Force Authenticator on login

Version: 1.0
by: Resa1983 [More]

NOTE: This file is not supported by Blizzard in any way. Blizzard recommends users to not edit their Registries in any way unless you know what you're doing.
I created this file because I realize users must share systems, wish to feel safer, and would be attempting to delete this registry key manually, possibly causing harm to their system.

Addon
Many users don't like the new change to the Authenticator - where if you've logged into the system with an authenticator before, it no longer requests you to input your authenticator code.

This file fixes that (for PC users).

When run, the file will delete a registry key saved on your system, which will then force WoW to ask you for your authenticator code on the next login when you log in ON THAT SYSTEM.

Unless you can run this on previously logged in systems, those systems won't request the authenticator on login for your account.

How to use:
Run immediately after exiting wow. It'll delete the registry key, and if another user attempts to log into your account on that system, it'll request an authenticator code.

About the fix:
This .zip file consists of a single file:
delete.reg
Code:

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Battle.net\Authenticator]

Why it works
When wow runs, it creates the registry folder, with a random or hashed registry key name, with a value.
Unfortunately, its impossible to directly target that specific key, however nothing else is in the registry folder, so deleting the entire folder doesn't harm your system, your wow install, or your account.

At the time this reg file was posted, that option didn't exist. I'm glad they finally added something.

I think it will randomly ask you for the authenticator. I hadn't had to put in my code for a couple of days, then last night when I logged it, it asked me for the code.

Unless you're playing on a public/shared system, with a weak password (or a password that someone else knows/can guess), I think the system works fine...for now, based on how it's acted towards me.

You might want to look into this:
http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/2226276687

So that you don't have to delete the keys every time before you run WoW.

I'm actually hoping that this addon won't be necessary for much longer (ie, Blizzard will change their stance on the authenticator change).

If they choose instead to keep this change, I'll consider expanding it slightly more.

Nice work but i dont think many people will trust it.

I would also suggest you create a batch file to with this, i mean you could even create an exe for this that removes the reg key at a timed interval like an hour or something similar to a scheduled task.

Nice Even if I don't share my comp. I still prefer to have to use my Authenticator at each login.

Hopefully Blizz will get some negative feedback on this, and either reverse the change, or just add an option on the login screen, account management or something.
