LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

Remove Coord?

Perhaps i missed it as i went through the options quickly, but is there a way to remove the independent Coords window? I have it displayed so many other places, its quite redundent?

Thanks,

Darius

That is if the "quest data" and "npc data" are seperate data (I have no idea if this would be the case).

Anyway, thank you very much for considering and for your fast answer. Didn't expect such a quick reply.
Greetings and regards.
It would only be loaded when searching, and it wouldn't be extensive. The problem is right now I won't ever allow it, since no one wants to load 16 megs worth of data. Ever :P.

Thanks for the suggestion, hopefully I can get it implemented!

The best way to ask is just to ask, and you've certainly found the right place!

It would be great if you can search for NPC's if you no longer have the quest that have the NPC coords, like some turn in quests.
Perhaps this is a bit too much for some people, but I tend to forget an NPC location.
If you search for a quest you directly type in a quest word or name.
Maybe a npc search could be done when typing between brackets ?

example (the bone witch is a quest and an npc as well):
The Bone Witch --> Quest search.
[The Bone Witch] --> NPC search and giving coords and zone/area.

If this is too much work and too little an improvement on the already great add-on, then I definately understand.
I just thought, let's have a try at a suggestion.
Greetings and regards.

Re: Lighthead + TomTom problems, or is this just me?

I'm new at this so please be kind to the newb. I'm 12 days old!
I have Lghthead and TomTom installed and no others. Both seem to work great together. But here's my problem. When I use Lighthead and click on the coordinates in Lighthead, TomTom will put a cursor on those coordinates but when I actually try to go find this coordinate it always seems to be somewhere I can't get to. IE beyond a wall which have no way around or in a mountain where I can't get to. Do I have to manually place them? It seems that other people on these forums do not have this problem. So maybe it's just me. Or is there something I'm not doing right. Are the ighthead coordinates specific to one particular world (I'm on Grizzly Hills) or are all the worlds the same?
I also noticed that some of the cordinates in Lighthead only have 2 and some have 4. I have played around with the accuacy options, but doesn't seem to help.

Thanks for any advise you can give me.
I would ensure that you're using the most recent versions of the addons by downloading and installing the latest versions. There was a bug in a prior version of each addon that you could be experiencing if you're not up-to-date.

With TomTom coordinates are placed in the correct location. The difference in precision should not matter terribly, but can affect the accuracy. 50.79 is more precise than 50, which is why we try to use that form.

As for the coordinates from LightHeaded there are two kinds. The NPC coordinates that are found when clicking on the Start or End NPC in the quest information are provided directly from WowHead.com and they should be accurate. The coordinates that are provided in comments are user contributed and I can't vouch for their accuracy (although they are normally very good).

I hope that helps, if you have any specific issues you can report I'll try to address them.

I would like to say that the search bar implementation is great !
super handy if you want to help other people with certain quests.
Also the fact that you don't have to fill in the exact name but an approximation of a quest name is very handy indeed.
When people don't remember or for whatever reason can't give you the 'exact' quest name with all the punctuations or exclamation marks, etc. then it's very cool to fill in just one word and all quests with that word in it is shown !

To the programmers/developers of this great add-on: Thank you very much and keep up the good work !
Thanks for the kind words!

I'm running an addon called Mob Map which did display the issue you were describing. Thanks!

You most likely have an addon that is calling SelectQuestLogEntry() on a timed basis, which is a very big problem but one I cannot easily solve. You can test this with the following macro:

/run hooksecurefunc("SelectQuestLogEntry", function(idx) print("Selecting quest log entry: " .. tostring(idx)) end)

You will more than likely see the message printed over and over again. The addon calling SelectQuestLogEntry is your problem, but I can't post much more about that until I return from holiday.

Hello,

I recently returned to playing wow after not playing for about 8 months.

Didnt this add-on used to actually have audio effects for quests?

Like, it used to say, "Jobs Done!" or "work Complete!" in the warcraft III builder voices when you completed a quest.

IS this function still available or did it get removed, or am i thinking about another add-on?

EDIT: sorry i figured it out it was monkeyquest that did this

You did not install the addon correctly. All of the information is there, I suggest you delete and reinstall following the directions.
