Follow Felankor
A World of Warcraft UI AddOn
By Felankor

NOTE: Your friends, guild, group and raid members DO NOT need this AddOn installed to be able to command you (E.g. to make you follow them). There are however a few features which do require them to have this AddOn installed.

#############################
DESCRIPTION
#############################

Follow Felankor is primarily an Auto Follow AddOn (It allows Friends, Guild, Group and Raid members to make you follow them if for example you go AFK).
It also has many other useful features whether you like to Dual/Multi Box, level/quest with friends, run raids or dungeons or just have fun with your
mates. Please read below for a full list of features.

#############################
FEATURES
#############################

1) Allows friends and group/raid/guild members to make you follow them (With the option to prevent this if you are using the auction house, npc or looting etc).
2) Automatically resumes following the last person you followed after combat ends. Casting a spell will cancel Auto Resume. (Disabled by default)
3) Allows your friends and group/raid/guild members to make you mount and dismount.
4) Auto accepts resurrect from friends and group/raid/guild members.
5) Auto accepts group invites from friends and guild members.
6) Auto invites friends and guild members to your group upon their request through a whisper command. (Don't worry, this can be disabled!)
7) Auto accepts quests and shared quests or escorts. (Disabled by default)
8) Notifies the person you are following and/or your DualBox Master if you have low health. (NOTE: Both players must have Follow Felankor v2.5.0 or higher for this feature to work)
9) Allows your friends and guild members to make your character do emotes (e.g. sit, stand, wave, point, fart etc) (Don't worry, this can be disabled!)
10) Allows you to ban certain players from sending you whisper commands.
11) Option to automatically create a set of macros that send whisper commands to your targeted player.
12) Automatically announces to your group/raid when you go AFK; telling them that they can make you follow them using the !ff_follow whisper command.
13) Tells you when another player starts following you of their own accord. (NOTE: Both players must have Follow Felankor v2.1.0 or higher for this feature to work)
14) Shows you if group/party members are using Follow Felankor by adding an icon on their party portrait.

#############################
USING FOLLOW FELANKOR
#############################

NOTE: There is a full detailed list of slash commands and whisper commands in the READ ME file, or you can use the help commands in game (explained below).

You can type:

/ff_menu to display the Follow Felankor menu. (All interfaces are accessible from this menu)

Or

/ff_help to display the help dialog.

Or

"/ff_help command" for more help with each command. (E.g. /ff_help ff_options to get help for the /ff_options command)

Your friends, guild, group or raid can whisper or tell:

!ff_help for a list of whisper commands that they can use to command you.
!ff_help command (e.g. !ff_help ff_follow) for more help with each command.

I would appreciate it if you could both test with Beta 2 for a little while to be sure.
No problem. I've just uninstalled Beta 1 and replaced it with Beta 2. Will keep you posted.

We might just have to accept this - sometimes addons just go funny for awhile. My guildies and I have all experienced moments where, for no good reason, msbt and recount just stop showing anything, and only a relog will fix it. Sometimes I try to check my or another raid member's Acheron Death Report, and nothing's in there. The reason I first posted about the FF bug, rather than just moving on, was that I was having to actually uninstall and reinstall it. Now if I can fix it by just going into options and re-enabling things, that's not so bad. Felankor, you've put a lot of awesome time and effort into trying to fix what might, in the end, turn out to be a random mystery bug. Obviously if you can track down the problem that's great, but... don't drive yourself into the ground trying. Thank you for all the effort so far, and I'm still going to keep using the addon!
I have also had this problem happen to me once or twice in the past. But 99% of the time they are accepted with no problems. As Talia mentioned, I too have had addons which randomly stop working and are fixed by /console reloadui or a relog. I have had a look at the code for this before and couldn't find anything wrong. As it only seems to happen now and again I've put it down to being one of those strange random times when addons stop working for no apparent reason. Maybe another addon interfered, maybe even Blizzard's code itself did something which stopped FF receiving the invite event. I really don't know.

I haven't put the other problem down to being one of those random things because it was happening to you frequently. I'm still not 100% sure what caused the problem, but I've almost completely re-written the options interface so hopefully whatever was causing the problem is now gone.

I'm using the first beta version you posted, and so far so good. I've done 3 raids on 2 of my 80s, a 5-man guild run (i.e., with proper invites, not a random) on one of them, and a couple randoms (plus a lot of solo questing) on my baby toon. So far it's still working.
Good, I'm glad to hear that. However I'm sure Jazlyn was still having the problem with Beta 1 (correct me if I'm wrong). I would appreciate it if you could both test with Beta 2 for a little while to be sure.

Thank you both again for your help and patience.

With regards to the problem Jazlyn's been having with group invites sometimes not being accepted, in the past I've had that problem. Even when the addon appears to be working - the icon is showing (that's usually my first indication it's quit) and all options are ticked - sometimes invites from friends or guildies didn't get auto-accepted. And sometimes they did, with no intervention on my part.

We might just have to accept this - sometimes addons just go funny for awhile. My guildies and I have all experienced moments where, for no good reason, msbt and recount just stop showing anything, and only a relog will fix it. I've just uploaded Beta 2 here: http://www.wowinterface.com/download...stVersion.html

Can you please download this and test for the bug first with your addons enabled and if it still happens then try with all except FF disabled.

