LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

quest levels?

So I got doublewide, tom tom, and lightheaded... but I can't figure this out, in the screenshots, how did you get the quest level to appear in the quest log?

Re: Mac OS & Lighthed

Operator/Installation Error I left all the data with in the enclosing folder. Therefore, the addon showed in WOW Addons, but of course the data base was missing. Thanks for your prompt response as that got me checking for the real source of the problem

Gotcha now, misread that. I suppose you're right. I have it working now, and I have a three tier quest log which works wonderfully.

I got it now, thanks for the help.

If anyone else is using Extended Quest Log for BC, you'll need to edit 'LightHeaded.lua'
And replace all instances of 'QuestLogFrame' with 'EQL3_QuestLogFrame_Description'
Also, replace all instances of '360' with '350' (so LightHeaded opens and closes to the correct positions with this extended quest frame).

I doubt this will be fully supported with either the author of LightHeaded or EQL3, and any future updates may break this little fix, so use at your own risk.

Thanks for all the help!

I probably just overlooked it, but I know it's just one or two numbers I'd have to change to offset it a bit. Was hoping you could point me to the right line?
Code:
		LightHeadedFrame:SetParent(QuestLogFrame)

		lhframe.text:UpdateSize()

		if self.db.profile.open then
			LightHeadedFrame:SetPoint("LEFT", QuestLogFrame, "RIGHT", -50, 19)
			lhframe:Show()
			lhframe:SetAlpha(1)
			lhframe.open = true
		else
			LightHeadedFrame:SetPoint("LEFT", QuestLogFrame, "RIGHT", -360, 19)
			lhframe:Hide()
			lhframe:SetAlpha(0)
		end
That's what you'd need to change, specifically the -50, 19 and the -360 19, along with your frame name.

You really should get the EQL author to fix this, there's no reason to make a new frame.

Thank you.

When ever i click on the cords in lightheaded, tomtom only takes me to a position only on my current map, evem though the cords r in reference to another area. For eg i was in Feralas & click on a quest A Little Slime Goes a Long Way with cords Cursed Ooze are at 41,67 in Felwood, tomtom takes me to 41,67 in Feralas & NOT felwood. (which is in the middle of the ocean in this case lol)

is this a bug ? & is anyone else exp this ?
thanks heaps

(i don't have doublewide btw)
Just because you "think" they reference your current zone, doesn't mean they do. Unless a coordinate is given with an explicit continent, zone, x and y I can't infer anything. This is why the NPC coordinates work from any zone, but the ones in comments don't.

If you want more accuracy in comment coordinates, we should get people to add them as zcoord://cc/zz/xx/yy/desc and then I can parse them directly.

I use LightHeaded (the build provided here on this very website) on several Mac platforms and have had no issue. The only minor difference between Mac and PC WoW clients is how frames are handled, and this itself is done in the background "via Blizzard". Lua is Lua, etc. etc.

I would suggest simply removing all references of LightHeaded from your Mac's WoW Interface> Addons directory and start over.

But using plain LightHeaded with the default Blizzard Questlog results in ZERO issues.

Reply once you've tried this (default Blizzard Questlog + LightHeaded r148 or higher)

I am using Skinner too, so I use the command /lh detach to resize and move the frame, but it appears that the size and the place aren't memorized.

Is there a way to memorize it, so I don't have to do it again every time I open WoW ? I tried using /lh attach after resizing the frame, but then I don't see the left part of lh, which slips under the quest log. (maybe this is because of Skinner or beql).

(@ Vendray, I have the same "problem" but I don't think it's a bug, you just have to be on the correct map when you click on the coords, but if you're doing quest, you HAVE to be on the correct map, am I right ? )
