TomTom  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v60000-1.0.1
by: Cladhaire [More]

TomTom is your personal navigation assistant in World of Warcraft. This addon is very simple, but provides a nice set of functionality. Thanks to Esamynn for Astrolabe, which does the bulk of the work in this addon.

TomTom offers the following major features:

  • Set waypoints via command, or by clicking on the world map
  • A draggable coordinate display with customizable accuracy. This frame can be hidden or locked.
  • Player and cursor coordinates on the World Map (these can be hidden)
  • A floating "crazy-taxi" style arrow that points you to your destination
  • Displaying the "crazy-taxi" arrow or coordinate block in compatible LDB displays (such as NinjaPanel)
  • Show a waypoint that points you towards your corpse for easy recovery
  • Can set waypoints by clicking on quest objective POIs on the World Map and watch frame.
[*]Can automatically set waypoints to your closest quest objective
Please also check out LightHeaded: http://www.wowinterface.com/download...ghtHeaded.html
Slash Commands:
/tomtom - Opens configuration GUI

In addition you can use the /way command to add and reset waypoints. In order to overcome conflicts with the Cartographer /way command, you can also use /tway to access TomTom's waypoint command. The following slash commands are available:

Add a new waypoint at 14.78, 23.90:
Code:
/way 14.78 23.90
Add a new waypoint in Nagrand at 45, 50:
Code:
/way Nagrand 45 50
Add a new waypoint with a description:
Code:
/way 14.78 23.90 This is a waypoint!
Remove ALL current waypoints:
Code:
/way reset all
Remove all waypoints in Nagrand:
Code:
/way reset Nagrand
Set a waypoint at the current location:
Code:
/wayb
or
Code:
/wayback
Set the waypoint arrow to the closest arrow in the current zone:
Code:
/cway
or
Code:
/closestway
When you set a waypoint, a dot will appear (green) on your minimap. When it goes out of range of the minimap display, it will turn into an arrow, just like the default UI. You can mouse over these waypoints to get detailed information about that waypoint.

TomTom has been designed to publish the Crazy-Arrow and Coordinate Block as LDB feeds, allowing them to be displayed in compatible display addons. I've written a very simple, easy-to-configure panel that is capable of displaying these called NinjaPanel.

Fix a bug with distance callbacks

If the player is within the distance callback circle when the waypoint

enables the callbacks to ignore the initial trigger of the callback.

Add a method to get a table of default callbacks

This makes it possible for an add-on to create a waypoint with custom callbacks without losing the tooltip/onclick functionality that currently exists in TomTom. Usage is something like this:

local opts = {} -- any options for your waypoint, such as title, etc.
opts.callbacks = TomTom:DefaultCallbacks()
opts.callbacks.distance[15] = function(event, uid, range, distance, lastdistance)
-- this function will be called when the player moves from
-- outside 15 yards to within, or vide-versa and passed
-- several parameters
--
-- event: "distance"
-- uid: the UID of the waypoint
-- range: the callback range being triggered (15 in this case)
-- distance: the current distance to the waypoint
-- this MAY be less than 15, if you move really fast
-- lastdistance: the previous distance to the waypoint. This
-- can be used to determine whether or not you are
-- leaving the circle or entering it.

if not lastdistance or lastdistance and lastdistance > dist then
-- entering circle
else
-- exiting circle
end
end

Add a function to fetch coordinates safely

For the coordinate feed and coordinate block. this function can be used
instead of the heavier player position function to get the current
player's coordinates. This means that depending on the current map zoom,
the 'coordinates' will display the position on that map, which is what
we'd expect.

The arrow and rest of the addon continues to function correctly.

This fixes an issue in the deeprun tram and other zones with no
coordinates.

Better handle zone names with spaces and special

The comparison of user input to zone name is made more relaxed by this
commit which forces both strings to be forced to lowercase, and have all
non-alphanumeric characters removed. In short, it should work much
better now.

Initial update to POI integration plugin

Currently, most of the old features should work properly, only there is
now a limitation that it will only work with objective waypoints that
are in your current zone, in particular with the ones on the watch
frame. I will likely change it so that the ones on the world map work
properly, but this will be in a separate commit.

graphic not appearing?

I just downloaded the new TomTom today, and I'm noticing that I no longer have a graphic to show me where to go if I click on coordinates. The arrow appears on my mimimap, but when I open up my normal map - or get close enough tht the loc icon should be showing up on my mimimap - there's nothing there. I'm also not getting the announcement that I've arrived at a location.

Forgive me if someone already addressed this - I did look back through but didn't see anything quite like this.

No problem. It'll be a part of the next major TomTOm release, but that's not ready due to time constraints at the moment.

I use Cartographer for a couple reasons but mainly because it allows me to resize the map and to make the outer edges ( the part that is just fluff and decoration ) transparent. This is nice when you open the map while moving. It looks like cartographer WAS the problem.

