LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

Random question just occured to me - when the coordinate is listed as 25,42, does TomTom place the waypoint at 25.0, 42.0, or at 25.5, 42.5? I'm guessing it's the former.. but the latter is in all probability closer to the actual destination.
All coordinates are treated in U.S. coordinate format. That means periods are the decimal separator, and commas are the x, y separator. 25,42 becomes 25.0 42.0.

Using r229, I'm seeing the following behaviour:

I click on a quest in the quest log (no addon) and then the LightHeaded tab. It displays the quest correctly. I then close the LightHeaded tab, select another quest and reopen LightHeaded. It now shows the first quest I clicked. No error messages along with it.

Also, if any comment contains a link that needs to be cached, when I Alt-click it to cache it, the comments are displayed on one page instead of one page per comment. If I just click the quest again it goes back to normal.
The LightHeaded frame only updates when it is visible, this is a feature considering any addon can at any point select a new quest for you.

The second is a bug, and if you report it formally I'll get it fixed.

there is one annoying problem with LightHeaded and TomTom, and I hope I am not repeating the already said, but I found out this (and will post it in the TomTom Forum as well):

Sometimes the coordinates of LightHeaded waypoints are not formatted as expected by TomTom, e.g.

"You'll find BlaBlaBla at the coordinates [25,42.]"

Do you notice the "." at the end of the sentence? As this is drawn into the coordinates, it is causing TomTom to malfunction, when clicking on the coordinates it in LightHeaded... and this appears to be found often in the LightHeaded clues!

Is there an easy way to fix this? Check for trailing "." on coordinates?

This would be great!

Thank you for this marvellous addon anyway!!
Can't quest without it anymore!!

No, there's not an easy fix for it. Yes I will try to fix it.

Only problem is, when I click on the cords, it doesn't get placed.
I order for click on cords to get placed, I need to reload my UI. After that, everything works fine.
You'll need to enable Lua errors to see if you're getting an error message. Other than that, you'll need to do some troubleshooting to find out if there is an addon conflict. Let me know what you find out.

I have no idea, you will have to ask the author of nquestlog. You can verify that LightHeaded is installed properly by disabling all addons except LightHeaded and checking with the default quest log.

You can't be using the latest version of the addons if this is the case. This was fixed quite a number of weeks ago, and was a bug in the original 2.4 version of LightHeaded. Please updated.

Quests are added with the note [LH] QuestName.

Weird, I know I did that a while back.Maybe some changes were made that overwrote the changes I made.

Edit: replaced the comments again and it works fine.
