LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

But when I download that it's still called "LightHeaded-v50100-2012-10-10.zip, even though it says you updated it 11/28. Did you just forget to rename it?
Thanks for the awesome addon btw

No, the date is the parse date. It was updated as a TOC update. The parse is broken again because wowhead changed their markup. I'm working on that =)

Yeah I"m going to have to re-download, because I'm seeing alot of the Dom. Offensive quest not having comments, but the actual Wowhead site has quite a few comment.

Re-downloading won't fix that

I've had a bit of a set-back with parsing. I'm doing what I can to fix it, but cannot commit an incredible amount of time to it at the moment.

A good idea... ? :)

Hi, love your addon Cladhaire!! Guess if you add achievements titles from wowhead in your search database the addon would be downloaded by millions of users. Then it would be an absolute "must have" addon for all wowplayes imo Guess you can make big money out of this too on adds etc. Strike me that there are just sucky achievment addons available atm... strange really..?

I can be found ingame on my mage called Lisbett on Frostwhisper server (alliance) if you are interested in exchanging some thoughts on this

I'm certain lots of people would love that, but that is an enormous amount of effort for very little gain.

I don't make any money on LightHeaded. There are no ads, so I'm not sure what you mean.

They're hard, and there's lots to do.

Lightheaded not displaying chosen quest

I'm not sure when it started, but the behavior of lightheaded seems to have changed recently. It used to be that if I clicked on the name of a quest as displayed in the objectives on my screen (and i don't *think* I have anything changing that display), a 1-... 'page' pane would open up, showing the text from the quest I clicked on, and the lightheaded added pane would be set to that quest also. Currently, when I click on a name in the objectives, the lightheaded pane will show for that quest and then switch to (what I think is) the oldest quest in my log. When I use L to open the log, that is also the quest it defaults to showing. I do *not* have that quest tracked; the only quests I'm currently tracking are the ones in my current zone. It's somewhat of an irritant to force lightheaded to show the correct quest - the one that's displaying when I click the objective's display entry. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

(it might not necessarily be the oldest quest - i just had it point at a different quest than the oldest.)

Pretty easy to test:
  • Disable all other addons
  • Enable LightHeaded and all its sub-addons
  • Test

You should find that it works as expected. If not, report back to me. If it does, then you'll need to figure out which addon is making changes to the quest log or querying the API in a way that causes this to happen.

I'm not ruling out an issue, but there have been no code changes to LightHeaded in several months.

First of all I would like to say how much I love this addon and how great I think it is.
Is there any ETA of when there will be an update so we can see comments on quests? Lots of quests don't have any comments with them and when you check Wowhead there are loads...

As soon as I can get the parsing script running against the latest version of wowhead, factoring the time I have to spend doing that =)

If you see data that you need and that is missing, feel free to ping me. Regular updates are too much of a pain in the ass at this stage given how little things *can* change, that I really need an external bump to push things along =)
