alliance Vaguard and Horde Expedition are special cases and require a shift+click to be watched.)
Middle-Click a faction to move it to actives/inactives.
Right-Click a faction to copy its info in chatbox.

Collapsed headers are saved across session (with the exception of inactive factions that are automatically collapsed by Blizzard at login).

This plugin supports AddonLoader (delayed loading), Skinner and SharedMedia (limited).

Sometimes I find the need to go duo places like MC on my new character to farm rep. It would be nice to able to inform my partner about my current standing with a click but not necessary. I guess what I am trying to say, please consider it if the implementation doesn't make you scratch your head and falls within the scope of your lightweight mod
Is the following format ok ?

If you can only provide a few textures, how about somewhere clear in the lua that users can add their own textures later if the textures that are included don't suit their UI?
I can't really have a scrolling drop down box because it implies to create tons of controls and that would take too much memory and boring code: sofisticated config are huge; for exemple Dewdrop is 5x the size of this plugin. I try to put all options in a menu because it's lightweight.

To edit the list of textures allowed, you just have to search for the "local textures" line and add/remove what you want.

planning on implementing an auto switch feature, on rep gains? I'm also missing the rep gained feature being visible on the display bar. Not a huge deal, but it was nice (for me).

Slowly moving all addons to Ara's versions.
I don't see what you describe as "the rep gained feature visible on the display bar". Session gain written on the block ?

Anyway I will see what I can do for the auto switch feature. Im afraid there will be some limitations like: can only switch to a not hidden (collapsed/inactive) faction.

Yeah, I guess that would be the correct way of saying it. It shows up in the tooltip, but I like to be able to see it live and in motion. :P

Those limitations sound more than fine. (Who wants to monitor an inactive faction anways)

How should it look like ? "erned 250", "250 gained", "gained 250", plain "250", something else ? In default color if standing is shown and in standing color if standing is hidden ?

I'd think "Session +250" would be the way to go, given that's how it shows up in the tool tip Keeps things consistent.

Just tried to change the default bar colours for the plugin, and was greeted with this error:

<string>:"ColorPickerOkayButton:OnClick":2: attempt to call field 'func' (a nil value)

Using Dockingstation as a display if that helps any

Unfortunatly I can't replicate this issue as it's working great for me.
Is it happening every time you try to change a color ?

right click the broker plug, select the blizzard colour, brings up the choser, select colour and hit ok .... error pops up :/

Altho, one thing i did notice, is that colours for friendly+ are all the same green shade. Neutral and hostile etc are yellow/red as you would expect o0

Re-download this plugin. If the error persist, disable all addons except your display and this plugin to see if there's a conflict with another addon.

EDIT: please try BugSack, it helps alot to have the full error message

If you left click the plugin to access Blizzard's faction panel, you will see that every friendly+ faction is green. ^^

I've noticed in the session earned column, "spill-over" rep isn't showing up.
For example, I use the Silvermoon Commendation Badge, and the 250 rep is tracked for Silvermoon, but the 62-63 rep I earn with the other Horde cities doesn't get tracked?

Session gains are tracked via reputation increase/decrease messages the system sends. And unfortunatly these messages don't include reputation gained with other cities.

I will see if there's an efficient workaround, like storing initial reputation values to compare with current values. But there's 2 major flaws: at the moment you look at the faction list, you may already have gained some reputation, so the initial values will be biased; and secondly, I can't get values from hidden factions.

A working solution implies to run a timer at login that wait for reputation data to be available, and when it's ready, expand all headers and get those values. But it's not elegant, requires CPU at a crucial time (login), and too much code for a small issue.

Fair enough. I had been used to seeing the spill-over rep tracked via Broker_Factions, so when I was trying out this mod and not seeing the rep tracked similarly after the patch, I had actually worried something changed. Had to manually record my totals for the other sities and then compare after a turn-in to verify it still was getting the rep.
