Rosoaa's UI  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v3.1
by: Rosoaa [More]

UI Goal:

  • This UI is meant to be extremely informational while being presented in a logical way. Your eyes need to be focused on the center of your screen and not in the top left corner or any corner for that matter. Therefore, that is where I place the more important UI elements.
  • Organization and symmetry of UI elements are very important to a quality UI as well. Having the correct balance of these are what I strive for.
  • The user should have the freedom over the UI elements. It shouldn't be up to the creator where things must be placed or what things must be hidden/shown. There needs to be a level flexibility between the creator and user.
  • The UI should look and perform at the appropriate level. Certain UI elements shouldn't look too nice. Otherwise, there will be unnecessary distractions or things will stand out too much that shouldn't, but on the other hand things shouldn't look like they are not emphasized enough.
  • This UI is meant for all classes, roles, and play-styles.
  • v3.1 is meant for widescreen monitors with an aspect ratio of 8:5 or 16:10. This means that my UI will look its best on 1200x800, 1440x900, 1680x1050, and 1920x1200 monitor resolutions. If your monitor is not one of these resolutions you may need to move some things around. The goal is to eventually have a version suitable for all resolutions.

Installation Guide:
(You must follow theses steps for this UI to look and function the way I have it setup)

  1. Rename or delete your Interface, WTF, and Fonts folders (for a fresh installation or in case you want your old UI back).
  2. Drag or copy the Fonts, Interface, and WTF folders into your World of Warcraft folder.
  3. Open your WTF folder and rename the following folders in your WTF folder "YOUR ACCOUNT NAME", "YOUR SERVER NAME", and "YOUR CHARACTER NAME" to your actual account name, server name, and character name (make sure your account name is in all caps).
  4. Make sure all addons are on. And the load out of date box is checked.
  5. Login to WoW. You should now see the prompt to load Rosoaa UI settings. Select Yes. Your UI will reload.
  6. Go to the video options. Select the resolution and video settings that fits your computer. Also select your preferred sound settings. I suggest taking a look at the addon TweakWoW for addition video/UI settings.
  7. Setup your keybinds/macros. You can skip this setup if you saved your old UI. Go into your old UI's WTF folder and copy and paste your macro-cache files and your bindings-cache files into your new WTF file.

Addons v3.1:
This is not a list of mods contained in the UI (if you're looking for that download the UI and see for yourself), but a more in depth explanation of specific addons that many users probably have never used, so the user can have a better experience.

  • Many UI tasks are automated or have shortcuts through two addons called wIn1 and !OverSimplified. See their addon pages for a better understanding and configuration. There is a list of UI slash commands below.
  • Buffet: The addon Buffet creates two macros that can be accessed in the blizzard macro frame (/macro). One is for health consumables and the other is for mana consumables. Buffet will change the macros as needed to provide you with food and drink out of combat, potions and stones in combat, and bandages on shift (HP macro only, of course).
  • StealYourCarbon: This addon is a reagent restocker addon. When you visit a vendor who sells an item you have told SYC to buy, it buys it for you. Never run out of water again! See the interface options for configuration of your pleasing.
  • Professions Database / Ludwig: These 2 addons attempt to make minimizing WoW a minimum. Ludwig is an in game database of every item in the game. Type /ludwig to see the huge list. Professions Database gives the user access to every profession, so you always know what craft-able item requires which materials. To access Professions Database go to the professions tab and click on the red panel in the lower right hand corner.

I don't believe this is a fault of my resolution, but with reflux's saving, perhaps. Try it and see if it helps
Thanks for the feedback. I think reflux has a problem with certain addons. I'm gonna play around with that a bit more. If you have to change any other profiles for any other addons, let me know.
KGpanels can be a real pain. I had a lot of trouble getting it to do what I needed it to to do. Reflux is definitely a bit of a primadonna with what it wants to do. Looking back on it, I think those were the only profile problems I had. I had to tweak Stuf a bit but that is because of the resolution, and no problem with the pack. I also use Vuhdo for healing so I disabled ouf.

Other than the problems, I find your pack very cool in terms of tweaks and polish. I have addons I keep around all the time throughout my compilations, but yours enabled me to not to have to add so many back. Do you have Bartender set up to use the extra action button in Dragonsoul raids? I haven't raided in a while so it may not be an issue, but I downloaded a mod to handle that JIC.
I'm glad you mentioned the extra action button because I use a macro to handle those abilities and I know for a fact most of the raiding population doesn't. What addon do you use to handle that? Also, which addons are you adding back? Maybe I'll add them in myself. Again, I appreciate the feedback.
You use shared media, but I had to disable it, as it was putting texture to my vuhdo that I didn't want. It didn't seem to impact much, so for now I've had to deal with it. I'm not a coder at all, lol so I just do what I can with my limited skills.

The addons I add back:
CoolLine (I really like seeing my cooldowns this way.)
Gatherer
GTFO (Helps me not stand in shit)
OPie (Rings of awesomeness that you can hotkey)
RSA (Raeli's Spell Announcer. Useful)
Reforgerade (Can copy and paste reforging information from Ask Mr. Robot into it and it will reforge your items enmasse)
ShockandAwe (for my shaman only. Helps with my rotation and keeping track of things)
Vuhdo (Healing addon. My favorite)
WeakAuras (Great visual aura mod, like power auras but better. The nice thing about it is that you can set up everything globally, and just tell it when to enable auras, instead of copying and pasting auras you like per character like in power auras)

Can you tell me the steps you went through in your own words to install my UI? If someone has a problem installing my UI, I'd really like to know why. Please describe in as much detail as possible. Did anyone go through any extra work that wasn't listed in the Installation Guide to make my UI look exact?

What else is not the same other than the action bars and buttons?
well, i downloaded you UI, i deleated my WTF and Interface folder from my wow folder, then i went into the new ones (not in the OS_mac thingu) in your folder and changed all the things in the WTF folder and putted my macro file in there aswell, then i went into the game, clicking enable all addons and load out-dated addons on the character login screen, when i came into the game i clicked the install pop-up and yea, that was it? didnt check for much more which problems then with the actionbars and their buttons since i wouldnt play with it anyways without that working, i also tried messing around with all the addon profile to see if something didnt load when i saw the problem, but nope didnīt work either!
Did you rename the files in the WTF folder correctly?
Yes, i am very sure that i did, checked it multiple times.

hey i recently downloaded you UI, i really liked the look off it, but when i started the game with it and installed it just as you said in the info, it looked really weird, actionbars looked nothing like on the pics and there weren't any facade on the buttons, do you know why this happend? would be really nice if you could tell me what you think so i might be able to use your awesome UI
(i have tried re-installing multiply times so don't suggest that)
Can you tell me the steps you went through in your own words to install my UI? If someone has a problem installing my UI, I'd really like to know why. Please describe in as much detail as possible. Did anyone go through any extra work that wasn't listed in the Installation Guide to make my UI look exact?

What else is not the same other than the action bars and buttons?

Looking into this, but the automatic quest tracking can be turned on in the blizzard interface options.
