Hey Guys,
Currently I'm maintaining this adddon, however I have no plans to add new features as I don't play WOW anymore (WOW withdrawals are real). If someone is interested in taking it over from me please see the TOC on the addon and contact me using the current maintainer information.

BuffWatcher is an addon that will check your buffs, and if you're missing an essential one, it'll put a warning up on the screen. All buffs are completely optional! Only check for the buffs you want to, and you can change buff checks any time. BuffWatcher should now be able to watch any buff, proc, or aura. If you run into a problem or have a request, please post it here!
BuffWatcher now works very differently than pre-Cata versions. Buffs now belong to Categories, and if any buff in a Buff Category is found, then that Buff Category is satisfied. Categories are completely independent of each other (you could have the same buff in two, or three, or five different Buff Categories, or you can have one buff in each Buff Category. BuffWatcher doesn't care).
For example, the Warlock spells Demon Skin, Demon Armor, and Fel Armor could all go in one Buff Category, with the short name of "Armor". If any of the three buffs are active on the you, then the "Armor" Buff Category is satisfied. If none of those buffs are active, then you will get an "Armor Missing!" message.
For example, a Shaman's Earth Shield can only be on one target, and you want to know when it falls off.
For example, all of a Paladin's Auras could go in an "Aura" Buff Category, because a Paladin would want an aura active at all times. Let's say the paladin only wants Crusader Aura active out-of-combat: He could remove Crusader Aura from the "Aura" Buff Category (so if he has Crusader Aura active, BuffWatcher will warn of a missing Aura). But that's not very good; a better option would be to instead make a new Buff Category, have it only have Crusader Aura, and mark that Buff Category as "do not want" (so if he has Crusader Aura active, then BuffWatcher will warn him that Crusader Aura is active). But that's not the best solution, because Paladins do want Crusader Aura active, they just don't want it active in-combat. So if the Paladin unchecks the "out-of-combat" option, then BuffWatcher will only check for Crusader Aura when the player is in combat, and will only issue a warning if Crusader Aura is active.

Hi, thanks for the very helpful addon.
I have an 'issue' that is more an annoyance than bug. The notification 'Food buff missing' sometimes appears on a single line and sometimes the word 'missing' wraps to another line. It does this about half the time. No other warning has done this. Thanks again. |

version 40 is released!
I'll be adding a new facet to BW, called "ProcWatcher". It would be its own addon but there already is an addon named "Proc Watcher" and the names are too similar (even though the other Proc Watcher addon is completely misnamed) So! Give me a list of the procs you'd like the new sort-of-addon to watch for. Currently i have: Death Knight: Killing Machine, Acclimation Druid: Nature's Grace, Owlkin Frenzy, Eclipse, Clearcasting Hunter: Quick Shots, Rapid Killing, Lock and Load, Mage: Clearcasting, Missile Barrage, Hot Streak, Firestarter, Fingers of Frost, Fireball! Paladin: Infusion of Light, The Art of War Priest: Borrowed Time, Surge of Light, Serendipity (1) (2) (3) Rogue: Remorseless Shaman: Clearcasting, Maelstrom Weapon (5) Warlock: Eradication, Molten Core, Decimation, Backlash, Nether Protection, Empowered Imp, Backdraft Warrior: Taste for Blood, Sudden Death, Slam!, Sword and Board

my girlfriend was just messing with her shaman, the Maelstrom check seems to not be working (it was working before i released it, no code changed)
The problem seems to be when changing specs, buffwatcher doesn't get updated that it should recheck for talents. So i'll fix that, shouldn't take too long

version 39 is out!
I've said that I don't think Holy Shield should be watched, but there've been enough requests for it that i guess it should be |

This doesn't happen to me, nor my girlfriend, nor her brother ... none of us have the Buffet addon though. If Buffet is disabled, does BuffWatcher still have this problem? Or does it only happen with Buffet?

not too familiar with lua code myself, but CooldownToGo is a pretty straightforward addon with functional text scaling and frame movement, and a popup display not unlike what you're doing with buffwatcher.... you might be able to glean some ideas for fixing your own code in those areas by looking at how it is written
good luck~

Edit: The results are in for HoW, it works correctly. It's only supposed to show up in-combat, i dunno if you noticed that. Edit2: Why would you notice that? I didn't say it in the description (it does now)
Edit: I tested them on both my and my girlfriend's computer, both options work as expected. Are you trying to use them in a city with "Display while resting" unchecked?
I didn't know about the manual positioning and reset functions popping up an error, hopefully it's nothing major and i'll have it fixed soon

Yeah, I'm also experiencing the text "distortion". It seems to be improperly scaled or something, and when I try adjusting the font size in the options, only the spell icon size changes (not the text). I'll post a screenshot when I get home.
Also, many of the other functions in options don't seem to do anything; selecting to make the frame movable, for example, doesn't actually make it movable, and the manual positioning and reset functions pop up an error. I'll put together a more detailed bug report shortly. From the description, this addon is exactly what I've been looking for as a buff reminder, so I hope you're able to squash these bugs and get things in working order |

For some reason it doesn't warn me at all about Horn of Winter (and i just tested version 35), it also doesn't warn me if i dont have the buff (i basically tried everything).
The options give me an error (will post the exact message once i get back from work) whenever i try to enable or disable the Horn of Winter. (acutally it gives me an error whenever i mess with anything in the options) Food Buffs and weapon buffs work fine, but disabeling them in the options does nothing, their "warnings" still display. The last thing, and probably the biggest problem for me is that the text looks totally distorted on my screen (1680x1050 lowest UI Scale), i will get a screenshot for you once i get home, it doesn't make the text unreadable, just makes it look like utter crap (sorry for my wording, but its true), nowhere near what is displayed in the preview. I've tried disabeling all addons, deleting WTF, cache etc. to see if it was a problem that other addons could be causing, however it still happens, all of it. |