It appears that if you size Cartographer too small, it messes with the directional arrow somehow. when i made the map a little larger everything worked fine.

while i know this problem was not a TomTom problem, I think that many people might make the same mistake i did, so i posted here in an attempt to help them debug.

Lol, no problem. Just trying to make sure we get you the help you need :P

Are you absolutely and 100% positive you're using the latest version. I uploaded a fix for this last night. Also, I need to know what you're doing when this error occurs.

Its just me, and thanks :P

1. I use TomTom with lLightheaded and since 2.3 when i click a loc in Lightheaded i see a momentary fuzzy spot where the arrow should be and then nothing. no arrow at all. the fuzzy spot looks like a graphic that has been scrambled up. I have DL'd the latest TomTom and Lightheaded, and the map mod witch i use as well, Cartographer.
Well, you have to be more specific. "The arrow" is a Cartographer_Waypoints thing, and has nothing to do with TomTom. All TomTom does is add the waypoints to the minimap and world map, along with providing coordinate displays. This would be an issue with Cart, if anything.

2. Im not sure if this is a problem or my faulty memory since im a new user of TomTom. When i click a loc for a quest that is not in the zone i am currently in, it shows the way point incorrectly as being in the same zone i am currently in. I was pretty sure i was clicking quests before the patch while out of the quest zone, and the way point showed me the correct zone on the world map. Am i not remembering this correctly?
Two things, the NPC coordinates that are provided in LightHeaded include the zone, because I have that information and can include it. The user commands do not include this information, and there's no reasonable way for me to "guess" what zone the waypoints needs to be added at. There's nothing we can do to change this. You can, however add a waypoint to a specific zone manually, i.e.

/way Tanaris 30 50

I was also wondering if there are other known mods i may be using that might be possibly causeing my problems. Is cartographer the best map mod to use with Tomtom? im actully very interested in the answer to this question.
Depends on what you need in a map mod. The default UI map works just fine for me.

This sounds like you may be having a conflict with Cartographer. I've never used it so I cant really say much about it. I use both Tomtom and LH and now that the r68 ver of Tomtom is out they both run like a charm. I would start by running Tomtom and LH alone without other addons and see how they act. Make sure you don't have the r65 ver of Tomtom running.

2. Im not sure if this is a problem or my faulty memory since im a new user of TomTom. I know what your talking about, when using Lighthead cords, you'll sometimes find a loc. that will allow Tomtom to place a mark in another zone, like quest giver or ending quests NPCs. But for he most part you will have to be in the zone for it to mark correctly for quests, mob locations for example.

I was also wondering if there are other known mods i may be using that might be possibly causeing my problems. Is cartographer the best map mod to use with Tomtom? im actully very interested in the answer to this question.
When you start stacking addons you may start running into conflicts. I happen to love addons and us quit a bit of them. If you suspect there may be a conflict just run the program in question by its self to see if it works correctly, if it don't it may be a patch problem and the developer will have to tweak it. If it runs ok find a Inn and start re-logging, testing the functions of each newly addon. When things start failing you'll know where the problem is.

Directional Arrow.

I only started using TomTom about 4 days before the 2.3 patch so i dont have alot of experience with it. but i have possibly 2 problems since the patch.

1. I use TomTom with lLightheaded and since 2.3 when i click a loc in Lightheaded i see a momentary fuzzy spot where the arrow should be and then nothing. no arrow at all. the fuzzy spot looks like a graphic that has been scrambled up. All help is greatly appreciated as i pretty much feel like i HAVE to use this mod. i think its THAT cool. Ive told all my wow friends about it. lol.

Thanks very much for the speedy response, can fully understand how hectic it must be so I for one am greatful that you took the time to sort this. I've now got r68 and did a quick check with a couple of my characters. The coord frame is displaying properly again and it's scaling correctly. However, I checked my BugGrabber.lua file for errors from another addon and I found this:
["message"] = "TomTom\\TomTom.lua:65: bad argument #1 to 'pairs' (table expected, got nil)\n<in C code>: in function `pcall'\nLightHeaded\\Dongle.lua:246: in function <Interface\\AddOns\\LightHeaded\\Dongle.lua:245>\nLightHeaded\\Dongle.lua:336: in function <Interface\\AddOns\\LightHeaded\\Dongle.lua:327>\n\n ---",
["type"] = "error",
["time"] = "2007/11/14 19:32:23",
["session"] = 3726,
["counter"] = 1,
Didn't see any error get reported in-game so I'm not too sure what this is about. Not really had time to go running around to fully check and test everything yet, but hopefully this isn't too serious.

I have r65 installed - which is what has been noted in other posts as what file you get when you click the download button, even though the version on the page says it is supposed to be r68. Perhaps there is something out of synch.

Thanks again.
