Alternate Blips Fan Update for 2.3

Version: 1.1-2.3.2
by: Dragaus [More]

This is an update for Gello's Alternate Blips, that I just love to death, but they changed the textures for 2.3 and his mod was broken. This is a simple tga change to make it compatiable with World of Warcraft 2.3

Fixed to work with 2.3.2 version of the live client.

Thanks Dragaus for keeping this alive! I noticed the old one disappeared in the database crash some time ago so you're welcome to take its name and complete ownership of the mod if you want.

Editting the objects.tga file

I use Paint Shop Pro to edit things so I figured I'd give a quick tutorial on how to do that:

Open the objects.tga file in Paint Shop
Go to View then Click on Grid
Go to View again then Change Grid and Guide Properties
Change the Horizontal and Vertical settings to 32
If the line color is black, change that to something you'll be able to see on the black background of the .tga
Click OK

Now each of your icons fits neatly into the grid.

Get the selection tool and select the bottom icons and shift them over one box, those are now in the correct place
Select the tracking icon at the end of the top row and center it in the first square on the bottom row. That is now in the correct place.
Select the entire top row and shift that over one square. Those are now in the correct place.
Create a new icon in the now empty first box.

Save the file and log into the game to check out your work.

Hope that helps!

ok, Blizz added a dot for the raid...seems to be they put it before the current blue(party/raid/pet) dot and moved all the other dots over one...so you'll need to edit the image again to include it...they moved the yellow(ore/herbs/general tracking icon) dot to the first spot in the bottom row and moved the quest icons all over one spot...so the image size remains the same...

I'd post an updated image but I changed all the colors and most people probly wouldnt like my colors...lol...plus I have no idea how to do that anyway...

I love it too...

Just for those who wish to edit the ObjectIcons.tga...

Original Alternate Blips had the dots in the following color order...yellow(ore/herb), red(track beast, etc..), green(unused), blue(quest), light blue(party members)...the order of the icons in this update seems to be...blue(party/raid/pet), red(player-hostile), yellow(player-neutral), green(player-friendly), red(NPC-hostile), yellow(NPC-neutral), green(NPC-friendly), yellow(ore/herbs/general tracking icon for the repair guy and the reagent vendor and things like that)

edit: by the way, THANKS for the update...
