Gatherer  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 7.3.1
by: Esamynn, dinesh, MentalPower, Nechckn, Norganna

Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.

The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on you minimap.

When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations marked on the particular map you are viewing there.

For more information, please visit us at http://www.gathereraddon.com/

INSTALLATION:
--------------
Extract the data to your "World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns" directory so that the "Gatherer" directory is a subdirectory of the "AddOns" directory.

USAGE:
--------------
Just use the game as normal.
When you gather things, they will appear on your minimap and your main map.
If you want to configure the addon, click the Gatherer configuration icon floating around your minimap frame or type /gather options.

Slash Commands
/gather minimap (on|off|toggle) - controls the minimap tracking functionality
/gather mainmap (on|off|toggle) - controls the world map tracking functionality
/gather dist <n> - sets the minimap tracking distance to this number of units. (in game yards)
/gather num <n> - sets the maximum number of items to display (default=20, up to 50)
/gather herbs (on|off|toggle) - select whether to show herb data on the minimap")
/gather ore (on|off|toggle) - select whether to show mining data on the minimap")
/gather treasure (on|off|toggle) - select whether to show treasure data on the minimap")
/gather options - show the configuration dialog

Talked to a friend about it today and he suggested the same thing with the AddOns button. Problem is, when I go to log in to my character, no where on any of the WOW interface screens, before or after I log in, can I find this mysterious AddOns button. *facepalm*

Edit: Never mind. I'm a fricking moron. *double facepalm + headdesk* I fail.

And the files are all contained in there. However, when I get into the game, I don't have any options to use the addon and whatnot. Any thoughts on getting it to work, or am I just blatantly stupid?

First I would like to say I have used Gatherer for a very long time and have never had issues, I figured mine was outdated because I was getting a message at the bottom right corner, so I downloaded the newest one. I didn't delete any folders or anything, ALL my nodes on my mini map are now gone, everything. I have used this program for well over two years, updated it here and there without any major issues, I even swapped my info from my old computer to my laptop without a problem, now I update and everything is missing.

Help please!

Edit: It is alright now, I used GathererDB and it brought back majority of my nodes back.

Re: Gatherer and Carbonite?

Madcated,

There at least used to be some change needed in Carbonite for the nodes to show, you will need to check there for more on that, though. From our understanding, they do not follow the usual standards, so they had some extra code needed to ensure compatibility.

Let us know of your progress.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

WoW 3.2 Patch Update

Gatherers,

There were some changes between the PTR and Live that necessitated additional changes on the part of nearly all AddOn Authors, including us.

We plan to have the new Gatherer widely available later today.

Happy Gatherering,

Re: Re: Re: Fish Nodes

Immolate,

As to the fishing schools, that is exactly the point, they are only along the shoreline, where as mining and herb nodes can be just about anywhere on the map. If you want to mark them specifically, then a Mapping Note AddOn will provide that ability. There are some of us who would like them included, but it has not been a priority for those working on the codebase.

In regards to Everfrost chips, they are included already.

The clouds do wander, so when we had initially included them, it ended up with a big mess of marks, so, although we intend to add them, a reliable method of marking has yet to be introduced.

For other items you would like to mark, one of the general Mapping Note AddOns provide the ability to mark them. We do tend to include more items over time, based on feedback, books in Dalaran will likely be included at some point, but that is about it as far as items that people have requested.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

Surely it wouldn't hurt to allow players the option of storing fish school locations (preferably with some "clustering" to reduce the same nodes being stored multiple times depending on where the players character is standing while fishing it)?

It would also be handy if their were options to store other gathered item, such as clouds (I know they wander a bit..), everfrost chips, books etc.

We do not include them, since, unlike the other nodes that can be found basically anywhere on the map, they are always along the shore.

If you need to see the pools, recommend using something like Notes-U-Need to mark them.

Re: Databases for different characters

AcornAH,

There is not. In fact, the database is saved across the account, not even per character.

If you want to have two, you would simply copy the ..\WorldofWarcraft\WTF\Account\<YourWoWAccountName>\SavedVariables\Gatherer.lua and then swap the two back and forth.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

I'd like to run one character's database that he shares with guild and friends, and another character that builds a database completely by himself.

Thanks
