Pawn calculates scores for items to help you easily find upgrades for your gear. It's completely customizable, and applicable to any class and situation: for example, it can help you decide whether to equip the ring with a higher item level but one stat you don't want (say, strength for shamans), or the ring with the lower item level but all good stats. It's that level of customization that makes it very different from more general mods like GearScore and more specialized mods like TankPoints.

Pawn can be used by new players right off the bat without needing to change any options, or by advanced players who plan out their gear upgrades, build Excel spreadsheets, install Rawr, and read Elitist Jerks.

Language support

Pawn works with English, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, and Simplified Chinese, and includes an untested translation into Traditional Chinese. Unlike most addons, it's NOT possible to use the English version on a language that it doesn't support. (If you're interested in helping translate Pawn into other languages, let me know!)

Getting started

Pawn will automatically set itself up to work with your characters, but there's a lot that you can do to customize it. See the readme file included with Pawn for more information on getting the most out of Pawn.

Version 1.8.5

A few minor changes to work around a rare issue where Pawn would load files in a different order on some machines.

Priests will no longer incorrectly see bows, crossbows, and guns as potential upgrades when using the built-in Wowhead scales.

Version 1.8.3

Sha-touched items from Heart of Fear and Terrace of Eternal Spring (all difficulties) will now always be valued (for base value) as if you've completed Wrathion's Chapter II questline and can add a prismatic socket to the item.

Includes minor updates to the other translations.
Fixed a couple minor display issues on the Compare tab when one item had sockets and the other did not.
Thunderforged and Heroic Thunderforged items on the English PTR will no longer show (?) on their tooltips.

Version 1.8.2

Fixed a bug in average item level calculations when inspecting hunters. (Their ranged weapons were only getting counted for half the appropriate level.)
The Reforging Advisor will now also show up when you right-click an item while talking to an arcane reforger.

Version 1.8.1

This version of Pawn now includes French support, thanks to translation volunteers othor and Snuff, and an untested Traditional Chinese translation based on work by BNSSNB.
Reduced Pawn's memory usage by about 35% (at least on my PC) by optimizing the way translations are loaded. Pawn's memory usage should return to about where it was back when it was for a single language only.
Corrected a calculation problem where the Ghost Iron Dragonling trinket was undervalued because Pawn suggested Cataclysm cogwheels for it instead of Mists of Pandaria cogwheels. (Thanks durandal42!)
Fixed a minor problem that could occur when using the Compare tab if you used Pawn in the past (or on another computer), then stopped using it, then sold some of your best items, and then started using it again.

Version 1.8

This version of Pawn now works for German and Russian in addition to English. Big thanks to the translation volunteers Sandmahn and mgotovtsev! It also has an untested Simplified Chinese translation based on work by bigbamboo.
This version also contains a large number of changes to prepare for German, Russian, and more languages in the future.
Some now-unnecessary information that was being stored in Pawn's SavedVariables file will now be removed when logging out.
Reorganized the Options tab to make it a bit cleaner. Options for changing the digits of displayed precision for values and for controlling the visibility of (?) icons on tooltips were removed.
Changed a bunch of bits of text throughout Pawn.
Worked around a problem that occurred with Pawn annotations showing up on AtlasLoot items twice. (To show Pawn annotations on AtlasLoot items, click Options in AtlasLoot and then check Use GameTooltip.)
Added support for the Pyrium Weapon Chain and Living Steel Weapon Chain.
Crystals of Fear will now no longer improperly show (?) on their tooltips.

This post and following to the end of that thread (you can ignore the posts above it) describes the issue and possible workarounds.

Unfortunately it's another problem with dropdown menus in the long string of taint issues over the years.

VgerAN An Aku'mai Servant Forum posts: 36 File comments: 210 Uploads: 7	Hi! Shift-click the mage scales (or click them and then uncheck "show this scale in tooltips" at the bottom of the list) to get rid of them. If you only care about one or two monk specs you can get rid of those the same way.

I looked all over inside options tabs and not at the main screen That was a great tip, I already removed unneeded scales from my other characters as well, which I had no idea that it was doable untill now.. ---- Hi, my monk is 30 atm and at some point I've noticed that Pawn shows values for all 3 Mage specs in tooltip along with Monk specs. I've searched options and I can't see way to detach mage scales from tooltip. Here's what it looks like. I don't think that French has received as much testing as some other languages, so let me know here, on Curse, or on Facebook if you run into any issues (namely the (?) symbol appearing on items next to perfectly normal stats), and I'll make sure that I or the French translator gets it fixed up.

menace97 A Defias Bandit Forum posts: 1 File comments: 68 Uploads: 0	VgerAN, thanks again for such an amazing addon. works wonderful with ask mr. robot, of course, or any stat weighting app. like you said, just make your own custom scales (input your own data), very simple. i have noticed a small issue when reforging - i tend to right-click the item i have equipped to transfer to the reforge UI. unfortunately pawn's reforging advisor doesn't show up. it does when i left click and drag the item to the open slot. not a big deal at all. just something i noticed. thanks again!

To see Ask Mr. Robot's stat weights, go to a page either for your own character or one of the generic characters, like this one: http://www.askmrrobot.com/wow/gear/shamanrestoration Then, click Edit Weights. There, you can see the stat weights that Ask Mr. Robot is using. To add them to Pawn, open up Pawn from your character sheet and go to the Scale tab. Choose the most appropriate one of the Wowhead scales in the list (as in, "Shaman: restoration"), and then click Copy. Give your new scale a name. Now you have a scale (list of stat weights) that you can work with on the Values tab. Copy the stat weights from Ask Mr. Robot to Pawn. If there are any leftover values in Pawn that didn't come from the stats you added from Ask Mr. Robot, you can remove them with the Remove button. (For example, if the Wowhead scale you copied listed one crappy stat with a value of 13, but it didn't show up in the Ask Mr. Robot weights at all, be sure to remove it, or otherwise that crappy stat will become your best stat because Ask Mr. Robot weights usually only go up to 1.) The reason I suggest starting with a Wowhead scale and not a blank one is that I already set those up to ignore weapons and armor that your class/spec can't use. But you can also start with a totally blank scale if you find that easier.

Yes, manually adding the raw values of your two one-handers and comparing them against the value of your two-hander is the appropriate thing to do. I'm still planning on developing some features in the future to make this process a little better. If you'd like, you can see the raw values directly on the item tooltips (in addition to the Compare tab) by selecting the "show item values and upgrade %" option on the Options tab. I usually keep that option on, though you might find that it is a little too much extra clutter.

I'd like to know if I can use Pawn to see which is the better option? I'm still leveling at the moment - but would like to see at a glance which is the better to equip especially when running dungeons. Am I right in thinking that just adding the total numbers for the 2 separates that show up at the bottom of the tool-tip can be compared with the number for the 2-hander? I also tried dragging the 2-hander into one of the Compare slot - but there doesn't seem to be an option to drag the separates to the other side? Help appreciated (Oh, and thank you for a very nice add-on!)
