Hi, my name is Thaoky, and I'm an Altoholic

Altoholic is an Ace 3 add-on written for people who dedicate most of their time to leveling alts, and who want to have as much information as possible in one place.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

I am back in the game since 28/12/2020.

If you are upgrading from a version below 9.0.003, YOU MUST CLEAR YOUR SAVED VARIABLES !!

This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua

About the add-on:

The add-on has been in development since December 2007 and was officially released in late March 2008. It provides you information about your alts (bags, mails, AH, etc...) without having to reconnect them all the time.

About the author:

I was born in '76 (you do the math) and I work as a Project Manager + Software Architect + Full Stack Web Dev (yup, multiple hats) in a large multinational, so my coding time is limited, and Work > Gaming.

I live in Belgium, and obviously play on EU only.

Assistance will be provided on a best effort basis, but in any case always be polite and respectful when asking for help, I am neither a teenager, nor a punching ball. I am a cool guy with people who are cool with me. Respect that rule and we'll be fine.

2020/12/28: Due to Teelo's actions, I have reverted his changes and resumed development based on my latest version of the code. Some of his new features are temporarily not available anymore, some are gone forever. The main Shadowlands features will be back though, just be patient.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR 8.0 : As with every new expansion, many things have changed in the API, and it is REQUIRED to clear your Saved Variables for the addon.
This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua

There WILL be bugs if you use your old files without cleaning them first.
Some fixes to work around API changes are too time consuming, so cleaning is required. A meagre price to pay once per expansion.

- This concludes the conversion of all DataStore modules to make them compatible with all versions.

- Fixed an issue where sorting the bags while the merchant frame is opened would trigger a slow down (Thanks Belazor !)

I've had to move the addon to Ace 3, and that basically changed the deal. What used to be provided automatically (the right-click menu) does not happen anymore, I've spent way too much time on this issue already, and the last thing I'll attempt regarding fubar is to circumvent this issue in another way, hopefully as soon as possible. I understand how annoying fubar issues have been lately, but just imagine how frustrating they are to me, and I have little room for manoeuver.. In the meantime, I would like to suggest two things: 1) I advise you to use an LDB display, as there is a simple LDB launcher in altoholic now. 2) You can also configure a keybinding for the addon, that way you won't even need any icon. @AnrDaemon: had the same issue when inviting my DK, fixed in next release.

I appreciate the tip, but with that installed it now lists Altoholic TWICE on my Fubar. Disabling it removes the 2nd "instance" of it, but does not remove the original.

I'd also much prefer to have this option fixed with the original Altoholic anyways. Please? I'm getting tired of this problem.

Contains nothing at all... just the frame appears with the little drop down in the upper left corner to choose other ace mod (which worked fine btw). No errors received so not sure what is wrong. Do that, login a few chars, play with the addon a bit, and see if you get errors. When you feel everything is fine, enable other addons, and find which one causes a conflict, if that happens to be the case. Hope this helps.

I am using v3.0.003 on US English language. I have verified that I have LUA errors on, and still didn't get an error. I put my old SV back, and then everything displayed once, then not the next time I logged in. Seems intermittent. I am going to try a bit more, I wish I could get it to display an error, it's very odd.

You'll get the fix soon, when I'm done updating the loot tables & factions for LK. @Arctae: which version are you using ? and in which language are you playing ? If nothing is displayed, there must be a lua error, make sure you display them (wow options) and let me know what error you get. For your original problem, you could have right-clicked on a char to delete it in the addon, but since you deleted your SV file, it should be ok now. Let me know what you find.

I get the interface to display, I can click tabs and make selections, I can even search (and it says it returns results), but I can not see anything in that main window. I do not get any UI errors. I even tried turning off all other add-ons. I did transfer one of my characters on the realm to another account (I had 10 characters), and made another. So there are 11 characters displaying... The only thing I haven't tried yet is removing my saved variables for it and trying from scratch. EDIT: Okay, I deleted my saved variables, and logged my warlock in, and Altoholic looked fine. Then I logged my warrior in, and it's blank again... Still no errors. Last edited by Arctae : 11-15-08 at 09:57 AM.

Can you please try without these (visit the AH to refresh the data for a given alt) ? And also tell me where you downloaded them, I tried to Auctioneer Suite, but there are less components in it than what's listed, so if I want to make further tests, I'll need this info

These are disembedded core AA addons. You can obtain disembedded version from norganna snaps repository.
Latest published is the Revision 3824 (Published as beta WotLK compatibility release)
You'd also need a library pack. Just grab latest one

Main reason why am I using disembedded version, is because I can disable unwanted addons on login screen, rather than rely on internal checkboxes, which actually not unloading addons, but reducing it's functionality.
