Mapster  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.11.0
by: Nevcairiel [More]

Mapster is a very simple world map enhacement addon, which was designed to work in conjunction with all other map addons out there. The idea to create Mapster originated from pure lack of a simplistic addon that only modifies the world map, without adding a full scale feature set.

Features

  • Map Style (Scale & Alpha)
  • Coordinates
  • Fog of War removal
  • Enhancement of the raid/party group icons

You can access the Mapster configuration menu through the new button on the world map, as shown in the screenshot.
All features (except the style) can be turned off individually if you do not need/want them.

If you're looking for a replacement to Cartographer, i also recommend the following addons:

Mapster
1.11.0 (2023-11-28)
Full Changelog Previous Releases
  • Add 10.2 FogClear data
  • Disable multi-version packages
  • Remove Classic support
Maintaining Classic support has become a huge burden for this mod, since
it is designed to modify the Blizzard UI, and the UI diverges even
further between Retail and the different Classic variants with every
    update.
Hence, I rather focus my efforts on Retail, and other mods.

I love this addon and appreciate all the work you've done.

Is there any way to integrate the subzone information into the title bar?

For example, in the following shot, would it be possible for the title to read "Icecrown : Subzone" instead of just "Icecrown"? Thanks in advance

Mapster 1.3.2 also hides all the QH icons in the map itself.

I thought it was perhaps a QH issue so I deleted QH & all its saved variables and re-installed and still showed no icons on mapster 1.3.2

So I then deleted Mapster 1.3.2 & saved variables and went back to 1.3.1 and all the icons now show up again...

Not sure what changed, using the latest build of QH 1.3.4

Thanks

Having the same issue as Elvis here. Here's what I've noticed:

1) If I immediately open Mapster after zoning into the game the QH icon will show up after a second or two (typical with it's load time) and persist through opening and closing thereafter.

2) If I wait several seconds after zoning into the game and open Mapster the icon never shows. Like Elvis said, if I drop into minimized mode the button shows up and can be interacted with.

3) In maximized mode, if you adjust the alpha level you can see traces of the QH button, but can not interact with it.

If i had to guess there's an issue with strata levels. I weeded through some of Mapster's code as well as the mapbutton.lua for Questhelper, but even raising the strata level of that didn't seem to help. Here's hoping you find the source. I'll cross post this to the QH comments as well.

Downloaded, but can't see coordinates

I just downloaded this add-on. I saw the Add-on button in the log-in page. I also saw the Add-on tab in the Interface section of Options once I've logged on as a character. But, I'm not seeing any coordincates on either my mini-map or the larger map. Enable Coordinates is checked. I don't know what else to do to see the coordinates. Any suggestions?

QuestHelper button now hidden

I just upgraded from Mapster 1.3.1 to 1.3.2. When using the full size map, the QuestHelper button they place in the upper right-hand corner of the map is now hidden. The button is still there, because if I switch to the smaller sized map with Mapster's default transparency enabled, I can see the QuestHelper button in the corner.

I haven't run into the issue with opening the map in combat that was changed in 1.3.2, so I think I'll go back to 1.3.1 until this is sorted out.

Go into Mapster Options.
Uncheck (Mini) Hide Border and (Mini) Disable Mouse.
Switch to the Miniature Map.
You should now be able to click on the Title Bar of the miniature map and move it to where you want.
You can go back and turn those two options back on if you want and the miniature map should stay where you placed it.
@Durandil
Unchecking (Mini) Disable Mouse was the trick. Nothing like not seeing the forest for the trees.

Thank you.

I found something else besides the resizing of the Blizz #s on the Maps. Would there also be a way to allow the Shift-Click Tracking of those #s on the Maps and the Quests in the Quest List on the Main Map? That would be a LOT more convenient than opening the Quest Log to do it.

Been a fan of Mapster for a while.
There's one little thing I don't know if anyone has mentioned here.
If you're running Gatherer, the Gatherer "Hide/Show Items" button overlaps the Mapster Options button down in the lower left corner. You can still click either button because they're different sizes, but you can't see the text on the Mapster button.
The mapster options button is new with the 3.3 version, right? Either that or I never noticed it before.
Someone has mentioned it over at Gatherer's curse page, so I think they are aware of it now, but I figured I'd mention it here too.

I tried Questhelper and hated it. And it's a memory hog. Same goes for Lightheaded.
TomTom and Cromulent don't cover what Cart_Questinfo did: Putting dots on the map where somebody lootet a questitem. Just that, nothing else. Couldn*t somebody look at Cart_Questinfo and tweak it for Mapster support?

I second this, I used Cart for a long time till I found Mapster and now I use all the above addons plus QuestHelper which I still find much better then the built-in one.
