LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
 • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
 • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
 • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
 • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
 • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
 • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
 • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
 • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

Sorry if this has been answered, but I was wondering which data files are for what level?

I haven't used this in a while, but I thought I remembered that the Lightheaded_Data_A was for something like quests 1-10 or something?

Can this be confirmed? Just want to know if I need ALL the data files loaded or if I can lead just a few essential ones for 80-85. Thanks!

To get rss notification:

1. Add Lightheaded to your Favorites (using the button beneath the download link)
2. Go to you My Favorites page (there's a link in the horizantal menu at the top of every page)
3. Click the rss icon in the url address bar.

or if you want email updates

4. On the My Favorites page, select "Preferences" from the menu on the left
5. Turn on email notification.

I've been using the rss feed for years and it works great. It sends an rss notification every time one of your favorites gets updated.

Also, when you visit the main page of wowinterface.com, there's a link in the right menu which tells you how many updated favorites you have.

You mean to the addon or the comments?

Just wanted to say that I love this mod. QuestHelper, Carbonite or the normal Questing mod from blizzard are all pretty and so, but nothing beats the g'old comments on wowhead or thottbot (Which are now the same).

Only annoyance I found is when you get the new frame next to your Quest Log when you gotta kill a boss or something, which interferes with LightHeaded's frame. But nothing we can do about that apart from the un-docking I suppose.

Can't live without this, no matter what happens.

wowhead not wowdb

If you read back one page (or even keep going back this question gets asked all the time) you will see that lightheaded gets its user comments (I think it also gets NPC names, loc's and other stuff as well) from wowhead and not from curse's WOWDB and so it hosted here and not on curse to help support wowhead.

You can ask, but the only answer I'm willing to give is because I want to make LightHeaded available via Wowinterface.com.

You can download LightHeaded via wowinterface.com. There are email feeds, and RSS feeds that are updated when a new version is released. That should be sufficient for any user.

First of all, I really hope you mean december, not november..
Second, changelog of last release clearly says 5/12-10

New comments parsed 5-Dec-2010
This was almo my experience when I quested, both 8th and 9th. Many comments were on wowhead, which wasn't in LH.
Regardless, it's still been a week since 8th (and even more since 5th), so I still think a new compile would be required, as we are at a point where new comments gets added in a steady stream, which this addon is all about.
Because Lightheaded is not available on Curse, and TomTom is. I have absolutely no plans to change this.
May I ask why?

I'm not sure if this is what the previous poster was alluding to, but it would be really useful if the LightHeaded window could optionally appear when viewing the map (via Mapster) with the embedded quest log (i.e. with 'Blobs & Panels' selected for the 'Quest Objectives' option).

I'm sure you mean December 8th and that certainly seems correct, thank you for that work.

We would most certainly appreciate a new parse as soon as you have a chance and again, thank you very much for yur hard work and your time

What does Lightheaded have to do with a map addon?
But since Cartographer isn't really working anymore, can you designate a basic map addon - Mapster or whatever you like (that's the one everyone recommended and it doesn't come with a huge suite of stuff I don't want or need) Mapster and Cromulent seem to be the pair for people who aren't using titan or something of that sort.

Is it possible to support Mapster with Lightheaded?
Support what? LightHeaded has nothing to do with map addons. Lightheaded supports setting of waypoints, using MapNotes, TomTom and Cartographer. Obviously, given that I wrote TomTom, I suggest that for waypoints, but that is not a map addo.

Or suggest a map addon that works that you do want to support?

I kept waiting for notification of an update, I finally checked here and saw there was one, as FuxieDK pointed out, for some reason, the Curse Client doesn't react or update or even say "there is an update available but you have to manually update it" I had no idea, but assumed there HAD to be one, and voila, there was.

/yay

And finally Fubar (someone else's is updated, but where oh where is my Auldlangsyne update, no where to be found, anyone have any ideas for a replacement for that one? I love everything it does and miss it.

Have a GREAT vacation, Cladhaire. Don't worry about addons, have life.. forget WoW exists. Have fun, lots and lots of fun and give and get love and hugs and even some presents.
I'm not sure how I'm supposed to help./ I'm sorry that addons you like are no longer updated.. but I'm having difficulty seeing what that has to do with LightHeadeed =_

Thank you for the kind words.

Also, can you take a look at why Curse Client refuse to update LH? Curse Client can see there is an update available (not now, but when an update actually is available), but insist that you download and install in manually.
However, TomTom updates fine with Curse Client and they both come from this site (and same author ;-)), so I can't see any reason why LH is such annoying to update.. :-(

For example, I open my quest log, and look at an initial quest of a 5-quest line. I then click on the 2nd or any other quest in that line and the pop-up reflects that particular quest's data, but will not disappear.

I have had the same issue with the window popping up and not going away--following my mouse all over the screen. The only way I was able to get it to go away was to mouse over the same line in the future quest that started the error, and then it goes away.
