Grid  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 8.0.1.1
by: Phanx [More]

Grid has been continued as Plexus by Doadin. Use that instead; Grid has not been updated since 2018 and will not be updated in the future.

Grid is a compact and highly configurable party/raid unit frame addon.
The compact grid of unit frames lets you select a group member quickly, while keeping a good overview of the whole group. It shows as much information as possible without overloading you. It allows you to customize what information you see, and how you see it. It works in both party and raid groups, and supports pets and vehicles.

Want more features? The Grid core tries to include only features which are generally useful for all classes and roles, but makes it easy to add new features with a simple plugin API for developers. Over 75 third-party plugins are already available!

Type “/grid” for options, or right-click the minimap button, DataBroker launcher, or Grid frame tab.

Language Support
Grid is compatible with all World of Warcraft localizations. It is currently translated into English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文, and 繁體中文.

To add or update translations for any language, enter them on the WowAce project page. New and updated translations will be automatically included in the next version of Grid!

HINT: The WowAce interface for adding translations is quite cumbersome. To make the process easier, you can use the Export function on WowAce, copy the exported data into your text editor, fill in your translations, and then paste them back into WowAce using the Import function.
Credits
Grid was originally conceived and written by Maia and Pastamancer in late 2006. Phanx has been the primary developer since late 2009. Jerry wrote the original pet support code. Mikk designed the icon. jlam added some advanced options for auras. Greltok has helped a lot with bugfixing. Finally, lots of people have contributed translations!

I am looking to make the health-bar decay go from right to left instead of top to bottom.. Is this a separate add-on for grid to allow this to happen?

/grid > "Frame" tab > "Orientation of Frame" dropdown > "Horizontal"

You should probably spend a few minutes looking at the options. This one is one of the first things visible when you open the options window.

Not possible per se, since the Unit Health status controls the health bar too. If you set a threshold of, say, 50%, then health bars would stay full and then suddenly jump down to 50% with no updates in between.

You might be able to find a plugin to help you. See the User's Guide (there's a link in the main description) for a list of existing plugins.

Hey Phanx is their any way to choose grid's healthframe colors yourself? Basically I want all my raidframes to be grey-ish and healthdeficit in classcolor. Like in http://h-4.abload.de/img/wowscrnshot_110910_2216qsp.jpg for example (dont with Stuf raidframes)

However I only seem to be able to choose classcolored, or a custom color with the problem being that the healthdeficit is also in that color.

Oh and I added Beacon of Light to the buff section, however the dot in the corner wont show. It does when I check the box "show when not applied" (or something like that), but ofcourse I don't want all my raidframes to have the dot.

Led,

I use grid and have my frames set to all a grey color and then at a certain hp lose the frames go class colored. Pops out very well who is down health and what not. Pic below.

To do this I do the following.

Status > Health > Health Deficit > Class colored AND 80% threshold (obviously can be raised or lowered)
Status > Health > Unit Health > Custom AND Color is d5d5d5 its a grey white, because grids frames color very dark for some reason.

Indicators > Healing Bar Color > Check Health Deficit, Unit Health AND Debuff: Ghost
Indicators > Healing Bar > Incoming Heals

Might not be exactly what you want, but I havent yet found a way to keep the health bar grey while the deficit shows class colored. And this works very well for prioritizing heals.

Question about layout.

Hi yea I was wondering if its possible to change the layout of Grid so that the party / raid memebers names are below their unit panel?

specifically to look like the layout displayed in this video.

No. You can uncheck "Use class colors" for the Unit Health status, and that will let you make the bars all gray, but the foreground color is always derived from the background color (or vice versa, if you have the invert option on). I have no plans to change this.

Post a ticket over on CurseForge and attach your Grid saved variables, and state which profile you are using. Without seeing your actual settings, all I can suggest is checking to make sure someone actually has that buff on them (since the only way the status would show when you check "Show if missing" would be if they don't have the buff).

Use any of the numerous druid-HoT-related plugins. See the User's Guide (link in addon description) for a list of available plugins. Remember, though, that plugins are not written or supported by the Grid team, so if you have questions about a plugin or need help with one, you'll need to post that on the plugin's page, not here.

I'm not going to waste my time watching a video and squinting at the undoubtedly horrible quality and tiny resolution trying to figure out what you're talking about, but based on your description (what I quoted) no, Grid does not offer that functionality. It would require not only moving the text outside the box, but also adding a bunch of extra spacing between boxes. All in all, it's a huge waste of space and does not increase functionality in the slightest.

It's working now, I shift-clicked the spell in my spellbook to insert it in grid which came up with [Beacon of Light], I deleted it again and just typed Beacon of Light myself without the [] and that does work.

Request - please allow wider unit frames

I like to have long, somewhat thin unit frames. The reason I need this is a bit complex, so I won't go into it here, unless you'd like to know.
In any case, I have the unit frames as wide as they will go (100) and have the scale at the maximum setting (double I think) and they are still not quite wide enough. Would it be easy for you to allow the slider for width to be twice what it is now?

Thanks.

Chimaeron

My guild is on Chimaeron and I'd like to create an indicator for anyone who is currently UNDER 10k health.

I am pretty new to Grid so I'm looking for some tips on how to do this.

thanks.

I've already responded to that less than 10 comments down.

That isn't what Grid was designed for. Either use an addon that was designed to work that way, or modify the code yourself.

Misaligned frames are not a "crash", in any sense of the word. The issue shown in your screenshot should be resolved as of r1400; try deleting Grid from your addons folder and reinstalling it by hand from a fresh download.

If the problem still persists, see the existing ticket in the ticket tracker (there's a link in main description) and post a reply with the requested information. Neither I nor anyone I know personally (eg. I have direct access to their computer, or I can swap files with them and walk them through debugging procedures and tests over the phone/Ventrilo) has seen this issue since r1400, so at this point there's not really any reasonable way for me to do anything further if "there's a problem" is all the information I'm given.

Unfortunately, Grid is the only addon that I can find that supports permanent custom lists. I'd be happy to modify the code if I could figure out where to make the change(s). Care to offer any hints?
