I am no longer developing or maintaining World of Warcraft addons. I haven't played in years, and don't have the time or interest to continue working on addons for a game I don't play anymore. If you are an addon author interested in continuing one of my addons, please see https://phanx.net/addons/. If you are an addon user, sorry, but there won't be any more fixes or updates from me. |
(*) As of Patch 5.4 using Up/Down to access previously entered chat lines without the Alt key is limited to non-secure commands only. If you need to access previously entered secure commands (like /cast or /use) you will still need to hold the Alt key.Options & Commands
(**) If a channel is sticky, then after talking in that channel, the chat input box will open to the same chat type again, rather than making you type /g or /ra again.
Some additional options, such as customizing which channels are made sticky and what abbreviations are used for channel names, are available by editing the Core.lua file in a plain-text editor such as Notepad. If you break something, download a fresh copy and try again.Language Support
Please DO NOT send me PMs asking for help, reporting bugs, or requesting features. To report a bug or suggest a feature, see the instructions below. To get help, post a comment. I read and respond to every ticket and comment!

Post a ticket or comment. If you are reporting a bug, please include directions I can follow to reproduce the bug, whether it still happens when all other addons are disabled, and the exact text of the related error message (if any) from Bugger.
The following features will never be added to PhanxChat, and requests for them will be deleted, so please just don't bother posting such requests:

Links
Yeah, it's PChat related. I disabled PChat and the bug went away, re-enabled it and the bug came back. It appears to only happen for characters that I know the class of (characters that PCchat has remembered class colors for, such as myself, guildys, and party members). Unknown classes, such as those in the trade channel do not display the link bugs.
Going by the change log I'm wondering if your url link fix is somehow getting applied to other links as well. Did you change anything involving class colors, as I could see that as causing the problem too. A screenshot is displayed below. Tested on my level 1 test character, but I first noticed the bug on my level 80 druid. Notice how the trade channel link is fine, but the two links I created myself are not displaying correctly. I also hovered over the achievement link to show that the tooltips still display correctly. |

Re: Links
Can you tell me which item you linked in that screenshot? I just deleted my saved variables for PhanxChat, created a new character, and logged on with only PhanxChat enabled. I linked a Hearthstone in say, yell, whisper, and general chat, without seeing the issue you're seeing.
Also, please try with only PhanxChat enabled. Your screenshot clearly has some addon skinning the tooltip, at least... |

Re: Re: Re: Links
Yeah, running two addons that are trying to do the same thing generally causes problems... that's why I ask people to reproduce problems with ONLY the addon they're blaming enabled.

Re: Re: Class colors are borken
everything shows as green text in this format: [G] [Name]: message here... What I expected to happen is this: [G] <Name>: Message here... Not sure how to fix this, what I have tried ends up ALWAYS having the brackets ie. [G] <[Name]> Also as far as I can tell all other channels are formatted properly... I don't know if it is relevant to the problem I am having but I have 3 separate chat windows, left contains general/trade/says/etc... middle has party/raid chat, and right has only guild related chat... Please advise |

Re: Re: Re: Class colors are borken
*Update*
Ok apparently it does have something to do with the 3rd window, I just tested other channels in that window and they do the same thing, no colorization, and only bracketed names... |

Please see the "Reporting Bugs" section in the addon description and follow the directions there. I am not experiencing this issue and will need more than a screenshot to figure out why you are experiencing it.

not seeing any difference between the previous version(3.1.1.49-beta) and this one(3.2.0.50)
The character names are still grey until I a shift click on them to find out what class they are. In the previous version(3.1.1.49-beta) I could disable the name coloring and the names would be colored appropriately. yes i submitted this as a bug..

Hmm... either I somehow committed 2 revisions without making any changes, or WoWI's packager screwed up. I'll repost the update shortly.

Okay, the update is correctly posted now.
Hopefully obvious, but if your locale hasn't patched to WoW 3.2 yet, don't update to the latest version of PhanxChat yet! |

getting a ton of errors with the new build. Didnt have the error till I installed the new build.

As I am not experiencing any such errors myself, I can only assume it is a problem caused by another addon. Please log in with only PhanxChat enabled and see if the problem persists. If it still occurs, please use the Bug Reports button underneath the big Download button and post a bug report. If it does not occur, start enabling your other addons until the problem comes back. Reading your error message, my best guess is that GuildGreet has not been properly updated to support the changes to the chat system in 3.2 with regard to player name coloring, and is incorrectly hooking chat functions.
