Soulbound360 - xbox 360 controller addon (cataclysm)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 0.6b
by: Sinkissed [More]

Soulbound360 is a World of Warcraft addon for playing WoW with your Xbox360 controller. The addon itself is text files however USING THE CONTROLLER WITH WOW REQUIRES ANOTHER PROGRAM.

In action vs lich king

Setup

The addon requires:

* An Xbox360 Wired controller, or an Xbox 360 Wireless controller with PC receiver.
* Microsoft Xbox360 Accessories software installed.

1 Install the addon into your Interface/AddOns directory as usual.

2 Download GLOVEPIE / mirror and open the S360.PIE file inside of the Interface/AddOns/Soulbound360 directory.

3 Click RUN in GLOVEPIE and start World of Warcraft

If you would like to use your chatpad with the game, there is now a windows driver for it

GLOVEPIE is Windows only. The addon and the instructions sent to GLOVEPIE are all completely visible inside of the Interface/Addons folder. This is in compliance with Blizzard's AddOn policy. Controls have 1-to-1 functionality, THERE ARE NO SCRIPTED OR AUTOMATED CONTROLS.

For previous users who have switched to Morii driver, you need to set your Triggers to LEFT Z Rotation and RIGHT Z Axis in the control panel. You can also choose to rollback to the Microsoft driver since the controls are now identical. This will also allow a headset to plug into the controller.

Play

Push the left joystick to move.

Push the right joystick for the cursor/to turn.

XYAB,Back,Start,Dpad directions and pressing in the joysticks are actions 1-12.

Shoulder Buttons are mouse click, target, action bars, and a modifier. Switching actionbars is required for accessing all abilities.

Bottom left shoulder modifies all the other buttons
-Pressing halfway gives you pet controls on 1-12 and left click.
-Pressing all the way gives you party targeting, aura/stance/shapeshift, and menus.
-Pressing both right or left shoulders lets you jump or autorun.

There are many more controls and combinations handled by the gamepad. Some controls can also be altered in the PIE file. A full diagram is displayed in game and can be toggled inside of the Interface/Addons menu. Have fun!

Simple answer: Soulbound360 has more buttons, its simple to install, its set up to play immediately without having to install then map the controller, its made to work from an end-game perspective, and the addon simplifies learning and changing bindings.

Long answer: If you already got something you like and enjoy, I don't think you need to change. Though I believe there are definitely reasons why this is better.

For example, if you use Morii's driver (which I would recommend) youll get the Middle X bound, so you have way more buttons and they're already configured. Not sure Switchblade is compatible with that.

GlovePIE is also a very powerful input emulator. I couldn't do what my PIE files do with JoyToKey or Wow360 for example. I think the only other similar option for this level of functionality would be Pinnacle Game Profiler and thats like 20 bucks for a maybe. Then you'd still have to reinvent what I've already done here for free.

And, its all raid and pvp tested. There are the least amount of button presses you could possibly have for any action you need to do and the most amount of buttons available compared to any other setup I've ever seen. Switchblade/Pinnacle Game Profiler have the ability for you to download configs or set them up I get that, but there are only a few people doing it and it seems they are all resigned to the notion that the controller is for only casual duties.

Another thing. Where the hell do you get Switchblade anymore? A lot of the reason I don't know anything about it is because I don't know where the free version went and their site is all broken. And I'm not paying a subscription for something thats not getting supported and something I know I can do better for free.

Regardless, the addon part still works with whatever software you want to use to show you what your bindings are.

Yeah. It takes very little memory though. Stick a PIE file's path in quotes behind a -, and put your install path to WoW in quotes behind a /r: in the shortcut target for GlovePIE and it will enable your gamepad and run Wow.

morii drivers won't work?

when i double click the driver thingy for morii or whatever, nothing happens, so i uninstalled my original drivers and tried again, nada, reinstalled original drivers, still nada. so i just open pie thingy, with the morii driver version, just to test it see if it maybe DID do something, nada, so the only pie ones that will work right now are the non morii.

my question is this, how do i make the morii driver thingies work?

ps. i'm using windows 7 64 bit.

PPS. i'm not even sure i'm downloading the right files for the driver software? what do i need exactly?

sorry for the confusion, ill break it down for ya

the driver you need specifically for win7 64 bit is either
this one for the wireless http://www.katch.ne.jp/~morii/driver...in7.x64.en.zip
or this one for the wired http://www.katch.ne.jp/~morii/driver...in7.x64.en.zip

these are are Morii's instructions through google translate edited a bit so you can read them easier

1. Go to Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Device Manager
2. When User Account Control shows up click "Continue"
3. Under the "Human Interface Devices" tree, find "Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller". Right click and select Update Driver Software
4. Update Driver Software window appears, select Browse my computer for driver software
5. On the next screen select "Let me pick from a list of drivers"
6. At select driver click "Have Disk"
7. "Install From Disk" appears, click Browse.
8. Choose the INF file in the folder that you unzipped to and hit open
09. Then hit OK
10. Drops back to "Update Driver Software", from there go to "Next"
11. "Windows Security" will pop up, hit Next.
12. Finally it should say updated driver software successfully, just hit close

Oh yeah, when you first install the driver sometimes the calibration is wonky on the analog sticks. If this happens don't panic, rename \Windows\System32\x360cps.dll to \Windows\System32\x360cps.bak and then calibrate the controller in the 'Game Controllers' control panel. Then go back and rename the file again when its done calibrating.

After all that, you'll have to change the 'Xbox Guilde Button' to Button13 in Game Controllers -> Properties -> Buttons tab. In the Triggers tab, change the Z axis to Button 11 and 12 as well. When you start GlovePIE, you can run any PIE file you want, but the S360Morii file will give you the most buttons.

I know its a bit of work but it really makes a big difference in your ability to use the controller in the game. It took me forever to figure all this out so hopefully it saves you some time! Ill also make sure to put this on the main page.

Sorry guys, it was a mistake to make it go to the bottom-right of the screen. >_< Its my first addon so I'm learning things as I go.

In the new version 0.35 it defaults to the center and it can never leave the screen. There is also a reset button for the position of it in the addon options, where you can also make it always show when you start.

Well its easier to set it in WoW itself with the Mouse Sensitivity or cursor slider. Its under Interface-> Mouse. Sensitivity will help you turn when you hold right click, and cursor will help your mouse.

You can also change the var.mouseSensitivity value in the PIE file but you gotta hit Stop first, it wont let you edit while Run is active. Or if you edit in notepad you have to stop, close and then re-open the file in GlovePIE. Where it says screen.width/32 you can change that to make it move faster by changing 32 to a smaller number.

Originally i wanted to change the PIE files through WoW but addons can't write to external files so it would seem.

Oh yeah you can also re-calibrate and push like halfway or 3/4 of the way to the edge of the stick to fool it into thinking the limit is way sooner than it is. That is if you really want it really really sensitive.

Enjoy!

UPDATE: for version 0.36 I made it much easier to edit the PIE file for calibration and deadzones. You can also flip the mouse or movement axis and the mouse or movement joystick. So it should be a breeze now
