GathererDB WoWHead  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.0.2013-06-15
by: Esamynn, dinesh, MentalPower, Nechckn, Norganna, norganna_uploader

WoWInterface is happy to announce that we have teamed up with Wowhead and the Norganna's AddOns Gatherer team to provide you with an exclusive downloadable Wowhead database for display in-game by Gatherer.

This addon will provide you with all the information currently in the Wowhead database showing all known locations of herbs, minerals and treasures. Now you can simply load up Gatherer, plug this database into it, and know what can be found in the zone you are in, without having to discover them yourself.

Wowhead will be providing regular dumps of their database to the Norganna team, who will then update the GathererDB Wowhead addon exclusively here on WoWInterface.

How it works
The import procedure is simple and painless. Once you have installed the AddOn and have reloaded the game, ensuring that both Gatherer and GathererDB_Wowhead are activated. When you finally log into the game, follow this procedure to import the new data into Gatherer:

  • Open Gatherer's configuration dialog.
  • Click on the red "Database" tab on the left-hand side of the dialog.
  • Click the import button in the main panel.

Make sure to add GathererDB-Wowhead to your favourites list here on WoWInterface and check back periodically to see if it's been updated, or get an email sent to you whenever they update it if you have those notifications turned on. Any time they update it, just re-download GathererDB-Wowhead and update your local copy.

Help improve the database
If you want to contribute your data back to Wowhead to continue expanding the database, please download and install the Wowhead client (available for both PC and Mac) and just follow the instructions on their site.

About Gatherer
Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.

The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining, or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on the minimap.

When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations clearly marked on each zone's map.

About Wowhead
Wowhead was created with one sole intent: to provide World of Warcraft players with an extensive database and tools to enhance their gaming experience. This website is our contribution to this wonderful game.

Our user community is a big part, if not the biggest part, of Wowhead. Almost all of our information comes from our users, through data uploads from the Wowhead Client, comments on database entries and screenshot submissions! The site also features forums, where users can ask questions, discuss important Warcraft-related topics, recommend and share favorite addons, and much more!

Updated to support Gatherer 4.0.4.

19 DEC 2010 Updated the node list and have included what data is available for the gigantic changes seen in WoW 4.x.

09 DEC 2009 Updated to the most recent set of nodes and updated TOC for WoW 3.3

18 FEB 2009 Updated to the latest nodes, including those recently renamed in 3.0.8.

29 DEC 2008 Corrected some inconsistencies between GathererDB and Gatherer. Included more node locations.

05 DEC 2008 Corrected issues in the script pertaining to Icecrown, node IDs, and a few more nodes included in the DB.

04 DEC 2008 Corrected Icecrown naming, items should now appear in that zone.

03 DEC 2008a The correct, expanded DB file and other changes.

03 DEC 2008 Added yet more Northrend and other WotLK node locations, formatting of file, et cetera.

Dragonblight

The DB appears to not include Dragonblight herbalism. The data in Gatherer and the data on Wowhead vary greatly, particularly for Frozen Herbs. All the mining nodes seem to be intact, and the rest of Northrend looks complete, it's just Dragonblight Herbalism.

I'd just like to say thanks to you digital Jedi that spend your time creating software like this. Reliable, consistant, trustworthy, and unimaginably useful.

A while back a guildie's computer crashed. He was asking for someone to help him restore his database for gatherer, apparently he had never heard that you guys built a downloadable one. So he talked me through the process to send him my database in-game.

He thought I was kidding about how large it was... some 12 minutes later it finally finished.

Re: Gatherer DB gettign old!

Steveb1872,

The reason for this is pretty straight forward; the locations of the nodes have not changed since then.
Once there is a re-arrangement, as is forthcoming with Cataclysm, we will put out a new version. The same goes if any new areas are added before then, which, although highly unlikely, could happen.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

Tdawg,

Not exactly sure what you mean, but assume it to be the Heads Up Display.

You can either move, resize, or disable it in the main Gatherer options.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

Sonevipor,

All of the nodes included in the database have been seen and reported by a rather huge number of folks, before they are included in the database. That way, it helps to ensure that no one person or group is messing with the data. As such, there is no on/off switch for the items contained within the database.

If you or your guild only want to see items found/gathered by the guild, then simply do not install the database.

If you have it installed, but no longer want the datapoints, simply enter the following at the chat/command prompt, in-game, and hit Enter:
Code:
/run Gatherer.Config.LastIgnoredPlayer="DB:Wowhead" StaticPopup_Show("GATHERER_REMOVE_BLACKLISTED_NODES")

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

**Nechckn Edit: There may be an extra space between *DB:Wowhead StaticPopup* but try it with the two, first. If it does not work just pull one of them out. Honestly do not have the time to test this out, so let us know which way works, if you would, please. Also, be certain that you make a backup of your Gatherer.lua down within ..\WorldofWarcraft\WTF\Account\<YourWoWAccountName>\SavedVariables before starting, just in case the whole thing 'splodes. TY!

Karaste,

No problem, should be an update in a few weeks, as time permits. That will include all nodes that have met the requirements for inclusion, since there are silly people who purposefully try to submit bogus data, believe it or not.

As for the name, it is either ne-chi-kin sort of like Alex Ovechckn, Any Chicken, Nikk <Last name, starting with an "E"> Chicken, or the Night Elf Chicken, as you note. Really, they are all valid, have had the name for years now, so the Boomkin reference was surely not the original, but it works now.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

Oh, and it's been bugging me every time I look at your name...so I just have to ask. Night Elf Chicken? Boomkin? *grin*

Karaste,

Not sure why they are not in, no one has mentioned it, so had no idea.

If you are not, now, please be sure to run the Wowhead Client, that provides data to Wowhead, so such things can be added. See http://www.wowhead.com/?client for more.

As for a "when", it really depends on time and knowing that there are things missing. Now that you note the area, will take a look, check the data to see if they are now included, and craft a new version, if so.

Likely about 3.3.3, if the data exists, would be a guess.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

Krystiina,

If there is no "Database" entry, then you are not installing the GathererDB_Wowhead AddOn correctly. You need to install it just like any other AddOn. Once correct, you will have a "Database" entry under "HUD".

The critical part of the instructions are the first two:
  • Download both Gatherer and the GathererDB_Wowhead, decompress, and move to the AddOns directory.
  • Open the main WoW AddOns Control panel and ensure that "Load Out of Date" has a checkmark and that Gatherer, GathererHUD, SlideBar, Swatter, and GathererDB_Wowhead all have gold check marks.
If you go to the main WoW AddOns Control Panel and you do not see GathererDB_Wowhead, then you need to re-download, decompress, and move the GathererDB_Wowhead AddOn into the ..WorldofWarcraft\Interface\AddOns folder.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk
