LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

I am sure this has been covered but I cannot find it in a 'quick' glance at 93 pages:

You mention do delete the Data folders as they are no longer needed with this version.

However when I removed old Lightheaded and Data folders (LightHeaded_A20_Data and others) and put the new LightHeaded folder into my add-ons folder, I get the questgiver data but no quest help data.

What did I do wrong?

Without providing the rest of the stack traceback, this is pretty useless to me. Can you please post the rest of it?

Not at the moment, no. Sure, I'd like to add it but as previous stated, my exams are due Monday morning.

2.) If you are still experiencing this issue, after ABSOLUTELY AND 100% GUARANTEEING that you are using the latest version of the addon at the moment that you make your post (hint: open the LightHeaded window, and compare the version displayed in the window it to the latest version marker on the addon page), then you have a conflict with another addon that will need to be addressed. I can't address it without knowing what it is, so you will need to do some troubleshooting.

Please report back with what you find.

My response is NOT directed at you, but I cannot give you guys any more information unless you're willing to do basic troubleshooting steps for me. I can't fix bugs that I'm not aware of, and you guys are the only ones that can report and say with 100% certainty that with version A of this addon giving me the direct URL to download it, and version B of LightHeaded, I experience the following behavior.

You can do this by disabling all addons except LightHeaded, verifying you don't have the issue, then enabling addons in block until the problem reappears. When it does, the block you just enabled contains a conflicting addon, and you should enable/disable those few to determine which one is the problem.

If you want the wide questlog, as stated in the addon description, I use DoubleWide.

Its been great using the LightHeaded programme but has an error crept in. The data from WowHead seems not to parse correctly into Lighthead in that if I click on a link (shown in blue) the waypoint it returns is not in the correct place (wrong contient). The other part thats missing is the "setting a waypoint to..." message that used to show up in the info box, is that intentional?

I appreciate the time and effort you have put into this addon and hope that its something I've missed or not set correctly.
I cannot reproduce this. You need to tell me what version of LightHeaded you are using (shown in the window), what quest, and what comment you are clicking on. Giving me the qid as listed on the info page is sufficient, along with what page of comments you are viewing. Also, telling me what the coordinate is, and where it placed it.

LightHeaded doesn't place the coordinates, it simply sends them to other addons for placement. However, if I can get a specific case, I can look into any bugs that may have appeared.

Same response as above. Withotu specifics, and 6000 quests and over 13,000 comments.. its impossible for me to determine exactly what the problem is. Please provide me with more information.

PAge ISsues

OK, I'm Having the same problem as with the other versions...I try and flip through comments and all it does it flash next page and go back to the first. Also, I noticed on a couple of my quests the comment page with crazy on me and was just flickering through all the pages. Didnt even touch the comments page. LAstly everytime i open a quest to look at it, an error message pops up. I loved this addon before 2.4 came out and dont know what i would do without it. However, I'm becoming weary of the constant bugs and error messages popping up all the time.

Strange delay

Hi Clad, thanks for updating this to work with 2.4.

I'm seeing a strange behavior I haven't noticed before. When I have the LH window open there is a slight delay of about 1/10 of a second every 2-3 seconds, ther screen freezes and then resumes. If I leave the LH window open for about 1 minute this period increases to about 50% frozen, 50% unfrozen. It seems as though the CPU is frantically trying to do too much. The effect is similar to when importing Gatherer databases, but it never stops and just continues to get worse. When I close the LH window everything returns to normal. The next time I open the window the delay does not "reset" to 1/10 of a second but continues from where it left off. I deleted all the old files before updating. Any ideas on what I could try to alleviate this?

Forgive me, it was at one point and I've already answered that question three times today. Its intentional, and temporary.