If it happens again can you copy the following text and then in game (when it's NOT working) hit enter as if you were going to send a message to chat and press CTRL+V to paste the text and then press enter again. (It is important that you copy and paste the text as the slightest typing mistake will break the code)

/script if FF_Options["Enabled"] == 1 then FF_LocalMessage("Enabled"); elseif FF_Options["Enabled"] == 0 then FF_LocalMessage("Disabled"); else FF_LocalMessage("Error: "..FF_Options["Enabled"]); end

If done correctly you should then see one of the following messages in chat:
[FF] Enabled
or
[FF] Disabled
or
[FF] Error: <something or nothing here>

Can you tell me what message you see please.

Thanks,

Felankor

I would prefer 'guild' and 'friend' as separate options, so I could chose to allow only friends or only guildies to invite me to groups, but no biggy if that is too hard.
It's still not happening to me, i've been checking it every day, reloading ui etc and it all seems fine. Really getting confused on this one now as I can't see any obvious errors in my code. Could I ask you to untick all addons except for FF at the login screen and do the same tests again please?

Thanks

@Jazlyn

You gave me your settings when FF IS WORKING. Are these the options you would normally use when FF works or have you just ticked a few things for testing? (If this was only for testing could you please give me the settings again as you would normally have them). Thanks

Felankor
These are the settings I use, I only use it for follow, mount and invite. I would hate for my main to accept a brez in a bad spot/time due to autorezzing

On that note, would it be possible to have character specific settings?

--edit: Beta downloaded. I'll report back!--

I'm not sure what you mean by "bot in BG". To be honest I haven't been to a BG for a long time (Recently started fresh on a new server). If you mean the typical type of botting (I.e. software which controls the character for you instead of playing it yourself) then this is NOT possible with addons. It would be a hack or cheat program of some sort that is being used (which is against Blizzard's terms and conditions) and not an addon.

Either way, Follow Felankor is NOT what they are using to "bot" in BG's. This addon is not able to move your character or make it attack or even /assist etc. This addon allows your friends to make you Auto Follow them and use a mount, auto accept ressurect and party invites and some other similar things. See the description for a full list of features.

@Talia & Jazlyn

I have uploaded a Beta version of Follow Felankor with the new unreleased features I have been working on and hopefully a fix for the problem you are having.

Could you both please download it from the link below and tell me if you still have the problem.

http://www.wowinterface.com/download...stVersion.html

As I said this is a Beta version and has therefore not been fully tested. If you encounter any other problems with the Beta version, please let me know.

Thanks,

Felankor

Could you also give me your saved variables when FF IS WORKING and the options set how you would normally have them. I didn't think to ask this in my original post, sorry.
No problem. These are my normal settings:

FF_Options = {
["Enabled"] = 1,
["AllowInviteRequests"] = 1,
["AllowEmoteCommand"] = 1,
["WhisperLogSettings"] = {
["OrderBy"] = "Date",
["Order"] = "Desc",
},
["AllowAcceptResurrect"] = 0,
["EnableLogging"] = 1,
["AllowAutoAcceptParty"] = 1,
["PreventFollowWhenBusy"] = 1,
["ShowMinimapButton"] = 1,
["MinimapPosition"] = -63.31742741209423,
["BanListOrder"] = "Asc",
}
FF_Options_Announcements = {
["AnnounceResurrection"] = 0,
["AnnounceFollowStart"] = 1,
["AnnounceRequestInviteForFriend"] = 0,
["AnnounceAFK"] = 0,
["AnnounceAutoInvite"] = 1,
["AnnounceAll"] = 1,
["AnnounceFollowStop"] = 1,
}

(Looks like it was good that I did forget to add it or I wouldn't have spotted this).
A lot of people cringe at their mistakes, but really, that's how we learn!

I've compiled a list of which addons I use consistently across every playing toon (not counting my bank toon).

Addon Control Panel
Altoholic (and associated Data Store folders - same on each toon)
AutoProfit
Bagnon
Bartender4
Button Facade (and the Apathy skin)
Chatter
Chinchilla Minimap
Elkano's Buff Bars
Follow Felankor
ForteXorcist II (and associated modules - different per toon)
Friends Monitor
FuBar 3.6 (with LocationFu, MoneyFu, PerformanceFu, BagFu, and VolumeFu)
Get Off My Lawn
IceHUD
Lib: Ace3
Macro Bank
Mik's Scrolling Battle Text
Minimap Button Frame
Pitbull Unit Frames 4.0 (and associated modules - same on each toon)
Postal
Rating Buster
Stubby (lib)
Sunn - Viewport Art
Talented
TipTac
tom Quest 2
Moncai's Equipment Compare

A mouse-over of Stubby in my addons window describes it as (and I'm paraphrasing) allowing on-the-fly, behind-the-scenes enabling and disabling of various addon modules. That seemed to stand out to me as related to this problem, maybe? It's not something I ever loaded myself, it came packaged with some other addon, not sure which.

Also, It would seem the only ones Jazlyn and I have in common are:

Button Facade (with different skins loaded)
Chatter
Elkano's Buff Bars
IceHUD
Mik's Scrolling Battle Text

Though I also have Omen and DBM enabled on my higher-level toons.
