FuBar - Player InFu

Version: v1.2.1
by: Kayde [More]

Introduction
This addon was created to reduce the headaches that I had on my Druid of CONSTANTLY switching back and forth on the character paper doll to see how my gear would effect melee, spells, and attributes. It's hard to decide what quest rewards to take for what role (Feral Tanking, Healing, Spell DPS, Feral DPS), let ALONE all the resist gear out there!!

Enter my Fubar_PlayerInFu! In a tooltip display, you are shown all your attributes, and many more that you've probably never even known you had!

Features
1) Adds your Name, Level, and XP percentage to the FuBar header. These can be toggled on and off via the right click menu. [picture #1]

2) When mousing over the title, a tooltip pops up with TONS of info about you including: Experience, Attributes, Defensive Skills, Melee Skills, Ranged Skills (if your a Hunter, Rogue, or Warrior), Spell Skills (if your NOT a Hunter, Rogue, or Warrior), and your Talent Point summary. [picture #2 and #3]

3) LEFT clicking the title will open your character paper doll (character frame) so that you can double check special things like +dmg to a particular school of magic, your resilience rating (I give the actual % of reduction in the tooltip), et cetera.

4) RIGHT clicking the title will display a drop down menu with submenu options for all the controls of the tooltip and header displays. You can control how much information you desire to see. The addon is built in such a way that if you don't want something to be shown, toggling it off will save the resources that would normally go toward the calculations for those categories. [picture #4]

Commands
"/fpif", "/fubarplayerinfu"
No options but the basics here. The plugin works automatically.

Future Changes / Known Issues
1) Additional information to be added: (TBD)

Credits
Well, lets see here. I wrote this entire addon based off of my Fubar_CritterInFu addon, so I suppose some thanks to Jayhawk [Fubar_PetInfoFu] is in order as he laid the groundwork for the LUA file.
I used resources like WoWwiki and the work done by Detritis [FuBar_CombatInfoFu] for some basic information on how the logic of the Player paper doll was called on.
Other than that, I wrote it - so it's mine.
"OttoDeFe" and "fred" for bug feedback! Thanks guys!

What can I say? I'm just very pendantic, and as it says +Intellect on items in game, it just has to match up for me or my head gets all confused!

Just thought I'd mention it here so I didn't have to update the locals file on my end every time you did an update, hehe. I'm so lazy! Thankies!

I also have another fix on the zoning error. I had fixed one section, but overlooked the other.

Thank you for the kind comments!

...Oh yes, and I changed the rested XP amount back to the way Blizzard displays it, as the 150% rested thingy that Lywellyn and I discussed below. I'll add that to the notes as well. After thinking about it further - I realized that I just did the math for the amount anyways, knowing that it was halved already. So why not revert back to the way it's interpreted by Blizz? Not that big a deal.

Sadly, I know exactly what you mean Lywellyn...

However, I need to update my signature, for I have moved to Nashville, Tennessee back in January - and the philosophy is slightly different here...

"Tennessee - When construction begins, but never ends."

There are about 12 different projects going on by what appears to be the same company, so progress is as slow as molasses - at best. They tinker here, and tinker there, but nothing ever gets completed it seems. Sigh.

Still, it beats the hell outta slushy highways and a sea of "white spray can" cars (all the salt). However, "Life in the fast lane" moves only as fast as the slowest driver here - due to all the single lane roads...

Interesting.

And by the way: If you live in Michigan, then you know what I mean by: When is winter going to finally end and construction actually take hold?

Rested experience is valued at a full amount. Lets say you have 10,000 rested XP. When you kill a mob that yields 500 XP, you are actually getting 250 normal XP and 250 rested XP bonus.

At FULL RESTED XP, this means that you can gain 1 and 1/2 levels (150%) in the same amount of time that it would take you to level 75% of ONE level (double the XP incoming). They put a cap on this to prevent an insane amount of rested XP being built up (understandably).

<thanks for the history lesson Kayde, now get to the point ya nublet!>

If I call for the numbers that Blizzard returns to you, it will reflect that you have lost 500 rested XP upon such a kill. "WTF? But the chat window just said..." I know, I know, it's truly confusing. This is why I put it into more logical terms of 0%-100%.

one of the actual values seems off, because 81750 is 40875 twice, but 150% is not 100% twice.

Edit: On another character, I have 5668 rested xp (64%), but your tooltip only reports half that, at 2834 rested xp (42%). I'm confused now. @_@;;
What your seeing when you are looking at 150% rested on XPFu and 100% on PlayerInFu are actually the same thing. Simply: 100% is 2/3 of 150%, just as 42% (most likely more like 42.8%, but you didn't report the 1/10%) is 2/3 of 64%. Don't twist your brain around understanding how 64% is not twice that of 42% and how they don't calculate into each other, you'll end up a prune.

/start rant
I have long believed that the 150% rested XP listing is misleading. How can anyone have more than 100% of anything? For me, it's like someone saying they give 110% at the office. They are full of <insert word of a cesspool nature here> IMO because you cannot give more than 100% of what you can possibly exert - even on cocaine, lol. It's a mathematics thing I suppose in my head, and simply doesn't compute to me.

Using this same logic, if you get a Stamina buff that raises your overall HP's by an additional 50% of the base amount (OMFG wouldn't that be the shizz?), would you consider yourself to have 150% health? Perhaps in some form of psychology, but as far as the game (and your healer) is concerned - you are still at 100% health, regardless of how many bonus HP's you receive.
/end rant

Anyways, back to the point: What my rested XP amount reflects is what percentage of rested bonus XP you have built up, not what percentage of full XP you have until it runs out. Now when you kill a mob that yields 500 XP, you know that your rested XP will drop by 250, not 500. Confused yet? LOL!

If you and enough other people feel the need for a toggle between the 150% to 100% logic, as you are used to seeing it a different way, then I'll happily add it. After all, it would only take about 6 lines of code.

Please submit a feature request if you desire this.

Thanks for the feedback! And as always - "Make love, not Gnomes".

My character has 150% Rested xp (81750 actual value) according to ExperienceFu. However, your tooltip says I only have 100% (40875 actual value). I know I have 150% rested xp, so the tooltip isn't showing the correct percentage...and somewhere, one of the actual values seems off, because 81750 is 40875 twice, but 150% is not 100% twice.

Edit: On another character, I have 5668 rested xp (64%), but your tooltip only reports half that, at 2834 rested xp (42%). I'm confused now. @_@;;
