PanoShot  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.5.4.2
by: endx7 [More]

PanoShot assists in the creation of panoramic screenshots.

/panoshot - Rotates the view while taking screenshots.
/oneshot - Take a single screenshot.

Panoshot does not stitch the images for you, so you will need panoramic stitching software to do this for you. Also, it is suggested that you zoom into first person view when taking the screenshots.

Panoshot will turn off player/npcs names, rotate the camera, and take the actual screenshots.

How To Use

Changelog
=========

1.5.4 (2017-04-15)
------------------

- Change setting view distance to not rely on an ancient arbitrary value.

1.5.3 (2016-11-26)
------------------

- Improve cursor hiding. Unfortunately the game client no longer seems
to allow AddOn textures to be used for cursors.

1.5.2
-----

- Fix screenshot handling in 6.x clients.

1.5.1
-----

- Make sure each screenshot takes place in a different second to prevent
screenshot files from colliding.

1.5
---

- Fixes for Mists of Pandaria.

I've used Autostitch to good effect. I've heard photoshop has a plugin of some sort, as well as gimp (but I don't use photoshop, and I haven't -actually seen- such a plugin for gimp).

I just wrote a fairly in depth guide if anyone is interested.

Let me know if anything is missing.

Great idea for a Mod!

One thing though, I gave this a try and for whatever reason I was only getting five shots when all was said and done. Is it possible that different sized Displays could effect the number of shots taken?

Edit (after further use)____________________________________________________
Since I like the idea of this mod, I tried it on a different computer to see if there was any difference in how it worked. The second computer has a smaller display with lower resolution than the first. The result was only four shots when using the /panoshot command.

What resolution and display size are you using? Is there a way to adjust this mod for different displays and/or resolutions? It would be great if this mod had two or three resolutions from the in-game settings (for example 1024x768, 1280x960, 1600x1200). That way a person could set up a "Photo Shoot" by selecting a preset resolution in the mod and switching the game resolution to match it then take the shot.

The machine I use it on is only 1024x768. I'll try to see if I can reproduce your issue with another machine.

I'm not sure why you'd be having any issues, considering FlipCameraYaw() that PanoShot uses appears to take the angle in degrees.

I'm not able to reproduce this issue with a resolution of 1280x800.

Can you run this version http://cornhooves.org/tmp/PanoShot-test.zip and take a screenshot of what output you get out of it? (You may need to make your chat frame larger to get it all..)

I downloaded the linked version of PanoShot and installed it, then ran it again in game with the same result as before. Below I have listed links for the resulting five shots. I hope this helps.

Edit...
After taking these shots I noticed that there was a listing of the various camera angles in the chat frame, I don't remember that happening before. Regrettably, for whatever reason there was not a shot taken at each stop. Also, I disabled all other mods while trying this in the hopes of avoiding interference.

Yes, the version I gave you was supposed to print out some debugging information.

It printed out all the proper angles? Strange, it's as if screenshots aren't being saved. PanoShot specifically waits until WoW says that the screenshot has succeeded before taking another, but apparently that's not very accurate, and some aren't not being saved. I think I can come up with a fix, but it'll slow down the screenshot process somewhat. (Although it'll be hard for me to test)

Incidentally, what platform are you on? (Windows, OS X, or Linux (Cedega or Wine))

OSX

To some that would be the root of the problem right there ; )
I'll be happy to test it for you if you would like.

I had a feeling that might be it. The good news is, it appears specific to a particular platform, so I can automatically adjust for that. It might be framerate related too though, how high of framerates do you get?

I'll try to get you a version today.

Sorry if you read that pre edit I misread your question. I typically will average around 20-29fps. It's much lower in some of the major cities or high traffic areas though (it can get as low as 8 or as high as 47).

Ok, I'd like you to try http://www.cornhooves.org/tmp/PanoShot-test2.zip

It enforces a .5 second wait time between screenshots. This should work, and probably is even more than is needed. If you are so inclined, you can tweak the wait_time variable at the top of PanoShot.lua to change it.

Perfect! OK so I did adjust the time slightly and made it .75 second. Now I need to find a good Stiching App for OSX and I will be in business. I tried a couple with a trial version of Calico and they look awesome! But I am too cheap to spend the forty bucks to buy it.

Thanks for working with me to get this working on OSX. I will post some of the shots I take once I get a Stiching App that doesn't watermark all over the final piece.

This is now my new favorite MOD!

Ok, it occurs to me that it was probably trying to write to the same file twice. I think I know a good way to fix this bug for good without adding semi-arbitrary wait times. Funny I didn't see this on windows though.

Disclaimer: it didn't really occur to me, but I did find this out after some discussion.
