edit: Hmm, odd but now posting seems to work.

Something changed somewhere in the last weeks and all files need to be renamed to ".ogg" to bring back the silence.

Thanks for the link! /hugs

I opened Notepad++ (didn't type anything in it), and saved it as blahblah.wav So the sound file isn't even a real sound file.. just an empty text file with a .wav extension.

Edit: I did notice the title of their posts focus seems to be music. It would seem we are able to "disable" sounds, but not redistribute those sounds. Since the wav file I made isn't even a wav file and is merely an empty text file, it should be ok. Hopefully if there is anything to worry about, the forum admins will make a public news post to let us know.

No.

If they where bad then they would not get accepted here. This type of mod uses a function that is programed into the WoW client. All this does is load this sound file instead of the one in the WoW MPQ (data) file.

There are a few topics around here that already talk about this very subject.
Here is one.

These type of mods have been around a long long time. One of the first being the Fish Bobber sound replacement.
