LilSparky's Workshop  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 119release
by: lilsparky [More]

LilSparky's Workshop adds auction-derived pricing information for trade skills right into the trade skill recipe frame. Each skill is evaluated for material costs and potential value of the item created. These two numbers are listed next to each skill in an easy-to-read format.

Supported Auction Scanners:

* Auctioneer
* AuctionLite
* AuctionMaster
* Auctionator

Trade Skill Interfaces Supported:

* GnomeWorks
* AdvancedTradeSkillWindow
* Skillet
* Blizzard's Standard UI
* Doublewide Tradeskills
* Tradeskill HD
* MrTrader
* Jobber

Optionally Requires:

* Informant
* LibPeriodicTable
(these mods will assist in identifying vendor sourced items)

Auction pricing models can be selected by right-clicking either the value column or the cost column (each can have a different pricing method attached).

The Value column can be left clicked to cycle through the different valuation methods for the resultant item: Auction Value (a), Vendor Value (v), Disenchant Value (d) or the greatest of the three different values (the default). Any instance of an item Value being greater than the Cost to create it will have a highlighted Value entry. Optionally, the Value column can be displayed as a percentage of the Cost column.

The Cost column simply sums up the costs for each reagent and reports the total.

Both columns can be combined into a single "Profit" column which simply reflects the Value minus the Cost.

Tooltips for each column give more details about the price breakdowns LSW is considering.

Right clicking on the cost column will bring up a menu offering the ability to override item price and vendor availability on a per-reagent basis.

also.. what's the deal with linked tradeskills in trade? with the lilsparky/skillet combo? I remember clicking a linked tradeskill once, and it loaded up with skillet, with the lsw numbers in there.. but now it doesn't do it.. did I disable this feature somehow? or was it just a fluke that It showed up that one time.
i dunno. somebody else recently posted something about skillet not working for linked tradeskills. that doesn't make much sense to me. the tradeskill frame is the tradeskill frame. if skillet is the tradeskill frame you are using, then it should react to all tradeskill links..

you're not holding "shift" for any reason when clicking links are you? shift will temporarily disable my skillet clone.

hmm... it occurs to me that my skillet might also fail to initialize (with an error) if you are using an alt with no tradeskills and click on a trade link... could this be the case with your usage?

yeah, that's the one. you can view your alt's tradeskills by left-clicking on your toon's name and selecting a new trade from the dropdown. there's also an "all data" group that is full trade links.

And what I'm trying to get out of this addon..
Is a way to glance through my tradeskill window and find something that can be mass produced and sent off to my enchanting alt for Disenchanting.

Bolts of cloth are cheaper than the cloth itself, and are harder to find in large quantities in the AH

Example..
Silk Robe Disenchants for 200% value, but Bolts of silk are priced at 50% of the silk itself, and there are only 2 in the auction house.
lsw is not great at providing information about mass producing. the problem is exactly what you're running into -- availability of materials. really, i think there's room for a more in-depth mod to handle this kind of thing -- probably more closely related to the auction house and used more sparingly.

lsw is more lightweight so that it doesn't bog down the tradeskill panel too much. a crafting profit tool would really need to search the current auction scan to see what items are available and how they might be used to create new items that could be sold for profit. it would rely on having current auction data and would probably take a few moments to do an analysis...

perhaps this functionality could be added to lsw as an additional feature. it has much of the needed code in place...

everybody knows that the auction value of cloth goes down when you make them into bolts..
yes. or at least, it can.

if you use the cost basis function "reagent cost" (right-click on the cost column to get the menu) then it will attempt to find the cheapest price. in doing so, it will consider craftability (including disenchanting, milling, prospecting as well as conversions of common items like greater/lesser essences, etc) to find the cheapest way to construct something. oftentimes, tho, this ends up being kind of wooly as lsw might suggest some pretty quirky ways get from a to b.

if you use the "resale value" cost basis, then lsw actually looks for the best sales price as tho you were going to auction these items yourself. this is the default setting and is based on the premise that if you have 10 bolts of cloth, then you could auction them for the current market price for bolts and collect x amount of gold, or you could turn them into some other item that's worth y amount of gold. finding a cheap way to make those bolts doesn't change the presumption that you could sell those bolts for x amount of gold.

you can force the resale value to consider crafting as well by selecting the "always craft" button, but i'm not sure that gets you anything. in fact, i'm a little vague as to whether that would look for the cheapest way to produce the reagents or the most costly...

also, you'd need to have some way to tell lsw about the conversion process. lsw has very few built-in recipes (only the ones that aren't actually available from the client). in order to consider cloth->bolt conversions, you'd need to have scanned that recipe at some point (ie, opened the tradeskill of a tailor). mostly, this isn't an issue because one is typically only concerned about what they personally can craft, but if you ever did wonder what the true "cost" of a particular trade item was (to help determine if you're getting reemed at the ah when you buy a scroll or gem) you can use a mod like skillet branch or gnomish yellow pages (or even just a linked skill) to examine (and cache) the recipes you're interested in pricing...

also, the "personal craftability" flag will limit reagent crafting to only what your toon can do so as to avoid linked skills from confusing the process (like if you scan an alchemist's trade link, lsw can be told to ignore any transmutes when considering craftable reagents).

whew.

edit: rereading your post, are you asking about the ability to consider whether you should make the item or sell the raw cloth? you might try the "force crafting" toggle to see what it does. the issue, tho, is that you can't go backwards form bolts to cloth and lsw can't really presume to know which you are intending to sell... you can certainly manually examine the cost of producing bolts vs the auction value to see which is better for any recipe that requires those bolts, but that's really a completely optimal solution..

To expand on the idea of inventory count, showing bank inventory as well as bag inventory would be extremely useful. Even after pressing alt, I still have to mouseover the item to see if I have stock in the bank (this may be an arkinventory function). I have about 9 32 slot crafting bags full, so it gets difficult to keep things in order.

Either way awesome addon.

thanks

Do you have a thread here somewhere for the version of Skillet that you did?
yeah, there's a new auctionmaster api. i'll get a new lsw version up soon.

no, the skillet here is the standard skillet. once i take it over properly, i'll be sure to update here as well.

it was only a matter of time... the only thing i can think, would be to have some hard-coded alternate views. right now, there's the "profit" view which combines bother columns. i could have a hard-coded "auction" view which puts up the inventory counts and value (or possibly an option for value or profit)...

that's probably the only realistic way of having anything happen anytime soon. i'll look into how it might fit the scheme of things.
